I know how to create custom window but not how to modify a Maxis window's mesh in MilkShape. I want to shorten one of Maxis windows..

How do you do it? There's no tutorial for it.. Sorry I'm very new to MilkShape :help:

Don't expect to find a tutorial specifically written for each and every possible task...
If you follow the general "start-to-finish" tutorial for meshing objects, you will get the basic knowledge about Milkshape.
EDIT: wait, you say you alredy know how to create custom windows; so, where's the problem? If you know how to create a mesh in Milkshape, how is it possible that you don't know how to edit an existing mesh? Am I misunderstanding your question?

I have a similar problem - when I try to make a hole in a mesh the window or door goes all bent - I often end up making a whole new mesh using the original as a model and just making my bits shorter - is there a tool for ungrouping or whatever? Is this the "Unimesh"?

This long window comes with Apartment Life. I was disappointed when I saw there is no short one. What did Maxis think when they created this?! It doesn't match other windows.. and a house could look weird if it had only long windows..
So I try to create short versions of the model above, I want them to look like these..

windkeeper has successfully cutted off some part of this window and made it short

I wonder how s/he did it?

I don't know exactly what you're asking here, and it's probably best if you start your own thread including pictures of the issue you're having.

Made a clone, modified the mesh to look smaller, modified the wall cutout so it would fit the new mesh, and linked it to a diagonal? If you're familiar with making custom windows, this should all be very familiar to you already - all that is really different is that you modify an existing window mesh, rather than making your own from the start.

Yes but I don't know how to edit a Maxis mesh.. How do I ungroup/separate parts of the window? I don't want to edit the whole mesh, just some parts of it..

There's no need to ungroup anything, imho; select and delete the last wooden stick (the one applied over the glass, the lowest one); then select the vertices of the lower part of the window and move them up (or move and scale vertically) until you are satisfied. I can't be more specific because I don't use Milkshape. If I have to ungroup a mesh, I weld the vertices with UVmapper and then use the Ungroup function of Wings :P .

Can anybody tell me how I unselect these red lines under the white borders?
