View Full Version : New feature for Creators - Change to Thanks

Hi All,

I've implemented today an idea from tigdadx4, and one I think is very helpful for Creators here on MTS2.

As you all know, the comments on downloads are split between Thanks posts and Feedback posts, but people sometimes don't use the correct one and post "Thanks this is great" as a Feedback type post. They then clutter up the Feedback style thread.

Prior to today, however, to get these changed required a moderator to manually go in and edit the post to change the post type - not any longer!

I've now given the creators of threads in downloads the ability to toggle a Feedback type post into a Thanks one without having access to editing the post or anything else. Essentially, this means that if you see people cluttering up your threads by posting Thanks stuff as a Feedback, you can now change it by using the little "Change to Thanks" in the top right hand corner of a post:

I hope you all like this feature, and have a nice day!

Regards
Delphy

This is great, N-loger do we have to Read endless Thanks from up-loads when MTS2 just began!
Great Thanks!
But does this mean if we WAN'T to chage them ourselves we can? For instance if we forget and just click 'feedback' automatically we can change them? The creator of the Comment?

Petchy, no, this is for the thread creators, ie the people uploading items. Not for the people actually posting comments. :)

Haven't the posters been able to do this via the edit menu any time, PETCHY14?

This is useful. :) I've only just realised that i've been pressing feedback/report instead of a thanks post. ^__^

Will the Go Advanced posting box ever have the ability to choose Thanks vs Feedback? There's also no option for same when Quoting someone's post.

Great idea, Delphi! It's worth having the server down at some times for improvements like the ones happening here at MTS2!

Great idea! As a creator I will appreciate being able to use this feature.
As a thanker I know I have accidentally clicked the wrong button when I got in a hurry *blush*

Great idea, though I probably won't use it since I read all of the comments in my threads, because there usually aren't too many, but that's a good feature though.

Thank You Delphy for taking the time to see if my dream was possible and then implementing it into the threads , I get tired of seeing a post without the thumbs up only to read it and someone saying this is great thanks !

Just goes to show what I like best about this site, Delphy, everyone shares what they can with the entire community. Although with you, it goes to encourage others to at least try and do something.

Thanks for all the time you have given to us, the entire sims community.

Thanks to tigdadx4 for having suggested this useful addition! :)

Ah, right, thanks also to Delphy for having copied a bunch of lines of code from some vBullettin site and having pasted into the MTS2 forum code...

LOL! I'm joking! Delphy, you are great!!! ;)

That's a wonderful addition, Delphy. Not only will creators be able to read the feedback, they won't have to constantly read over the thank you posts every time.

bubby_bob, getting to 1000 posts means nothing here on MTS2 you know.

Numenor, hey I totally hand coded this myself :P

sh0uriki, at the moment there are no plans to change either Go Advanced or the Quote buttons - the reason being is that Quoting is usually used to answer Feedback mostly, and Go Advanced for replying to longer posts (again, usually feedback) or for attaching files, which shouldn't come up as thanks anyway.

This was asked a long time back before when the thank thingy was introduced and finally this is made available out of sufficient amount of demands.
Thanks... :D

BTW, can you also make the reversed link, too? that a thank post turned back into a feedback post? coz there're some posts like those as well.

Thanks in advance to your concern. :anime:

Very good suggestion...but i pressed change to thanks and i don't know how to undo it. It doesn't show how many downloads or even the download files. Is that just me or when members look at it, it will show?

bubby_bob, getting to 1000 posts means nothing here on MTS2 you know.Oh yeah, i remember some guy with 10,00 posts without a specail coulered name, i guess it like, you can be the mose that says 1 thing per year and know every thing about meshing, or be a big talker, and be dumbo mcJim, i guess after many years i may be a moderater of somewhere, well still GREAT feture, it will be usefull! :D

What a great idea from tigdadx4 and thank you to the wonderful delphy for bringing it to us. cheers

p.s. silly idea but does this mean if we change all our feedback threads to thanks, do we get more thanks lol

Great work! Though I also read every single post in my threads, there comes a time when the "Thank you" feedbacks get into the majority and just make checking the thread very time consuming. Excellent change!

poundheart, changing a feedback post to a thanks post does not give you extra thanks :)

Everyone who's been saying "I posted a comment as the wrong type, what do I do onoez!?!?!", the new feature is to allow creators to recategorise other peoples' posts on their uploads.
Everyone has been able to change their own posts ever since the system was introduced, by clicking edit post - see attachment.
