View Full Version : How to make a full body makeup(not skin)?

I tried searching on facemasks, and found the research thread on the vampire layer, but I wasn't able to find what I was really hoping to find, which is a way to make a type of makeup that would cover some but not all of the body. In other words, I don't want it to be inherited. I want to choose what sims have it, and I want it to be removeable/changeable like makeup. I am assuming this is probably not possible, but I haven't been able to find out for sure, and think I may be searching on the wrong terms.
Here's an example of a typical use:
a makeup that would be "skinned knee" makeup
I've seen black eye makeup. Is it possible to make a skinned knee without changing the sim's skin?
I'm really sorry if this is a stupid question. I did search, and got many hits, but I could not find the answer.

Nope, you can't. I've tried over the course of many hours trying to get it to work and there's simply not an easy way to do this, beyond a skin-tight clothing as texturing, or as a skintone. Facial makeup is easily doable, but body makeup has been elusive.
It's probably -possible- as the vampire skin does an overlay and EP5 will have sunburns, but getting it to work custom, changeable in Body Shop, and put on and off at will is simply unknown right now.

Thanks so much for answering. I had that feeling after reading the vampire layer thread, but I am new to this kind of thing. You seem to be the person with the most expertise in this, so if you haven't found a way to do it, we're probably going to have to hope EP5 leads to some sort of solution. I really appreciate the work and research you have done on this.
Adding: I don't suppose there's a way to change where a face mask or other kind of makeup draws? I'm having vague memories of this:
http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=142410 which looks like they changed some sort of skin positioning info between that early version of bodyshop and the release. It's making me wonder how the game knows where to draw the makeup. Is that in the global files or in the makeup file somewhere?

That's more due to a difference in the downloaded Body Shop and that from the release game, so babies end up with weird faces. Adult skintones don't work that way, nor is that something that could be changed to work like that. The downloaded Body Shop simply uses a full body image in the face file for babies, while the release version has a face there. It's not changing the way the images are applied to the body... Maxis just changed the way they wanted the babies set up at one point and didn't edit the prerelease Body Shop to match.
krazy_tattooist - Tattoos are either done as skin-tight clothing or skintones... which I'd already mentioned in my first reply. ;)
