You have to remove all files. In Documents you have the Sims2 Folder, that needs to go because that is where your saved lots, sims, and objects, and other game info is. If you want to save any downloads you can move your download folder somewhere else. You could also do the same with the SavedSims folder and PackagedLots. But if you keep either of those and they were made with custom content that you no longer have then you will have a problem.

go to C:\program files\EA Games\the sims 2\Tsdata\res\userdata\Neighborhoods
and copy the set files from there listed as N001 to you my documents\EA Games\the sims 2\Neighborhoods then you will have it back!
We are all trash

What if I want to do a complete overhaul of my game? Remove it entirely out of my computer and then install it back. Anyone knows how to do this? I am sick and tired of Pets and it's bugs >:|

You follow the instructions on the dvd for removal. They are there, really. I promise. You need to delete the actual game which should be in the Macintosh HD/Games folder if you installed it the recommended way, the "The Sims 2" folder in ~/Documents/EA Games, and about 3 files in ~/Library/Preferences. ~ means your username, for those without a Linux or Unix background.

Also go to ~/Library/Receipts and remove the base game and all eps.
