UPDATE: Works fine with 1.44.83, but now has a Dutch and a German translation!!!

What this mod does
  • Increases symptom length
  • Makes illness buffs visible and affecting mood
  • Fixes original illness buffs to not be cured by travelling

Longer Symptoms
Since I have been sick and tired (haha, get it?) of my sims being sick for like 2hrs only, calling in sick for work and then jumping around totally healthy all day,
I originally created this tuning mod to increase the length of symptoms based on the illness type.

Illness type mild: 12 hr symptoms instead of 2hrs

Illness type severe: 24 hr symptoms instead of 3hrs

Now showing illnesses!
With the update to Version 2.0, I added the ability to actually tell what kind of illness your sim suffers from. The buffs (and therefore the illnesses) are hidden in the original game, so you can just kind of tell what kind of illness they have by looking at the symptoms. Not needed anymore: I added visible buffs with icons to make them actually visible! These illnesses are the same as the ones you can discover in the doctors career. There's two different types for each illness - mild and severe. Besides a change in symptom lengths, I haven't noticed any difference in those two yet. Expect further examination.
Illness lengths are not shown. You never know. There needs to be some challenge in that system, doesn't it?

There are 8 different Illnesses in the game:

Requiered Gameversion and Pack
This mod was created with game version 1.38.49.1020, but it should be fine with previous ones, as well as newer versions.
Just until EA touches sickness buffs.
If you notice else, please notify me.
You need to have The Sims 4: Get To Work

Possible Conflicts
This mod may conflict with any other mod altering the Buff Tuning files listed above.

Future Plans
My Finals are going to be in April/May, so please forgive me if I don't add any of these too soon;
RL got me. But I will be back with new cool stuff, I swear!!
  • Add something deadly
  • Increase sick idle animations occuring (coughing, holding tummy, ...)
  • Add more puking when sick
  • Add a visible debug/test menu to the sim when Debug-Cheats are not enabled
  • Improve said menu
  • Investigate and improve the sickness curing system
  • Make sims be able to visit a local doctor when sick
