SimPE not commiting changes when making Default

So I've been trying to make a default replacement package for aliens using the png files someone sent me. I know for a fact the files are not pixelated, but when editing the package file template for aliens the changes are not being saved. I'm using the DXT-5 way and everything gets changed/built correctly. Yet when I go to save the file, and then reload it into SimPE, the changes have not been made. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, as the only thing I can think of is I have a bad version of SimPE. Has anyone else had this issue? I've tried searching here and other places for the answer but I havn't found one yet, so any help is appreciated.

Did you remember the Commit button before leaving the resource? Unfortunately SimPE does not always remind you to commit before going to the next resource or saving the file.
