I used SimPE to export one of my favorite 'born in game' sims so I could have it in Bodyshop, and now that sim is invisible and if I try to do most anything with it, I get missing bone errors. I went back into SimPE to see if I could learn anything about why, and found that the character is not listed in Sum Surgery any more and in the browser she has a red background and I found entry saying it has no character data. The exported sim also doesnt show up in bodyshop like I hoped it would.
When the problems started happenning was when sim was invited downtown by a friend and I slected to have multiple sims go. Well, the 2 roomates got in the taxi, but she didnt. WHen the downtown outing was over and roomates came back home, the sim in question was still wandering on the lot. I sent her to a mirror to change appearance to get rid of a necklace that seemed half of time would give flashing blue in it's place, and when the change appearance window came up, it was some default sim face, and not hers. I tried couple more times with same result... so then I exitted to neighborhood without saving and tried going back into the lot, only then she became invisible and in current state. I also noticed that the file for her in documents directory shows she gets updated even when I don't save the lot.
I dont know if exporting her in SimPE caused the problems, or if because some bug prevented her from going downtown on the outing caused it all. It seems I've seen other posts about people exporting sims and their sims become corrupted also, but they're posts don't seem to get solved or definitive response.
Is there any way to save this sim without having had a backup? I did no editting with SimPE, only thing I used it for was to export that sim and a couple others (following instructions from a tutorial for exporting born in game sims), so no data should have been changed. Also, the sim still has all relations, memories, and all data in game seems fine.... she's just invisible....
If I had room on the harddrive to backup my sims data, I would, but that's like 3.5 GB of data from Sims2 folder in My Documents, and because that plus the game itself (most all expansions) takes up a total of like 11 GB, I only have 1GB free on my harddrive. Since I have no room for backup, I thought I'd be fine as long as I didn't change anything, dont change anything, nothing gets corrupted... aparently I was wrong.
I hope someone can help get this sim working again, she's too young to fade into nothingness so soon after graduating college.
