Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Just wondering how you get "xyz thanks in xyz threads" to display, and how I can give thanks if required.

Another issue/question

What are the ranks here (lab assitants and beyond).

For the thanks, you get those from downloads, etc, you've posted.

You only get thanks for items you put for upload and some special threads, like FAQs and tutorials. You just click the thanks button to thank someone, as here:

The ranks are just for fun and indicate how many posts you have made, but they don't really mean anything.
