Mkay, so I've been experimenting with BV beach towel recolours. First I made one - tried to make it spawn autonomously like the Maxis towels - and it worked. So I figured "hey, awesome!" and made a few more. But no matter what I try, when all the towels are installed only 1 of them spawns autonomously. The rest can be chosen with the design tool in buy mode but they don't spawn by themselves. It's not that only one specific towel works - they all work on their own - but when they're all installed the game somehow just picks one to spawn. Meanwhile, all the Maxis towels spawn normally.
Here's a screenshot of one custom towel in SimPE.

And here's what I've tried:
flags - I've tried changing the flags number, it doesn't seem to have any effect. I cloned the Maxis towels to compare and they have the 0 value too so I figure that's not an issue.
objectStateIndex - There are 9 Maxis towel textures, and their objectStateIndex numbers are all different (0-8). At first my towels all used the same number - whatever the number of the texture I recoloured happened to be. When I noticed they weren't all spawning I changed the numbers to range from 9-13. Doesn't seem to have any effect.
family - I didn't touch this. All the Maxis towels have different family numbers, and so do all of mine. I figure changing this could cause the recolours to conflict with each other.
defaultMaterial - This is the only one that seems to affect anything. One Maxis texture is "True" (1) and the rest are "False" (0). My towels were recoloured from a "false" so that's the value they initially had. When the first one didn't spawn autonomously that way I changed it to "true". And that's where I'm at now. All my towels are "true" and they all spawn autonomously on their own - but when they're all installed only 1 spawns autonomously.
I didn't try anything with the other fields.
Also - when I save, go to neighborhood, then reload the lot - all the towels revert to that one spawning custom texture, whichever one it happens to be. If there's only one custom towel installed all the towels revert to that one. But if there are no custom towels installed, they keep the proper Maxis colours - they don't revert to the one "true" Maxis towel.
It's all so frustrating! I just want them to work like the Maxis towels, but they refuse. So ....any ideas? If anyone wants to try it themselves, the towel is under "Unknown/Skin del Fuego Beach Towel" in Object Workshop.
