Back after a long vacation and looking for help!

Date Posted: 12th Oct 2009 at 7:55 AM

Hi all! Sorry I have been away for so long. I got completely disgusted after getting a virus and losing everything on my pc. I was so upset that I quit playing Sims 2. Then Sims 3 came out and I bought that....I just can't get into it. So now I am back working on Sims 2 again. I will probably pass the Sims 3 on to my daughter as she really enjoys it much more than I do.

Anyway....before I left, I had really started getting into S2C contests. So now that I am back I have designed a contest - awaiting boolPropped to approve it yet. I am looking for some good ideas for prizes. The contest is a decorating contest - similar to the telly show Trading Spaces.

I know how to mod and such, but I don't have any of the software anymore. When I got the virus I lost my full version and key for Milkshape and I am not sure how to get it back - my son has been playing around with Blender but I am not familiar at all with it. My thought was to create a cool house and decorate it with limited MTS2 CC.

If you have any prize ideas, please pass them on.

Need Testers with AL Exp

Date Posted: 26th Sep 2008 at 7:07 AM

I have so wanted to get the AL Exp but alas, I am too broke to buy it. So for about a month prior to its release, and ever since then, I have been building tons of apartment complexes, duplexes, townhouses, etc.

Anyway, I figured if I can't enjoy what I am building at the moment maybe someone else can. If you a have AL and like some of my designs, I would be happy to share them - I just can't convert them to real Sims 2 Apartments.

My first apartment lot is called Alpine Ridge. It will hold 10 sim families - so plenty of neighbors to hang with. There are 2 -2 bedroom units and 8 - 1 bedroom units. Tenents will have access to private balconies, an in-ground pool, basketball court, and playgrounds. Take a look at the photos here.

Been away....work, kids, got married, etc.

Date Posted: 13th Sep 2008 at 2:51 AM

Hey all! Sorry I have been away from the Sims for a bit. I have been busy! My son's dad moved in with us for a bit - should be moving out by the end of the month - yay! Then my daugher and her boyfriend were staying with us for a while - they left about three weeks ago. And I got married two weeks ago. My life has just been too busy these days to think about my Sims. But things are settling down now and I am getting excited about buying Apartment Life. I am hoping to get it next week. Also, I am trying to finish up my courthouse so I can share it with everyone. It has a lot of custom content at this point and I want to replace as much as I can with maxis stuff. The new EP looks to have some excellent build mode items that will really enhance the appearance. Look for it to be uploaded in a month or so.

If anyone wants to view my wedding photos - they can be seen at www.rohlfingwedding.com

Happy Simming!

Hey all....if my wedding site is down its because we are hosting it on my son's pc....and he turns it off without thinking sometimes. So try again and I will keep on him to keep it up.

Crystal Cove's Community Court House Project

Date Posted: 2nd Apr 2008 at 1:47 PM

I just wasn't happy with the downloaded courthouses I found...sux to be soo picky! So I began building my own. Take a look and tell me what you would do differently...what you like about it, what you don't.

View Slide Show of Courthouse Project

My goal is to complete the outside and inside making it as close as possible to a real courthouse layout with courtrooms, holding cells, attorney's offices,
judge's chambers, clerks and records rooms, etc etc.

How would you upload a project like this? Furnished or Unfurnished?

On to the next project!

Date Posted: 31st Mar 2008 at 12:54 AM

So far, I have added my Virgin Mobile Store and a Post Office to Crystal Cove. I have no real big ideas on what my next project will be. I have found some really great lots that I chose to download - a court house/city hall, police department, fire department, bank, several retail stores (unfurnished), and a few restaurants.

I don't forsee any complete sets soon, but I did find that my court house needed a new desk with a judge's gavel...so look for that to come sometime soon!

Post Office Project

Date Posted: 13th Mar 2008 at 2:06 PM

Update: The post office is officially complete - now I need to get screen shots of the male mail carrier...lol..now that was funny to type. Once I have those screen shots then I will be uploading my default replacement mail carrier outfits to go with the post office set.

Update: The post office project is semi-completed and has been uploaded. View some screen shots. Now we just have to wait for it to get approved! I also wanted to let you know that as soon as I am able to, I plan to update a few of the Seasons items with base game items and make a base game only lot.
Currently I am working on another mini project - a Post Office Project. It even has a cute logo - thanks to Hysterical Paroxysm. Watch my slide show of what I have completed so far. Got any neat ideas for more objects just leave me a comment. I can't promise anything other than I will try.

Latest Project List!

Date Posted: 9th Feb 2008 at 12:23 PM

Hey all! I am working on several projects - including my sci-fi entry. That one isn't going as fast as I would like - but it requires a lot of learning on my part so I expect it will be a slower process - if I even get it completed in time.

My other projects include my grocery store set. I really hate the OFB shelves - they are just not at all like grocery store shelves should be. So I decided I would make my own. What I have gotten so far is a single-tile gondola with four useable shelves (six slots each). So far this one only holds small objects but I plan to make several versions that will accomodate medium and larger objects(unless I can find a way to make it work more like OFB shelves). I also plan to make a corner gondola - this way the gondola can be placed against a wall with a corner peice for joining walls. Below is a photo of what I have gotten so far - along with my edible cereal.

Gondola holding cereal

Here is another so you can see how they look side by side and back to back -they are pretty much seemless so far.

If you have any ideas for grocery store items, feel free to comment on my journal - if its something I can do - I certainly will try.

January 15, 2008 - Just Getting Started!

Date Posted: 15th Jan 2008 at 8:23 PM

Hi all! Thought I would begin my journal with some general ramblings. I haven't updated my page in a while - needs doing. Phaenoh said that I have officially graduated "into" meshing. (Thanks for the vote of confidence!) And I suppose she is somewhat right. I have learned a ton and there is tons more to go!

My latest endeavor included the Farm/Rural Creator Challenge. I have such a hard time getting started with these challenges. Ten thousand ideas roll through my brain. These aren't tiny ideas either! I originally wanted to create an entire neighborhood from scratch for this challenge. I got a map done, roads placed, even some neat buildings built. But then I wanted to customize every building in town! I started with some general lighting for a Dollar General Store (haven't shared that with everyone yet - other than photos). Then I moved on to another light, the one included in my contest entry. It turned out really cool. Afterward I began recoloring objects and created some walls and a floor tile.

Soon I got bored with recoloring and wanted to really get creative. I started working on a fire house. That got me to thinking of how to create a two-story garage door. I started that but never finished. I got stuck trying to figure it out - its posted in the object workshop forum if anyone wants a go at figuring it out

It was about that time I decided I better make up my mind on the neighborhood idea. I was down to a little over a week so I just decided on the home business - a general store. There are still more items I want to build and include with it -even after the contest is done and over. Like today, I began working on an old fashioned refrigerator - the non-electric style with a block of ice in the bottom. I borrowed from the armoire and the fridge to build it and found that the doors wouldn't open. That was when I found the Mesh Tool! Now the doors open but I need to work on it a bit more before I share.

A few other ideas:

My hat tree - I want to mod it so that sims can buy hats. Phaenoh pointed me in that direction so I must give her credit for the idea. One day it would be cool to see it work for real!

Ice Cream Chest - This will be a freezer style item that sells ice cream for those hot summer days. Dunno if this will work - still trying to figure out which animation I could use for it.

Theater with working candy and soda bar and movies you can only see via a real ticket bought at a ticket booth manned with a custom ticket taker NPC - I am dying to throw this one together. I had one started for the Old Hollywood contest but never got it finished - again too many ideas not enough time...LOL.

My Fire Station - I want the two story garage door and a pole that the firemen can slide down! The two story garage door will go great with the next expansion as well with the ability to work on cars as a hobby. (Hint Hint)

Well, that is it for my creative ideas for the moment. I will try to update this journal as I have time. Ta Ta...work is calling!
