Hello,
I know the answer to this is either something blindingly obvious I am missing, or it'll be that Maxis just didn't map the section I want to recolor and it has to stay white. I hope it's the former. I am trying to recolor the little girls sun dress mesh that came with seasons, with the huge plastic flowers on the sash and shoes.

I have it all recolored and perfect, except for one thing, there is a white plastic disc thing around the flowers that just won't be recolored. I tried making everything but the flower on the flowers texture (it has a separate one) black, and even that didn't change the circles color. I've also made almost everything thats not dress/ shoes /sash etc. on the dress texture black s well, still no sign of the disc changing color. I also can't find anything on the alpha that seems to conform to it to give me a clue.

I've done many many recolors before, of Maxis and custom meshes, and had things where I had to search a bit to find which area recolored them, but this is insane. I am hoping that someone who has recolored this dress before can either give me a hint as to how to get it recolored or tell me it's hopeless and can't be, so I can stop pulling my hair out. If it can't be recolored I guess I'll have to scrape up the money to finally register Milkshape and lop the flowers off, because the huge white plastic disk just doesn't look right on my goth/ punk sun dresses.

Thanks in advance for any help. I've added a pic of the dress so you can see the areas I mean.

That mesh is, well, busted. They had intended it to be an alpha mesh, but they sort of... messed up. That part alphas to skin. Try changing your mannequin's skin, reloading the project, and you'll see what I mean.

Lemme take another look at it, see if I can find material definitions associated with the flowers and fix that.

Edit: Fixed it!

You'll need to download and install that file, then go into Body Shop, make a new project from that same dress (which should have the proper flower at that point). Then copy over just the textures (bmps) from your current project into the new project folder, and all should be well. Can then import and it should be fine - or if you wanted to remove the flowers entirely, you could. :)

Ooh!!! Thanks so much HP!!!! I'll just pop my textures on fresh copies of the mesh after I install your fix then and see about the flower after. I may leave it as long as it can be colored to blend in. I actually popped the dress in game late last night and noticed the skin thing, as the flower turned green on my zombie girl lol. Thanks so for much for fixing it!! :D :lovestruc
