View Full Version : What features do you want in Sims 3?

Yes, it's in the works. No, Maxis doesn't read our suggestions (that we know of) but it's fun to brainstorm. Some things just wouldn't be possible in an expansion, but the sky's the limit with a brand new game. What would your perfect Sims 3 game be like? What features would you want? What things would you want brought back from Sims 1 or Sims 2? What things would you want them to leave out?
Me, I'd want shoes separate from outfits, a section for jewelry separate from glasses, higher poly faces, and more activities sims can do at home without having to go to a community lot. I'd also love support for more user modding done with EA tools... and a statement that Sims 3 paysites will not be allowed.
What do you want? :)

Those are very good ideas. I'd also like some flexibility in clothing, like they can wear a jacket over a dress, or a scarf in winter on top of their normal clothing, like people do in real life. And neighbourhood creator and edditing should come with the game. And more interactions, between the sims, and also between the sims and objects. And no subneighbourhoods, they take too long to load sometimes. And a built-in content categoriser/viewer would be awsome. And the possibility to load new content in game while playing, this making it unecessary to have a 10 Gb downloads folder for stuff that you don't actually use but keep in there in case you might need it sometime.

I'd also want what you wrote, seperate shoes and jewellery.
Also, I think more body meshes would be great, not just fit, average and fat. And, Sims should have different heights. That would be really great!
Plus, I hope they put more effort into clothes and skintones ... The clothes that came with Seasons and the H&M stuff pack let me hope *lol*

I'd also love to see shoes become seperated from the outfits. I hate it when you find a really nice outfit for your Simmie, only to find out they're wearing very uncomfortable looking high-heels. I also agree on an in-game neighborhood builder, it's a little ridiculous that you need to have paid for another one of their games just to make a custom neighborhood.
I'd really love to see pets in the Sims 3, but with more options. Pet shows, for one, would be brilliant. Raise the best doggy and win a prize type of thing. And breedable fishies! (Yes, that's right.. I want my Sims to breed fish). I'd also love it if my Simmies could raise cows... (And other farm-type animals, but mostly cows).
What I'd really like though, is a much more in-depth dating system. I can't stand the one they have currently, it's so.. impersonal. You can raise their relationship in one afternoon, and every Sim follows the exact same pattern of Chat, Joke, Admire, Flirt, Hug, Kiss, WhooHoo, now you're married! And maybe they'll bring over flowers if you choose to send them on a "date". I'd love a more innovative approach to this, (maybe something like the Harvest Moon games, where it actually felt like your character was "dating" another character).
Oh yes, and I'd love more variety in hair and skin color... Perhaps with a color slider of some sort. Blonde, Brown, Black, and Red just aren't enough for me, (which is why I must resort to downloading excessively!) And the skin tones didn't do much for me either.. there was no extremes on the light or dark sides.
I'd also like it if there were some kind of reward system, like contests and the like. So if you had a gorgeous house, or a beautiful Sim, you could enter them in said contests and win pretty and very-difficult-to-aquire prizes which you could then throw in the backgrounds of all your screenshots for an ego boost. I was really excited when I learned you could win prizes from the Garden Center in Seasons, until I found out there was only one prize which was fairly easy to aquire.
OH! What I'd really really really love is if they would implement the cooking/recipe options from the console version of the Sims 2, (can't remember which one..) Basically, you could harvest ingredients from your fish tank and fruit trees, and actually choose which ingredients to use when cooking. It was quite entertaining, and was actually my favorite part of the entire game. Instead of just "make chicken", it was "let's put chicken, squash, peach, and oyster together and see what happens!" It was fun to stumble upon recipes that would give your Sims a love or intelligence boost too.
And again, I'd really like to stress on the more in-depth-relationship thing. It would be so much more interesting if it actually mattered how many friends your Sim had, or how high of a relationship your Simmie had with another Sim. Currently, the only difference it makes is how many phone calls your sim recieves a day and whether or not they'll perform certain social interactions.. Oh yes, and whether or not they'll get a promotion. It just seems really mechanical to me.
Edit: Oh yes, almost forgot.. Simmies that were actually overweight. The "fat" option they have is nowhere near "fat"! They look slightly bloated, at best. And, of course, height differences. I'd love if you could actually make shorter and taller Sims, (without having to edit them with SimPE and mess up all the animations). More variety, please! I'm tired of every Simmie having identical body types and structures!

I would like my sims to be less friendly. It is near imposible to have a man and his wife having a falling out without working like a madman to ative just that.
More options in personalty and the option to pick more then one aspiration. I can never make me as a self sim as can't pick wicth aspiration I have. Something between pleasure and knowledge I would say. Perhaps made so you have a primary and a secondary aspiration.
More agegroups would be nice as well and the ablity to unlock interacting by doing special things. It could be cool if your sim would learn to be sweet or evil by doing diffrent things. I know we have mean and sweet, but it would be cool if the mean one got wishes like anoy your mom or bully your sister or things like that.
It would also be nice if the rumors in the game affected how other sims viewed your sim. If you have a rumor to be cheating **** then other girls would be less likely to fall for you so you would have to go the extra mile to get that fifth lover ;)

I have another thing I'd like to have: The option to play online. Like, keep what we have now (pre-made neighborhoods, where you can play offline), but also make an online-neighborhood, for those of us who like to play with "real" people so we don't have the same boring townies all the time ...
The only problem I see with that is the price, so far all online-games have quite high monthly fees :(

The added interactions and increased in-game customizability would be great and, yes, I'd like to see Sims of varying heights and skintone and hair color shading control via slider would be heavenly. You people are making good points here. It would also be nice if the Sims 3 would be a bit more custom content friendly.
On a more technical note, I'd love it if Sims 3 were configured to run on dual-core and quad-core computers. My problem with my Sims 2 game now is that I have to dedicate one core to the game instead of allowing my quad-core system to do its hyperthreading thing. It's almost like I don't have a powerful PC, and it is a shame, because if I didn't love my husband so much, I'd marry my computer.

Less loading screens! You can't take your Sims out without a loading screen inbetween. :(

Round walls! Octagonal towers just look silly.
Also, I'd sort of like for my sims to have unique body shapes. I'm tired of every single sim looking exactly the same from the neck down.
What else... oh yes, clothes that people might actually wear. Sometimes I feel like the clothes Maxis gave us were designed by a colorblind alien.
The ability to pick how high or low you'd like something to appear on a wall (namely windows and paintings).
I'd like my sims to be able to visit their neighbors once in a while, too. ;)

More age levels, like preteen, young adult, middle adult (young adult with out it only being at college).
Personality having more of an affect on the sims.
Someone already said this, but a slider bar option for hair color. And also a slider bar option for skin color and eye color.
All actions autonomous, so if you leave your sims alone for a little bit they don't die of stupidity...plus it would be interesting to see what your sims would do by themselves.
More interaction options for babies and toddlers.
But what I really, really, REALLY want is a better genetics system. Two sims should not have an ugly baby just because their face sturcture is not similar. In realife, how many couples have similar faces??

- school!! ( i know theres a hack, but i personally think its kinda hard)
- ages like: baby, toddler, child, preteen, young teen, old teen, YA, adult, middle aged adult, elder
- no designated lots
- more interactions
- embarrasment ( like when someone pranks a person , the person should get embarrased instead of doing it right back and starting a stupid water balloon fight)
- actual grief when someone dies , not crying for 5 seconds and then go watch tv
- a funeral
-high school graduation
- drivers liscense
- prom
- slower days
- getting hurt
- skateboarding,biking,surfing
-amusement parks
-farms
-horses
- cruises
-shoes separate from outfit
- if someones running around naked, other sims should notice instead of having a conversation with a naked sim like nothings wrong
- more body types. not normal and normal with pregnant belly. i wanna see skinny, fat, average, muscualr, bodybuilder
- sim teens can do woohoo
- beer and cigarettes
- sports
- movie theater, hospital, mall , etc....

I totally agree!
One of the biggest things I liked about The Sims 2: Bustin Out on the PS2 was the ability to visit neighbors. You can't do anything to get to know people except call (and hope they come over) or go to a community lot (and hope they're there). I also agree with the shoe thing. It'd be nice to salvage a perfectly nice set of underwear or a swimsuit by changing their "shoes" to bare feet.

Farm animals, space, fantasy (LOTR fantasy, not vampire, alien, and werewolf type stuff), and guns can wait for an expansion pack, but what I want for the actual Sims 3 game is...
1): Better AI.
It is in times like these that I believe the phrase "Nuff said" best describes the situation.
2): Cars.
I don't want to but an expansion to get them for ts3. Maxis has a car system working, have it bundled with ts3 is all I'm saying here.
3): Motorcycles.
Gahh!!! I want these so bad it hurts!! I like the Motorcycles at Mts2 but there's no animations for it! It's not the creator's fault, but Maxis for over looking this obviously needed asset! But I don't blame them, they were busy adding other things and trying hard to make it so it wasn't simply "The Sims 2: Cars." Still, I would love Maxis forever if they were to add this to the game.
4): Sports
Maxis missed out extremely with sport related stuff. Base ball, foot ball, and basket ball for starters please.
5): More realistic looking Sims.
Seriously, I would love to get realistic skin tones, eyes, and hair in my game. Really! It's just that I'm already overloaded with objects and mods that I can't afford to get any of that stuff. Please include it with the next game so I can be at peace.
6): Pets
I've realized that Pets aren't that important to my game, so this is in number 6. But still I'd love to have more options and abilities. I'd also like to not have to unlock content. That was the lowest point for me in the game, pets don't always need jobs!

Ive always wanted an animation, kinda like the special events camera (engagement, giving birth, first WooHoo, etc), that would follow your Sim's car/taxi from their home to the lot theyre visiting. Something about seeing a car or taxi stopping at stop signs or waiting for pedestrians sounds so cute to me!
Also, Id like better facial animation. I hate when a Sim frowns, the corners of his mouth turn into pointy daggers - so unrealistic :eviltongu

One other good addition would be be shorter loading screens, great graphics, and the ability to travel to neighbor's houses and community lots in the background (which LOOK like buildings, not like peices of glass in the background) with a click of the mouse and a short waiting time. So you can visit neighbors' houses too without having to control them and not your sims.

The waiting time and loading screens really depend on your system, so Maxis can really do much about that. But the prospect is nice to think about ;)

7): Lightgun arcade games.
This is mainly so it would give custom content creators animations in which to make guns, sense maxis isn't going to make guns due to them aiming for a teen rating. Just three games, one with a sniper rifle, one with a automatic rifle, and some with pistols, the sim ether holding one Jack Bower style or one in each hand, Gun Fu style.

I've been thinking lately that they should have HALF wallpapers, one for the top half of the wall, one for the bottom. It's really so you can mix and match because I've scrolled through the wallpapers many a times and thought "that wallpaper would look better with THAT wood colour" and stuff...
that's my only input at the moment, it's too early to think right now for me :p

* I'd really like the characters to be more lifelike and have more animated responses. The sims as characters really are way to wooden.
* I'd like to see age, height, and weight be done more diversely. I'm tired of fit, lightly overweight, and normal being the only default widths. Add fat people and I don't want to see different special meshes for them. Make the same outfit fit a fatee that it would a beanpole. Let there be differences in height (short, normal, and tall) using a stretch charcteristic but with the ability to interact correctly with other sims of different heights. I also would like to see height and age blend.
* I'd like the see the time flaw (going out to a community lot for 3 days and then returning with no time missing) fixed. Also lowering loading times and allowing travel to other residents lots in game would be a must.
* Need to keep the game open for modding ....
* I don't necessarily think we even need a graphical overhall. I'd rather keep some of what already exists and just improve the gameplay. But hey that's me.

.body editing. sims should not all be the same bodyshape. i can understand height but seriously, not all fit women have the same cup size! lol
.all the sims2 expansions included in the sims3. university, nightlife etc. converted into sims3.
.a way to convert sims 2 sims, clothes, homes, and objects to sims 3..
.a way to convert people pictures to sims.
.an easier meshing system. perhaps just draw it and it meshes.
.and more animations, voices, and *GASP* complex personalities.

I've said this before and I'll say it again!! It's boring to have your sim go to work and all you can do meanwhile is speed through the day looking at the empty house!!! This is why I like OFB but I think the game should be expanded so that you could follow your sims to work and see what they do all day! What's the fun of getting them different careers, such as adventurer, criminal mastermind, etc., when it all plays the same way - they go to work and they come home. :einstein
Also I'd like more variety in skin tone, body type and height such as others have said. I'd also like some of the creators on this forum to be consulted as to style for clothes, furniture and build items. Maxi's stuff generally sucks so much my downloads folder is packed with custom content in order to make everything and everyone look good in game!!
I'd also like them to be able to visit neighbors and still be playayble as others have also suggested. When Sim Jones wants to play with Sim Smith's cat - how do you do that otherwise??? I really feel the need for this ability so often!!
'Nuff said!!

i like everybodys idea.. i also want teen sims to be able to get pregnant and u can be able to have 1-4 kids at one time without a hack and child support without a hack. plus more food, better looking houses. and more money than 20,000 maybe like 50,000 and all the houses range from 1-7 bedroom houses, saying how many beds and baths without you moving in to find out. plus way more clothes and shoes should be seprate from clothes so should jackets, scarfs, gloves and hats should deffinetly be diffrent from hair. and way better looking cars. plus you should be able to take your toddlers and babies with you when you go downtown. there should be carseats, strollers and you should be able to visit a sims house without having to go into that game and then call that family over there. plus way more people to invite over. and divorce, breakup and get back together options.

8): Fix the frozen time when on community lots problem
I thought of a way to do this!! Time freezes when you leave the lot, and it remains frozen until the Sims you took to the community lot decide to return home, THEN the cool stuff happens!
My idea is that when the Sims decide to return home and they get into the car, the game will scan to see whether there were any selectable Sims on the home lot. If they were active Sims when the Sims who left for the community lot left the home, you'll play the game for however long it was that the Sims on the community lot where gone.
So to make it sound easier I'll put it like this: Lets say Joe goes shopping at a community lot, Bob decides to stay home. So we have Joe go to a community lot and let's say he was gone for exactly 1 hour. When Joe finishes shopping he calls for the taxi and gets in it when it arrives. Then suddenly we've gone back in time to the house, Joe has just left, but we're not playing him any more, we're playing Bob. So for 1 entire hour we play Bob, then after 1 hour Joe returns, because he only stayed on the community lot for 1 hour before returning home.
So by doing this we can play BOTH people and not have time freezing for 1 and not the other.
This could also work if we were to follow our Sims to work, after a Sim goes to return home from work the game checks if there were (or were going to be) any Sims on the lot while the said Sim was at work. If there were any Sims while the said Sim was at work then you'll play them until they need to leave for work or the Sim that was working returns home.
What do you think?

I can think of a few things I would like in Sims 3:
- Driving tests. A child thats just grown up into a teen cannot suddenly learn to drive just like that, and get a licence.
- Optional school bus. Not all kids catch the bus. I was dissapointed they didn't add this in Nightlife. We were given the option to take the kids to school in the car, but why bother when the bus comes anyway?
- Group conversations. I want sims to be able to have a group chat, without having to sit on the floor.
- Gradual aging. Need I explain?
- The idea of having a primary and secondary aspiration, as someone said earlier.
- More mess. Yes, everyone likes clean but sims houses NEVER get messy. The worst that happens is a few roaches on the road or a pile of garbage in the middle of the living room. I'd like everything to get messy, to get worn out. Sofa's don't stay perfect for generations and generations.
- Better ability for sims to cope with emergencies. When there's a fire, sims just dance around it. If I saw a fire I would call the fire brigade immediately, not dance around like a loony.
That's all I can think of for now, but I may be back with more.
crocobaura
24th Jun 2007, 09:32 PM
 How do we know that the sims do have a driving licence?
I wouldn't like the idea of furniture getting worn, it would be too much of a hassle to take care even of the couches. If you want a reason to change the furniture, get a pet. :P
I also think it's dumb how they dance around the fire. Who does that in real life???

Kids can jump on beds, when I did that I was told not to or the bed would break- why doesn't theirs? That'd be fun, and seeing them getting a lecture from their parents?
You should get a choice whether you want the newspaper delivered or not
Purchasable DVDs and stuff? Like, how you can buy games, you should be able to buy DVDs (and CDs) of stuff.... maybe even Sim films we've made? I'm sure that'd be good for (other) Sim films and stories where the Sims watch like home movies etc
Injuries! You should be able to bang into the table and chairs and be clumbsy like people- fall down the stairs, fall off of the swing--
that brings me onto another thing, when teens sneak out, they should go to their bedrooms (another thing, without those college doors, you should be able to assign respectable bedrooms) and be able to CLIMB out of the window! Continuing from the clumbsyness, you should be able to fall from the rope or whatever and the teen's friend should be able to get out of the car and help them up or something.
Oooh, another idea- teens shouldn't just have to sneak out, they should be able to sneak friends IN. Get busted a few times raiding the fridge, making out in the living room by the parents.
There should be music that a particular Sim likes, like some Sims autonomously(sp?) switch too Oldies or Metal and Rock shouldn't be optional only in college.
Some Sims should be able to be vegan or vegetarian without always having salads forever- you select the option and when you select the fridge, special options should come up.
The option for Sims with 2 different coloured eyes, maybe?
Face masks that DON'T look ridiculous ¬_¬
umm... don't think I know any more at the moment lol

i also think that the music should be real they got diffrent stations so under it they should put real artist music... like on pets they got a pcd song on there in simlish they is so annoying it should just be the real song under pop just like hilary duff and etc.. just as hip hop should be the editted versions of t.i, lil wayne , souja boy and stuff like that.

I would LOOOVE if things had more steps. Like ... changing the babies diaper. Maybe they should make us buy the diapers and the wipes and things like that.
I`d love it if they had more options for the baby, besides play and cuddle.
Also, it`d be nice if you could go to work with them, but it`d be a split screen so you could keep watch on the house, but also help with the work.
I don`t think I would buy Sims 3 though ... I`ve invested a lot of money for the expansion packs && plus my compute can hardly handle Seasons!
Hopefully I`ll invest in a new computer before then ...

i would really like if we could got to work/school with are sims. i mean that would be great and choose what they do to.
when you go downtown or just for a drive YOU control the car with the arrow keys on the keyboard or the mouse and when you go to the store you have to go up and down the asile(sry if its spelled wrong) looking for a parking space to me that would be fun.
i want longer days. the days right now are to short and months and years added too ( have it like the ds or somewhat) sports need to be added i get so bored playing the sims now i mean i have more fun downloading things for my sims the when i go play i get bored same with a new ep i have fun for a week then im bored
pregancy to be longer i found great looking clothes for preggy sims but i dont get to see them in it for long
messing up the rooms would be fun and your parents punishing you because of it
BIGGER varity of cars not just the ones you download(and some of them aren't that good no offense)
and i would love to be able to interact with ppl on the web through the sims. i wanted to do that with sims1 but since i wasnt old enogh for work and i didnt want to ask my mom to pay every month i didnt have it
how about this put everything from the real world into the game from cells, todiffernet tv providers(dish, cable etc,)

I want Ea/Maxis to make it easier to mod the sims. They should make a more advanced version of Bodyshop, and other programs so that meshes are not so complicated and custom animations would be possible!! Other than that, everyone's already got such good ideas for what they want, so here's some things that I don't want.
-too much realism.. its a game, and I think it should look/act like one! I like sims to look like sims, not creepy fake-looking people o_O And if sims had to do their laundry every day, and all that other mundane real-life stuff, the game would never progress!
-too much realism.. yeah I said it twice. This one is for the violence, drugs, etc that people want. I think EA/Maxis should try to keep the teen rating (which I'm sure they plan to do) but leave it open for modders to fill in the blanks for the more mature players. By this I bring myself back to the idea of programs that make modding easier, which I think Ea/Maxis should've done with Sims 2.
-Advertisements in-game. I'm scared about this one, with all of the "sponsored downloads" on the official site. Hopefully they'll keep them to downloads and not include them in the game.
-Useless stuff. There's toooons of interactions, situations, furniture, etc that I neveverever use in my game, and it makes me wonder how much faster it'd be/how much less space it'd use if they weren't there. Maybe there'd be a (easier) way that we could pick and choose whether we wanted to keep certain things? I know some people want interactions that other people don't, like how I never use "primp" but so many people missed it when Pets made it disappear. The same thing with Maxis furniture/BS stuff, my catalog would be sooo much shorter if I could delete unwanted Maxis furniture.
-Uneeded high-end graphics, etc, that just muck everything up. Don't you just love how Stories was pretty much the same as the full game, but it easily ran on computers that didn't even have a chance with Sims 2? *rolls eyes* I'm on a laptop and I play The Sims 2, with almost no problems, except for the fact that my graphics card is entirely incompatible. This is a very touchy subject with me, lol, because I just have to wonder how two very large, popular companies (Eaxis and nVidia) somehow managed to completely mess up each other's software and cause people's games to crash after about 20 minutes. :'(

-Better animation. It drives me insane watching sims' animated, highly unrealistic facial expressions. I want their faces to look smooth and not necessarily realistic, but not so exaggerated and dagger-like, either. Another animation that annoys me is their style of kissing- surely it must be possible to make it look like one of the sims isn't trying to eat the other's face or suck it clean off. To me, it seems like Maxis got a little sloppy on some of the animations and they turned out jagged and choppy.
-More gradual transitions between age groups. It baffles me watching a sim go from a life stage that appears to be about eight to a life stage that appears to be around sixteen. I'd like to see the sims' facial features slightly mature and watch them grow taller- maybe even, between childhood and teenhood, watch them go through puberty. I'd love it if adults' faces slowly wrinkled over time, if their hair got streaked with gray. I know this would be very difficult to implement in the game, but it's something I'd love to see.
-More variety in sims. Instead of four clear-cut hair colors and skintones, sliders would be wonderful. That way, we could customize different shades of hair and tones of skin; we could in-between colors rather than cookie-cutter sims that all look the same. I'd like to have a little more flexibility in my sims' coloring, not to mention their body shape. Stick-thin and a "fat" bodytype that looks more bloated than overweight don't cut it- I want thin, average, obese, slightly overweight, toned, bodybuilder, fit, lanky, short, tall... I want flexibility and variety.
-As many have said earlier, seperate shoes and jewelry options. I can't tell you how many times I've downloaded an outfit and then been disgusted by the choice of shoes. It would also be nice if we could have layerable clothing- i.e. jackets, sweaters, and scarves that can be layered over regular clothing. This would add a lot of realism to the game, not to mention that it would be a major plus for the new weather aspect- no more changing into outerwear.
-Better clothes and furniture. Maybe Maxis needs to send scouts out to clothing and furniture stores to be up on trends and what people are interested in, but the clothing and furniture they have in the game now sure doesn't interest me in the least. Perhaps they should stop trying to use obscure themes that no one would ever think of and just do regular stuff. There's no need to try and impress us with originality- just give us things that are functional and good-looking, not odd stuff that might impress us.
Well, rant over. Everyone here has some great ideas :)!

As people have already said more options for body type, hair and eye colors and such. (I wouldn't care so much about making my sims fat or skinny since I want all my sims to be attractive, but to be able to modify their bodies like you can their face would be nice, like make a sim have bigger hips or boobs, or broader shoulders or something) Ability to pick shoes separate from the rest of the outfit, and jewelry. More and better clothes, definitely not the current crap Maxis makes lol. (And not no H&M stuff either lol, most of that stuff was ugly....I had never even heard of H&M before the EP....) I actually liked some of the clothes from OFB...it seemed more of what actual people would wear lol.
I pretty much like Sims 2 as it is. I wouldn't care much for better graphics though, because Sims 2 JUST runs on my system. I have all my graphics on Sims 2 at their lowest and it lags sometimes, it used to lag REALLY bad but I added 2 expansion packs and it seemed to run better for some odd reason.....don't ask me XD....maybe it was something else I did.....I don't know) Yeah better graphics would mean I would have to buy a whole new computer actually meant for gaming, and I don't have that kind of money lol.
And complex interactions or whatever would be nice, but I don't know how exactly they would go about doing that. And being able to watch your Sims work instead of waiting for them to come home would be nice like someone else said. Or at least have it to where you don't have to wait if you are the only person in your house and it will skip all that time. lol
And a comment on the Teen sims being able to get pregnant....yes it would simulate the abilities of real life, but it would show low moral values of the creators of the game, and parents might think it a bad influence. Same with the beer and cigarettes lol. Promotion of low moral values and bad habits is not something the company wants I don't think lol.

And yeah.....I basically agree with PunkyBreester. The game is not supposed to be overly realistic. It's a game! Not real life.....If you want realism then get off you lazy bum, go call some of your REAL life friends (or make some if you don't have any) and go to the mall or something lol instead of playing the Sims lol. The game being overly realistic would mean you would need a very high performance computer to keep up with it, and most people don't have the money to buy high performance computers. You can always make or get mods if you want things to be more realistic.

canabalisim! think of it, if johnny sim dies in a fire, instant barbeque! save on the grocery bills for sure.
(just in case anyone doesn't understand typed sarcasam..that was a JOKE, get it? good, lets move on then)
i agree with some things, round walls for one..i'd love to be able to recreate some of these floor plans that have the curved foyer walls but the best i can do is octagonal.
body sliders- just as you can with every create a character in any game i've played (sims excluded of course) i want to be able to adjust hips, bust, neck length (oh that one drives me crazy, cute little face with a giraffe neck, ugh) etc. as well as layering clothing (they did it with pets fur why not coats, stockings, etc?) just to name a few little changes to the BS department
better/more interactions between parents and kids (all ages) i'd like to be able to make mom lecture or otherwise punish the boys when they get into a fist fight in the living room. i'd like to see little suzy get a skinned knee while running around playing cops n robbers let dad fix the booboo and console her...theres an action we need for sure 'console' for instances of death, cheating, job loss or otherwise..sims need to be able to show compassion.
also i would really like the gossip to have a consequence..example..i had dad cheat on his wife with a townie in front of the kids (who imediately lost their relationship points down to -15) i then had the daughter go 'gossip' to mom about it and mom just giggled (like thy always do). this is where that compassion thing helps too...if sims have 'feelings' (nothing overly complex but something) it would make the game alot more indepth.
that being said....do we actually KNOW anything about ts3 other than it is in production?

This is quite a long list but there's so much to improve with the game!
- I'd like to have more options when customizing/creating a sim. We need more options like where their ears are placed, option to widen the forehead, wrinkles, freckles, etc. I just hate how unrealisting wrinkles are in the game and aren't freckles needed? A lot of people have freckles and we can't really only on other creators. I'd love moles, bigger or smaller, placement, ect. I don't want to make a face mask everytime I want a mole. I'd love the option to customize skin, darker or lighter, more freckles or less, more moles or less, where the moles are. I'd love to change the size of feet. Some guys have bigger feet, some smaller, same goes for girls. Height is quite important for me. I hate how everybody is the same size. I'd like height difference between couples, family, etc. I'd definately love to have an option to change the cup size. I'd like more types of bodies. Making options for every body part would definately be great. City Of Heroes has really great costumization. You can change the bodyshop really well so it would be great if the Sims 3 borrowed that kind of idea.
- It'd be cool if hair could grow and the sims would have to got to the hair parlor to get it trimmed and cut and when they're getting hair cuts, you could change their hair. You could trim it on one side, add extensions. With this, we wouldn't have to take time and make meshes and wait for everything. You would just create it with the click of a button. I'd really love if we could customize hair, make strands here or there. I hate how everybody's sims look the same with the hair. Hopefully, we can customize hair by ourselves without taking days to make meshes, and then texturing them.
- Hopefully Sims 3 will have ages. I hate how everybody is classified into baby, toddler, child, teen, adult, elder. I wish we had ages. Like the father would be 40 and the child could be 16. I'd really love age-apropriate things. Like, you can't drink until you're 21 or you can't smoke until 18.
- I'd love more animations and events like your first period, when you have the sex talk, etc. It'd be very interesting with these events and animations. I'd really love to have teenagers tell their parents that they're having sex/woohoo or smoking, doing drugs, or they're drinking. Although I think these things will raise the rating to M (mature) which would hurt EA and Maxis so it'd probably not happen.
- I'd rather not have expansion packs. I wish everything necessary and realistic will be included in the base game. Cars, pets, community lots, turn ons and offs, etc. I hate spending thirty bucks everytime something new comes out. I'd rather buy a game that's 50 bucks with everything included instead of buying millions of cds and buying everything for thirty.
- I wish we had more control over careers. We'd have careers in music and the choice of music, acting and type of acting, doctor and what type of doctors, etc. I'd be loads of fun and I'd LOVE to be able to go to work with the sims. I'd love to do decisions and play mini-games while doing every action like performing surgery or making a single. Loads of fun and very realistic. Maybe you can write your own simlish songs when you're a star or choose what movies you want. I'd love more of a rollercoaster for careers. I'd also remove the need of having friends for every career level. Adults you make have no friends and if they aren't very friendly or anything they won't get many friends.
- I'd love to have better parties where you can drink and smoke, parties for music stars, premiere parties, wedding parties. More realistic animations!
- Different views like 1st person, 3rd person. Where you can look from their views or see them while they walk and you hover over them.
- More detailed thoughts were you can read what they think in the upper right section like 'Oh my god. This premiere is rocking! Hopefully the manager won't be angry for talking to Scarlett Johansson.' or something along those lines. And more detailed conversations. Bubbles with random signs don't really tell you anything. Simlish translator on the top right which will show like a scene would be great.
- Being able to go to school with children, make friends, be bullied, etc. Have realistic grades where you have to take tests for your sims and go to class and every day after school your sim reviews the notes and you recieve the information needed to pass tests. I'd love to have SATs in the game where you have to take a 10-15 minute test where you answer common questions, math questions, english questions and maybe some funny sim questions like they do when you're installing the games. Tests and grades show what colleges you can go and you can recieve acceptance or rejection letters. You can also drop out of school if you're failing or need to support your family.
- Different religions. I'd love to have Jewish, Christian, Muslim, etc. families which can be very religious or not very religious and can go to church and have morals and beliefs. Holidays that are for certain religions like Hannukah or Christmas can be celebrated more closely.
- Different cultures. Some families can be very connected to their roots and some may not. Some may be against other family member's beliefs.
- Ability to fly to other countries. It'd be great if my families can have the ability to fly to Africa or Australia or Russia and see climate change.
There's so much I don't even want to get into it x___x I feel like a dork now.

Just remembered an idea I had ages ago...
you should be able to combine hair styles and not cc or in bodyshop... while in CAS, you should be able to select a hairstyle (any colour) and select another on top or something (any colour) like the one with the fringe and clip at the back to put the little bit of hair up... combined with the hair that is just straight down to make a straight down style with fringe... if you understand hehe...

I'd like to be able to place garages sideways without cheats and have the car turn to get out of it or into it. I'd like my Sims to visit eachother and I'd like my Sims to be able to own multiple houses; then they could have a holiday home and a normal house! It would also be nice if you're Sims could wash their own clothes, they would wear them for 24 hours (Sim time) then a menu would pop up asking you to choose a different outfit while the one your wearing is washed, you would choose the outfit and then your Sim would change and put their old outfit in the washing machine object. The outfit will dissapear from the wardrobe until it's washed and a Sim has put it back in the dresser.
I think I've said enough! Great ideas everyone.

There is a lot of stuff I want, so here it goes,
I want gradual aging, and more realistic time differences. Like a twenty day year with the five day seasons, but then the sims can have a better birthday, actually on the day they were born, and they actually go from six to seven, or one to two.
And I think that the objects instead of saying they can be used by toddlers and children, they can be used by ages 2-10, or whatever.
Babies have more options, like they can be in their little swing, or you can put them in a carseat and take them downtown with you.
And Ithink that parents should be able to dicipline their children, like when you see your sims playing with the fridge, your sims parents can scold them and send them to their rooms.
Sims should also be able to visit their neighbors, like they walk their and instead of the wierd loading screen you just see your sims walking like in Bustin Out, same thing with cars. And when your sims have children home with them, they should be able to walk with them, or buckled up in their strollers until their like 4.
I think that sims should be able to have their own rooms, but more spacifically beds. It's not normal for Mom to sleep on the couch while her kid sleeps in her bed, when they have their own beds, but then when your sims share a room they know where they sleep.
I also like the idea that other peoplehad about the sliders for things like hieght and fat, but I think that is something that should also be affected by lifestyle, like you can make them skinny, but if they overeat they get gradually fatter, instead of all of a sudden"OMJ! I'm fat!"
We should also have more build options, like the curved walls, or sidways garages, and wall height.
Sims should have to manually change their clothes, so if they are too tired to change then they can sleep in their everyday outfit, and wake up looking like they did. We should also have a closet option, like it's a armiore, but you can put it in a one-by-one, or a two-by-one wall cavity, or even a clothes hanging on a bar thing so we could have walk in closets too.
That's it for right now, but I'll be back.

I want to see...
The sims being different heights. Like you're able to set what height they are once they get to a certain age group.
The parents have a "scold" option for their children.
Sims being able to bring thier babies and toddlers to another sims house with them.
More building options.
More body types or us being able to restructure their body types like we are with their faces instead of having to download body meshes.
More turn-ons/offs
More aspirations
Maybe some extra curricular activities the children are able (such as sports, karate, etc.) to have like the teens are able to have jobs.

I'm going to be much more realistic in my expectations (so as to not be disappointed)
1. Height differences, but only 3, like short, average, and tall.
2. There is no good reason why cars, seasons/weather, and pets shouldn't be available in the base game.
3. Slightly more gradual aging. I don't want years in the game, it would make their lifespans too long, but add a few more lifestages while shortening established ones. Middle aged adults would good, something in between teen and child (just don't call it tweens, yech!), and something between child and toddler.
4. I do not want to experience our sims workdays or school days (unless it's college or entrepreneurship). The game would be so boring. One day in Sim time would be too close to one day our time.
5. Bodyshop more detailed. Two different color eyes, choose shoes, layered cloths, etc.
That's it for now.

1. I want to see longer pregnancys.
2. I want to see the sim age from a baby to a toddler. I want to see them grow their hair, getting teeth, gradually getting the ability to walk. I want to see my sim go from a 1st grader to graduating highschool.
3. I want the ability to be homeschooled. I was homeschooled, and I'm probably going to be homeschooled once I get into highschool. I don't want my sims have to go through the same pains of public school, unless I want them to.
4. I want to FOLLOW them to school! I want to see them interact with the kids around them, like for example I want to see little Sue hang out with her big brother Joe. Or I want to see twins hang out with the same group of people or different. For example Sue hangs out with the popular girls, and Lily hangs out with what seems to be the rejects.
4a. This year at school my math teacher was pregnant, and cranky(hehe... don't hurt me all you pregnant ladies out there). I want, if I made a family and the mom works at the school, and she and the husband decide to have a baby. I want her to tell her students, or gradually let them find out (like we did. XD).
5. I don't want them to have an automatic personality. I want them to grow one as they get older. If they hung out with the popular kids at school when they were younger, and then something happened (they got the reputation of the school two-timer) and their personality could change because they lost their friends, or they could continue to be themselves.
6. I want the hair to grow! I'm tired of staring at the same boring hair over and over! If John cut his hair really short, but has a want of getting it long (because he heard the girl he likes likes guys with long hair) he grows it out, or his mother makes him cut it off!
7. I want different heights. I'm 13 years old and taller than both of my parents (one being 6 foot, and the other being 5 foot 5) if I want to create a realistic me, or one of my book's characters, they can't be shorter than their parents.
8. A want a year to have all 4 seasons, and if your sim's birthday is the 5th sim day of spring, than after all of the 4 seasons passed they can age to however old they are.
9. I want longer relationships. If your sim likes another sim, and that sim confesses that he/she likes them back, they become a couple. But if they have difficulties through their relationship, like one sim is cheating on the other, this affects them each day they continue to be in a relationship after that cheating cycle starts. For example if Helen is dating George, and then she decides to two-time George with Jordan, her relationship goes down with George, but George's relationship with Helen stays.
10. I want a sim to be suspicious that they are being cheated on. Like the Daniel and Mary-Sue issue, I want not Mary-Sue to be clueless, I want her to see the maid's number or texts on his phone. Or mysterious flowers, that they didn't order.
11. I want sims to have Holidays, like Fourth of July (for those American buyers) or Christmas/Hannuka (I have no idea how to spell that), birthdays, and random sim holidays that Maxis decides to throw in there.
11a. Winter vacation. Let your sims get the holidays off, like thanksgiving or Christmas. Let them have 2 weeks equilivant (sp?) of sim time, that's how long I get winter vacation. And during this time, there can be snow or not. Sometimes we don't get snow.
11b. That last sentence brings me up on the top of climates. For the sim players who live in Canda, I've been told it's cold, in Florida/California/Texas it's warm, generally you don't get snow. In the Kentuckiana area we get snow, and sometimes TONS, but usually when they say it's going to snow it's a false alarm.
11c. SUMMER. Why do sim-kids have to go to school when it's summer? Even if the season is only 4 days long, they should get some kind of vacation.
12. Pets and cars. If you get a great dane puppy, I want this puppy to age overtime just like sims. If the sim somehow doesn't KNOW they got a great dane, I want them to be like, "Woah.. um... is he/she supposed to get this big?" And on the subject of cars, if you have a family (let's say the Smith family) and you start out with George Smith, and then he gets married to Jasmine. They have kids, and they give their kid, Jane, their car. When Jane has her own kids, and they can drive I want the car to look older.
13. I want aging objects, basically the same thing I said about the cars.
14. I want injuries, when your sim goes out in a car there is always a risk of getting hurt, and even a higher risk if on a motorcycle or bicycle. I want my sims to get a phone call from the hospital saying so and so got hurt.
15. I want visable hospitals and jobs. You can visit the hospital when your sim has a baby, or someone gets hurt, or if your sim is a doctor they can get paged when someone got hurt, or someone has gone into labor.
16. When your sim is pregnant, I don't want a lullabye, though that's a happy moment for me most of the time. I want her to be getting sick, and have a missed period, or whatever Maxis may call it. If she's completely oblivious to all of it, I want her to slowly gain a stomach, and she can be like, "Oh... umm I guess I'm pregnant!"
17. I want time to age in all houses, so when you play one family, and their grandchild is soon to be born, I want them to get a call from their family member and something pop up like, "Hey mom, dad! Sue just had the baby, it's a baby girl! We haven't decided on a name yet, but we want your opinion. Come on over to the hospital!"
18. Favorite types of music, if sim A despies rock, but they're friends with sim B who loves it, they can have a bit of an issue in their friendship, or just get over it.
19. More interactions.
20. If your sim is pregnant you should be able to plan out names, and they should be able to find out if it's a boy or girl. If it's a girl, you get to plan up to 4 names, and then as time goes by your sims (yes your sims) get to pick the name of their kiddo. Or if they chose to not chose a name, they have choices, of girl and boy, and they still pick.
21. Adoptions, if your sim can't take care of the baby, or they just don't want it, they can put them up for adoption. A random (or picked) family shows up and takes the baby, or if it's twins babies. There should also be the option of being able to give two babies to two different families.
22. More AI, I want my sims to know if they want to adopt a baby, and actually sign up on the adoptions list so they can possibly be one of the adopters.
23. College, during the four years of college, you should be able to get married and have a baby. If you choose to live in the dorms and you're married, you live in a married dorm. If your sim squeezes out a kid, and can't handle the school life, they should be able to get kicked out or drop out. However if one sim wants their spouse to continue to get an education, they should be able to live off campus, but still go to college.
23a. During college you should be able to get into relationships with the teachers, and get married to them (only if they're young though, or younger) and have kids.
23b. I think you should be able to go to college when you're older. We've all seen it on tv. Why can't our sims do it?
24. Being able to visit neighbors. These neighbors may be childhood friends of your main sims, or your younger sim's best friends. If you decide to like your sim to spend the night at a friend's house, you should be able to have the option of following them there, or staying with the main family.
24a. If your older sims, volenteer to let a younger family member, or a friend's kid come over. If the child is young (1-4) it'd be like babysitting, they can be cranky past a certain time, or bug your sim's to death(not literally). Or if the child is closer to their child's age, they can either clash or have tons of fun, or both.
I think that's everything. XD For now... :evilnod:

I totally agree with the hole follow them to school
that would be cool and go to work with your adult but it would all be like choice. Like a pop up would be like would you want to go.
And i think the teens are like 16 year olds, i think there should be preteen and like mid elder like 40s and stuff.

Well, the biggest thing for me would be real time ageing (you don't just spin around, sparkle and then suddenly look completely different). I'd like to slowly watch Joe Bob's hair gray and develop wrinkles. I want my kid Sims to slowly get taller as they age. The current ageing system wouldn't have to be abolished, they could stiil give us the reminders that a birthday was coming up. Just instead of changing their looks, they start on their next stage of life.
Also, I think it should be mandatory to buy clothes. We need groceries, why are we magically supplied with clothing?

You aren't magically supplied with clothing. You get one set of clothes in bodyshop, or when they grow up, but then you have to buy if you want more. Unless you have a hack to get them at home.

I was talking about when you grow-up you get some random set of clothes. If Sims were to age in real time, they'd need larger sized clothes as they grew.

I'm not excited about Sims 3 at all but oh well...
I completely agree with this. I once wanted to create some really pale, skinny guy who has a bad posture but I just can't. Not with the possibilities the game offers me.
- Definitely more interactions. This is only one example but if there's several ways to hug then why there can't be more than one way to slap? Also... interactions between chldren and older sims are just pathetic.
- More realistic reactions. I personally think it's pretty silly that they don't care that my sim was selling toys only wearing his underwear. Some of them should think it's hilarious, some would think it's gross and some of them wouldn't just care. And when my vampires are biting other sims, the others really should react in some way or another. Now they don't bother it at all which is just idiotic.
- More personality traits. I would love to create sims who would have habits which nobody else really does. In reality there are people who are overly calm or overly aggressive. I would so like to create a sim who would act very cold and calm and never cry or laugh. Then he could have a total opposite: totally hyper guy who overracts to everything. They also could have some little personality traits like the way they stand or walk; one could almost always keep his hands in his pockets, one would love to eat his fingernails etc etc. There are tons of possibilities.
There are many more little things which I would love to see but these were the ones which first came to my mind.

Now that I think about it I'll be happy if they have four things:
1: Better AI
This applies to many things. Like said above Sims should care about certain things. But that doesn't mean they have to do their shock animation and flip out like a cartoon. Certain sims should react one way and others another way. For instance a overly shy Sim would react to a Sim selling toys in their underwear by being noticibly uncomfortable, but quiet if they were nice. But if were, say, Mrs. Crumple Bottom to see a Sim selling toys in their underwear, then obviously you'd see some purse smacking and lecturing.
So better AI would mean smarter and more intelligent and perceptive Sims, but better AI should also mean more complex personalities. This has been talked about a lot so I can't find much to add.
2: Cars
They're appart of the Sims universe so much now that you can't possibly think about removing them! And make the inside of the cars more detailed and less crap like!
3: Make the game 1000% easier to modify
Make it easier to make custom animations and to add custom sounds, I'm NOT a modifier of the Sims 2 but it is my understanding that it is difficult to make new animations currently.
4: More realisim
It is a game, but it does get kinda old watching my Sims do very cartoon like things. All I'm saying is remove the smoke cloud when Sims fight, remove the stars around a Sims head when he gets slapped, make Sims slap only once when they slap someone, make Sim expressions LOOK better, etc.

The better the game is the harder it is going to be to modify, there is just no way around that.

I just thought of another one: The ability to transfer Sims 2 characters to Sims 3.
I think it'd be nice not to have to make entirely new sims if you already have a few that you like (I realize CC problems may arise though).

i really want to see more interactions between just friends. there are so many interactions for lovers and such but there are hardly any between sims that are best friends but not in a love sort of way, i wish there was something that was more like what best friends actually do like the tell secrets interaction that they already have for children but they could have for adults too. it is also pretty annoying how sims can have a good platonic relationship but then the second they do something even the tiniest bit romantic they fall deeply in love. you should have to build up love interactions first.
i also wish that you could mix aspirations because in real life, people are never one aspiration completely. Maybe they could have a system like the personality setup where you assign different points to each aspiration so you could make some aspirations stronger but still have more than one.
There are also a lot of random family relationships you can't make in the cas screen that could be useful. like you cant make two sims married but have like one child that is only the mothers child because it was with a previous marriage for example. also you cant make a teenage sim and an adult sim be siblings which i really wanted one time for a family i was making.
i do really like the sims 2 much better than the sims 1 because it added so much more to gameplay but i really think ea can just take everything to the next level with sims 3 and make it as better from sims 2 as sims 2 was from sims1.

 Thank god! I thought I was the only one who thought about the things that would make Sims 2 better! I thought up a few ideas...tell me if you agree, I 'm more than interested to here your comments.....
1.) I feel it's odd that it will go from day to night so sharply, I think they should make the day become brighter from dawn to afternoon and darker from afternoon to evening. Let me explain.. so at like 4:00am the sky will slowly turn yellowish than pinkish around 5:00am like the sun is rising, and then keep get lighter untill like 10:00 maybe. Then its normal lighting untill 3:00pm. At that time the sky will slowly start to get yellowish and pinkish at stuff like the sun is setting and it will turn a twilight around 7:00 and then slowly darker untill night. I also think you should see the sun and moon rising and setting. Please post a complaint if you don't understand what I mean.
2.) Clouds, rainbows, stars etc. And fog, maybe.
3.) I think the neighborhood should be visable even when your playing. Like if you look out the window or go outside you see the houses and streets and community lots laid out like if you looked down your real street and say you see the grocery store thats like 8 blocks away. What i mean is like it looks more like..real. Also they could be able to walk down the street pass where their lot ends and walk to their neighbors and chat with them or walk to the grocery store and see the houses going by as you walk. And be able to control them still, like make them stop on the way to the park to talk to a man walking pass or smell your neighbors flowers. And you should be able to drive like that too and walk your dog or push your baby in their stroller or just have a whole family stroll. And they should have grocery stores where theres ailes and butcher and so many products like a real store. And they should have theaters, malls, returants (not only in the buissness expansion pack) like a real neiborhood.
3.) They should be able to dress their newborns and shop for baby clothes, have blankets ( cause don't they always look so cold) anD real cradles not todderler cribs. And have a whole section in buy options and build options for a nusery. They should have strollers, carriers and those little toys. The mom should breastfeed them and have baby moniters so the parents can relax. They should also be able to take them places. Also when the moms pregnant she should be able to shop for maternity clothes and stuff. And the pregnancy should be gradual like the mom slowly getting a baby bump unstead of all the sudden spinning around and have her belly pop out. And they should have their water break and drive to a hospital and wait ing a waiting room and have the baby with a doctor delivering it. Then they could have the sedimental thing of bringing the baby home.
4.) Teens should get acne and between kid and teen they should go through puberty like for girls well you know.. also they should be able to get pregnant so its more dramatic and real.
.5) More options when making sims, like height, bust size, butt size, thin, lanky ,chubby, overweight , obese, body builder..etc. And I agree with the slider thing. The should have more races then african and coccasion ( white). MORE CLOTHES, SEPERATE SHOE OPTIONS, DESIGHN YOUR OWN HAIR SYTE JUST MORE OPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BE ABLE TO HAVE CROOKED TEETH , BRACES, ACNE, FRECKELS, MOLES ALL THE STUFF THAT WILL MAKE THEM REAL LOOKING AND UNIQUE!!!!!
6.) Have all expansion packs, and stuff packs already in the game, no more piles of cd's.
7.) They should have barber shops, salons, doctors office, dentist, church or any other religoius temple, buliding so they can pratice and get married with the whole walking down the alsie and decorating and all that jazz. A pregnant yoga place thing, where preggys pratice for labor, dance studios, clubs, department stores besides H&M, schools, highschools and colleges in the neighborhood and much more!

.gRADUAL AGING, PUBERTY , MENOPAUSE, HAIR GROWTH, TEETH COMMING IN, HAVE TO CUT HAIR
BE ABLE TO CHOOSE BABY NAME BEFORE BORN
TO BE ABLE TO SEE IF ITS A BOY OR A GIRL BY GOING TO A DOCTOR.
GOING TO THE DOCTOR TO SEE IF SHE'S PREGNANT INSTEAD OF ASKING THEM TO RELAX AND SEE IF THEY CAN STILL TRY FOR A BABY AND IF THEY CAN'T SHE'S PREGNANT.
INJURIES AND HAVE TO GO TO DOCTOR, CASTS FOR BROCKED LIMBS, ICE PACKS AND STUFF.
TO BE ABLE TO PUT YOUR KID UP FOR ADOPTION.

I totally agree, and this is a pet peeve of mine.
Personally, I don't care much about the graphical improvments of the game - the sims is such a game that anything graphical (clothes, wallpapers etc) can be done by the community. No, my worry is the technical and realistic aspect of the game.
That means custom animations which are still almost impossible to do (I have seen one (1) custom animation, and it was adult-themed which took the creator a whole week to do. For a simple back-and-forth manouver.)
Jobs. I really dislike the model that makes sims entering a career ladder and climbing it in no time. There is a reason there are more janitors in the world than bank CEO's. Likewise, I really hate it's so easy getting rich. Most people do not live a life in luxury - and in TS2 it's way to easy to earn money. There is even a bloody money tree! Have maxis never heard of inflation and over-flow of the monetary market?
That said, I would like the game to be harder. If I manage to scrape together enough simoleons to buy a small stereo, I want to get the satisfaction of a job well done - not just because I harvested the money tree and the three kids came home with gratifications from school and relatives. Simply put: it's too easy.
Finally, I would really like apartments. The way they did it in Uni was great - when a NPC walks into his room he disappears and do whatever he do in there. That could be achieved in apartments too.

The pregnancy thing is really unrealistic.
I think that there shouldn't be a "try for baby". I think you should be able to buy "birth protection" that lessens the chance of getting pregnant but any type of sex carries a chance of pregnancy. So with said object there's a 20% chance or so and without it's more like a 70% chance.
Sorry if that's too much information for this board ^.^. But, they change that in the next game.

The pregnancy thing is really unrealistic.
I agree. I think Sim Ladies should be whisked away to hospital to give birth; I remember they were thinking of doing that for Sims 2, then abandoned the idea. However, I'd love to see that in the Sims 3.
Also, better genetics. Someone mentioned sliders for skintones and hair colors, which is a great idea. Also, more advanced reproductive genetics so each sim child is not merely a clone of one of the parents. I hate having sim brothers and sisters who all look exactly the same.
I'd also like to see things like child support, better weddings, funerals, ability for sims to live in apartments (where you could control one sim at a time).

Things I'd like to see... I'm not going to bother worrying whether these suggestions are practical, or would require a supercomputer to implement. Just fantasize about what I'd like to see in a "perfect" Sim game.
The entire Sim creation system needs to be overhauled, and the entire system of meshing/texturing replaced with something more streamlined. Here's what I'd like:
1) Faces: the facial construction system of TS2 isn't bad, actually, but it would be useful if there was a utility included that made it possible to create a face based on a photograph (or two). This would make self-simming/real-life simming much easier.
2) The body should be fully customizable. Height, various dimensions, type of bone structure, etc, should all be under the creator's control, making for individual Sims of greater realism. Body Shop should work similarly to the way creating a face works. This would, of course, require a new approach to animations.
3) In addition, the concept of clothing meshes is faulty. Clothing should map onto the body shape and actually conform to the character's size. As it stands now, one could use a "custom bodyshape" and have it make no difference to the Sim's appearence, because the meshes for the clothes defines the body shape. There are good, practical reasons why this is the case, but as I said, I'm not concerned with being realistic here.
4) Textures should be mappable onto all objects and clothes. Rather than having twelve separate shirts of the same cut in different colors, there should be one "shirt" that can be colored by using a different texture, much as bedding, curtains, and furniture can be retextured (using the CEP). This would enable custom content creators to concentrate on either the cut of the clothes themselves, or on textures to be applied to them. Same with furniture and other recolorable objects. This would do wonders to reduce the size of the downloads folder and reduce loading times; the trade-off, of course, would probably be more processing cycles.
5) Clothing, jewellery, shoes, accessories should all be separate and individually texture-able (*is* there such a word?) as with clothes and furniture.
6) The Sim should not be restricted to 25 personality points, personalities should be more complex, and such things as aspirations, interests, lifetime wants, etc, should all be under the user's control. And while we're at it, starting funds should be under the user's control, too. 20,000 simoleons just doesn't go as far as it used to.
7) They really need to do something about the wall-drop function. As it stands now, one never sees interior walls in normal gameplay unless one moves the POV to a close-up and chooses "all walls up." TS1 had a better system, although that one could use some improvement.
8) The lighting sucks. Even using gunmod's radiance mod, rooms and houses are too gloomy. I have walls painted bright orange and bright yellow, and they appear to be a dull, muddy greenish color in play, despite having several windows in the rooms. Hardly any wallpaper looks as it should. Appliances, furniture, and just about everything are dull and distorted in color.
9) I would also like to see more complex interactions, and some kind of ability to combine functions (e.g., eat while watching television). Relationships are so easy as to be incredible in the game, and once one maxes out a relationship score, there's really very little reason to do more than minimal "maintenance" interactions with other Sims. Perhaps there should be a scale above "100" that more realistically reflects the relationship between two Sims. Similarly, the system of a 1-10 scale for skills is inadequate. It takes very little time, really, to max out a given skill, and having done that, there's nothing more to do. I also find it a bit incredible that all Sims are potential geniuses: do your homework, go to school, and an A+ will follow inevitably, and any kid can be a Mad Scientist or Mayor of Sim City. Not very realistic, but I do realize that the creators of the game (and many players) aren't too concerned with realism.
10) The architecture system needs to be reworked. The "levels" system is okay, but it does make some kinds of construction problematic or impossible, especially a true split-level house, which is a very common kind of construction. Curved walls, more flexibility with driveways/garages, and all the cool little tricks that the construction geniouses have worked out should be do-able right out of the box.
11) The neighborhood should be customizable in-game, with the possibility of creating additional streets, changing elevations, and putting plots just about anywhere. Further, the changes made in a plot should be reflected in the neighborhood screen, instead of, e.g., having houses built on hillsides appear to be hanging in space.
12) I have no problem with subsidiary neighborhoods, although they do create more potential for crashes, but the convention of "no saves on community plots" needs to be done away with. Maxis must realize that crashes will happen, and that one way to minimize the damage done by a crash is to Save Early, Save Often. How many times have my Sims spent hours downtown, only to have all their interactions with other Sims wiped out by a crash? We shouldn't need to resort to hacks to fix this problem.
13) Last, but not least, I really, really want the opportunity to punch Crumplebottom in the nose.

The feature I want above all else is more complex genetics, such as incorporating mixed hair colors, different hair structure (wavy, curly, straight, etc.), and different heights. As someone mentioned above, different body shapes and builds should also become changeable.
Solid objects should remain solid--just more realistic physics in general. Sure, it's funny to see Sims going through walls but it's not realistic. No more doing backflips on couches because couches aren't that bouncy (Tom Cruise...).
If it's possible, Sims shouldn't be so constrained by having to live by grids. They should be able to eat on tables with a chair at an angle to the table, just like in real life, as well as use objects placed anywhere at all. Laptops on laps would be nice as well XD.
I would love to see many more interactions between older Sims and babies/toddlers, especially the ability to hold a child while sitting on a couch and play with or feed them that way. On the topic of babies, I wish Sim births were a little more true-to-life; for example, Sim mothers should be able to go into labor at any point in a span of time (say, 5 Sim hours) to make things more unpredictable, and should have an option for a home or hospital birth. One thing maybe just I would like to see, but...a cute automatic picture of the parent(s) holding their babies and smiling at the camera would be wonderful.
More complex personality traits, interests, etc. would be nice. Interests should actually be more accurately reflected in their career choices, wants, fears, etc. Some more intangible factors should be included (right now the Sims' behavior is too predictable--it needs a spark), and more than just relatives should be able to change Sim-kids' personalities (TV shows, newspapers, magazines, peers, etc. should as well). Different combinations of personality traits should result in quirks unique to Sims with those specific combinations, like Nice + Shy = low self-esteem/people pleasers or Outgoing + Nice + Serious = driven to succeed and become leaders, regardless of aspiration. IQ would be cool as well, but that could be a bit controversial...
Oh well, if it doesn't come w/Sims 3, it'll come in one of the inevitable 1 gazillion EPs. *sigh*

A little less than a year ago there was a thread here where I and listed these things, but it seems to be gone. No way I'm gonna type all that again, but few highlights:
- Better AI! This includes pathfinding. AI can always use improving in SP games no matter what. Maybe I could ease up my control freak approach if they weren't so stupid.
- Dynamic actions. Being able to do 2 things at once or cancel an action without having to wait for the animation to finish, being able to interact even if not standing on a pool table smooth terrain and so on.
- Sliders for everything. Hair, clothes, skin, furniture colors. There can always be presets for ppl who want to done them quickly.
- Something truly revolutionary like whole neighborhood as playable area (though you could only build on your lot when playing a sim.) It won't be worthy of being called The Sims 3 if all the changes are merely evolutionary.
- Change 1 axis system of fat-fit to 2 axis system of skinny-massive/hard-flabby.
- Layered clothing.

You can do that now, just go to the options, put neighbors "on" and set the view to the largest one.
It can really slow down the game though, I only put the view to the largest one to see what my neighborhood looked like from my sims perspective.

There's so much I want.
I want Strangetown. If they make a game and continue with the Pleasantview characters and Strangetown is gone I'll go MAD!
If they will continue it the way they did from TS1 they would need to do it with all of the 4 neighborhoods. Not only the Goths.
More things:
- you can choose whether you will live in big cities, at the countryside or small towns. People in different places can visit and interact with each other.
- I want a big city as a capital of Simland (bigger than the GTA cities) where you can drive around, go shopping, dine, meet people, join gangs, kill, form businesses, live, die or whatever).
- give you the ability to run a school, orphange, prison etc without a hack. It can come as an expansion.
- give you the ability to form a band, gang, organization, religious group, society or whatever.
- More options on raising kids. You can choose if the parents are over protective, strict, open minded or extremely open minded when it comes to raising them and giving them freedom.
- Teens are able to woohoo and maybe get pregnant.
- risky woohoo with 3-5% chance of getting pregnant without a hack.
- sims can commit suicide.
- more genetic varieties. For example my own skintone is a mix of the lightest and the medium light. I want hair colours such as very light blonde (platina), blonde, dark blonde, light brown, brown, dark brown, brownish black, jet black, reddish brown, strawberry blonde, red and every possible natural hair colour. I want eye colours like grey, grey-blue, light blue, dark blue, greenish blue, light green, dark green, greeenish brown, light brown, brown and dark brown.
- more clothes. I want as many clothes as a shopping centre.
- more life stages. Let's say: baby, toddler, child, young teen (12-15), older teen (15-18), young adult (not only at university), adult, middle aged, elder.
- more food. Let's say that the sims can buy different cook books and learn to make it all. Let's say one Indian book, one Chinese, one Italian etc.
- different heights on sims.
- the sims can be able to vote and participate in politics. They can form their own parties.
- no jealousy for romance sims (without a hack).
(I will see later if I have more ideas)

Ok, I'm sure that alot of the things i say have been said, but I'm just voiceing my opinion here. This is what I would want in sims 3:
- choose shoes and jewelry seperatly
- be able to wear more than one accesory at a time
- sim teens can do woohoo and be pregnant, after all it's supossed to be realistic
- babies and toddlers can go to community lots, like in a stroller or something
- when you go to a community lot or to your business, time does not stop at your house
- be able to go to other neighbors houses
- time is more realistic, you know like so eating dinner doesnt take four game hours

Smarter AI and scheduling, you don’t wash the dishes in a bathroom then you can wait 10 seconds and use the dishwasher. You don’t go into rage and forget everything because someone is walking in the stairs you wait, but you might be angry if somebody is making out forever and blocking the exit from the toilet.
An AI who sorts that is important: you don’t interrupt going to work or having a date to make beds on another floor.
An AI who can handle a list of tasks, rescheduling them and even add their own actions in the middle; example I ask a sim to get up, eat, go to the toilet and then tend crops. She stands up, make beds because she is tidy, and then go to the toilet first because that need is greater than hunger. She eats and kisses her husband on the way out because they meet and it’s a short action. If she was in great need of a bathroom she would not make beds and she would not return to do it because it would take to long time. She would not kiss her husband if they didn’t meet in the doorway.
Yes the ability to visit neighbors, even have a job like maid or handyman. Perfect for romantic or social sims. Or even thief; you want a stereo; one option is to steal it, but if the police take you got a fine or jail, jail would be a opportunity to meet new sims.

That would have been cool. A calendar. But then...... How should it work?
We cannot play many families at once.
And.....
I don't want TS3. I'm too fond of the sims 2 and I hate that maxis come out with EPs right before the new game.
Will all the TS2 sites be removed???
Will TS2 be abandoned (like TS1) and forgotten???
Why make a new game? Why couldn't maxis give us all the options in EPs instead of making a totally new game???
They could for example give us an EP which made it possible for sims from different neighborhoods to intermarry and visit each other.

I guess making a new game is like starting from scratch, allowing maxis to do certain things they can't do in expansion packs, such as better graphics, AI, and lighting (which, now that I give thought to it, could fall under graphics... :err: ). They're likely to do things such as refine the building, grid, personality/aspiration, and genetics system...
At least that's what I think...
I'll really be happy if they just keep the supernatural element...

One great idea what just as well might be done in an expansion pack is termed neighborhoods.
Imagine a medieval/ fantasy, old west/ Victorian, star wars or Harry Potter neighborhood, with relevant downtown and business districts, carriers and items.
Sound like a somewhat better idea than stuff packs, and much easier to make than a full expansions.

Not to single you out, but this isn't going to happen guys. Maxis is probably aiming for a "T" rating, and having teens doing it isn't going to get them that.
Sorry for that, anyways, I think that choosing a region to play (like in Sim City) would be better then the current neighborhood thing.

I would like a playschool for toddlers; or even inviting a friend with a toddler around and have the option to bring the tyke as well. Or teens having a "babysitting" job. And interactions for toddlers with each other, as well as the current "steal a bottle" and both playing with the doll house at the same time.

I totally agree with you! But I think there shouldn't be a Sims3 since it would lay my Sims2 to dust just like my Sims1 right now (some even got lost). So you're also having the trouble with paysites. I also hope there won't be paysites since it's useless to pay for downloads. :scowboy:

one pet peeve of mine is that no matter the family size you start with, they only get $20,000. If your starting with a family of 6, thats rough. even of 4 its difficult. i think for those who don't want to cheat, there should be like a $5,000 increase with each extra person after say, 2.

Gah!! Does anyone else feel that Maxis actually has long term plans regarding "The Sims" and what they will "allow" for each version? I mean, "we will do this much in TS1, and then only this much in TS2, so by the time TS3 comes out, they'll want 'this' aspect so bad everyone will buy it!"
I mean the lack of "official" creative support for TS2 is insulting! There are so many things, or so many tools they could have created to help people making new sims stuff. I just sometimes feel that even though it is the creations of The Sims community that has made the game stay so popular,...it's like Maxis is somehow working directly against us??? I know that sounds horrid, but in many ways I feel it is really true.......
SO.....if there is to be a TS3 (which there will), this is what I would like to see!
1. REAL creative support! There is NO EXCUSE for the crap that has come out, like the overly dark lighting in the TS2 Bodyshop program, or the inability to actually zoom in it. They already have some of the programs they need, just make a nice version for us to use too! Same for object workshops and importing programs. These should come with the original game and not have to be made by players! Can you imagine what those creators of SimPE coulda done if Maxis had already made a "SimPE" to begin with, and those guys were just improving/expanding it? All the amazing SIm programs they would have had time to create instead of having to invent SimPE????
2. Leave the graphics alone, focus on the game! I hope in TS3 there is a little cleaning up, but lets face it, in TS2 you can zoom in and out as far as you'll ever need. The graphics are very nice as they are. So let's focus on the mechanics, versitillity of the game, and overall gameplay!
3. Clean up the "stupids" problem. I want them to actually pay attention and get rid of the stupid stuff that sims do. Like not keeping to a chain of tasks, or having to water things one by one. All those annoying little things that make actual play a headache.
4. Seperate shoes, jewelery, hats, eyeglasses, and such. Not everything should be connected to "one outfit".
5. Growth! Hair growth! The option to have men growing beards, needing to shave, or for hairstyles to grow out and need fixed.
6. Accidents! Not just a cold or a burn, but a scrape, bump, cut or broken leg!
*7*. Make children sims, not pets! It seems like the baby to child aspect of the sim is very limited. There needs to be more playability for those, more interactions, more tasks, more versatility. There should of been an EP for kids like there was for pets.
8. NO more money sucking "Extras packs" that try to squeeze money out of the "creative community" concept. If an extra pack is gonna be made by Maxis, it should be huge, impressive, and cheap!
9. Now that cars have been made and have drive ability,....don't even think of taking it away!
10. A way to seperate "game" downloads. Not skin/objects,.......but things like screens, or community transport, or townsfolk. One neighborhood should not have to have a yellow cab as transport just because another does. I should be able to have a cab, or trolley, or car, or bus or whatever, depending on the neighborhood! Same goes for people, backgrounds, and such.
11. REAL fat sims. Man, I HATE what they consider a fat sim! There should be skinny, thin, normal, heavy, and FAT!

well i agree with everyone else, i'd like:
- more building options, curved walls, curved and spiral stairs and loft ladders, the ability to have an attic with proper attic windows where you could postition your telescope to stargaze. the ability to have little add-ons like a garden shed or a conservatory.
- more clothing/hair/body options, i love the idea of a slider to determine hair & eye colour and body size. more realistic heights would be cool too. and i agree with everyone else, mix n match clothing would be great. and more accessories, necklaces & stuff that were separate from glasses. and the ability to get piercings and tattoos.
- i'd love it if pregnant sims could leave the house, just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you should be under house arrest! and yes, the ability to take your baby out shopping.
- i'd also like better turn-ons/offs - who gets turned on by beards?! well, i guess some people do, but, i'd like it if one of the options was to select a gender-preference, so you can effectively choose the sims' sexual orientation. i hate it when you have a sim in a gay relationship then they start swooning over someone of the opposite sex, that just doesn't happen in real life.
- if someone has their kid (s) taken away by social services they should still be able to retain some sort of familial relationship with the child. Step-Parents can't become involved with their spouse's kids, but they can become involved with their own flesh and blood if they had them removed by the social worker, that's just sick and oh so wrong!
- the ability to be engaged to more than one sim, like in the first sims game. Maybe even bigamy, and if you get caught you get fined, or something. The ability for teens to get pregnant, i know its not moral, but it happens every day.
- more career options, and more degree options (assuming there'll be a college of some kind)
- the ability to create a single parent family in create a sim mode, rather than having to create a couple and have one move out. The ability to create a household of several people who do not all share the same surname, like you can for University. The ability to maybe have your sims Baptised and have godparents, who can maybe look after the kids if the parents die.
- full-on wedding options, a better selection of wedding gowns and morning suits, wedding chapels, flowers, choirs, bridesmaids, a best man, ushers, a priest or officiate, being able to hire a band or DJ to play the reception, a honeymoon, wedding gifts.
- Longer years and seasons which are in sync with those years. Adulthood that lasts a bit longer, and a proper age for each sim.
- more fun stuff, like trampolines, paddling pools, fireworks, climbing frames, embroidery, knitting. Not everyone likes reading or watching the TV!
- more decorative options - a better choice of curtains and bedlinen wouldn't go amiss. the ability to buy spare bedlinen and change it whenver you wanted rather than having to pay $15 in buy mode to change the bedlinen that way.
- less loading time, i;m so sick of staring at that blue screen
phew! that's all!

Now THAT, would be cool. But seems somewhat impossible to me. Maybe it will be completely different to The Sims 2... I'm just getting used to the game now anyway, let alone thinking of the evolution of it!

So many good ideas!
Much word to the poster who said they'd like to be able to homeschool their sims. I used to be able to do that with Sims1 and I miss it.
I'd like to see my pregnant sims give birth in a hospital too. Most of them go into labor on the bathroom floor (easier cleanup maybe?) and it's so...undignified. Maybe just a quick cut scene replacing the Plumbob Osmosis one, they could show the distressed Mommy being hustled into a car/taxi and then a little huffing and straining in a hospital bed, and then the doctor turns around with the baby in his hands. Parents are delighted, cut back to the house and the parents are standing out by the mailbox with the new baby.
Also, to elaborate on the idea of following your sims to work...could they insert little minigames for each profession? For example, people in the culinary profession could have "Cooking Mama" or "Diner Dash" type challenges, people in the music profession could have little rhythm games, etc. I'd MUCH rather have those then those awful chance cards.

Oh yeah,.... I already talked to Delphy about what would happen after The sims 3 comes out, and what would happen with MTS2. He replied: "Currently I have absolutely no plans to make an MTS3. MTS2 will survive for a while after the Sims 3 is out I guess, but then it'll most likely shut down. *shrugs*" - Delphy
Hmmm... The Sims 3 comes out in April 2009 *sigh* It seems we just got The Sims 2. I have seen pics of The Sims 3, (looks awsome) but if I told you I had to kill you... seriously. Tis is all .......... now

Sims3 would have to fight with sims2 with all expansion packs and mods.
It will depend on how it looks and plays, it would look much better; hopefully the AI is much better, it would have much better building tools, probably less focused on grids, we can hope it would be easy to mod.
My main question is how much of sim2 expansion packs features are included? Without nightlife, OFB and seasons and all the mods the game would be very dull for me no matter how improved the graphic is.

I just love remembering the jump from TS1 to TS2, and hoping that the jump from TS2 to TS3 will be just as big, if not bigger! :D
I really do hope that The Sims 3 isn't a childs game, I have to say it sorry, because that's mainly the reason why so many features were held back in The Sims 2 (like teenage pregnancy, violence, sexual interactions... because lets face it, 'woohoo' was far too childish for my liking...) I hope that The Sims 3 is more adult, maybe M 15+ or something along those lines. It would open up so many doors. Like being able to get pregnant as a teenager, or murder somebody, or have accidents and get into real fisticups and bleed! Yeah! lol (I sound like an angry boy! :P)
I would love to be able to have houses next to each other and be able to interact with homes and objects on whole streets, and not just on your lot. So instead of having a loading screen everytime you want to see a friend or go to a resturaunt or shopping mall, you could just stroll over, drive your car or ride a bike to the place!
I also hope they incorporate things like University, weather, pets and such into the first ever expansion, instead of making us wait and pay for such mundane things. And then make each expansion at a completely different aspect to the game; like space travel maybe! I don't know, I haven't really thought it through yet! I'm just excited at the prospect of a Sims 3!
On the negative side, I hope they don't completely change it so that it no longer has anything to do with more intelligent AI and generational families... that would be a nightmare.

-- I don't want The Sims 3 to be too realistic. I like having aliens, vampires, servos (even though I wish they could look more human), and so on.
-- I like that the sims twirl to transition from one age to the next but I wish there were more ages like preteen, young adult (without having to go to college), and middle age.
-- More skin tones, hair colors, eye colors, and body builds (possibly with a slider.) And different heights, my sisters and I are all teens but I am older then they are and shorter.
-- Clothing comes in layers: a shirt or a blouse under a vest that is under a jacket.
-- Less EPs! Two or three EPs are fine but 6 or 7 is ridiculous. Meaning, there should be more packed into the base game to begin with!
-- More aspirations! Where is the creative aspiration? Also, maybe let a sim have two aspirations, a major one and a secondary one. For example, Jane Sim's main aspiration is Family so she wants to get married and have kids, but her secondary aspiration is Popularity so she also wants to maintain her social life.
-- Cooking should be based on ingredients (like a salad would need lettuce, tomatoes, etc.) Sims should have food preferences such as Jane Sim is a vegetarian and will not eat anything that has meat in it. John Sim doesn't like vegetables so he won't eat anything dish that has them in it often if at all, but he loves spices so he will eat foods that have spicy ingredients in them.
-- Sims should be attracted to more then just physical things like hair color they should also be able to be attracted to different personalities and aspiration types. John Sim likes brainy serious women who have raven colored hair.
-- It should be easier to break up and not have one sim get caught cheating on the other sim. Some people simply grow apart and stay friends with each other afterward; that should happen in the game too without having to cheat.
That's all I have so far. I am bored with Sims 2 and it's never-ending EPs and can't wait for Sims 3. :)

Ability to set the time for each stage of life yourself.
More variety in height and body shape
The ability to set people as somewhat distant relations in CAS. (If I want two cousins to be roommates, I don't want to have to create a bazillion more people just to make that relation exist)
Better maxis textures, so that default skin/eyes won't be necessary.
Seasons and some nightlife (turn-ons & dating) options in the base game.
A much smarter nanny, and less intrusive guests. (My self-sim's husband brought an acquaintance home from work, and the first thing she did was give our newborn baby a bath in the kitchen sink, wtf?)
Teen pregnancy, and teen/young adult relationships
Nuances in jealousy. (Ex: Catching your lover woohooing with another sim will make them more angry than if they were just charming them)
A middle-age life stage. I don't like when sims go from look 25 to looking 80 in one quick spin&sparkle.
Hmmm... I think that's the major things.

There was one feature I would have liked to see in sims 2.. Be able to control day light savings so like you could have the sun come out later and then the sun leave out later. Getting sick of the standard 7am sunrise and the 7pm sundown. Now that would be awesome to be able to control the daylight times when the sun comes up and sun goes down I'd like to see that in Sims 3 though

I'd love more build options...1, 2 and 3 click height foundations mainly..with modular stairs for those heights too, plus corners for modular stairs.
Better diagonal and round roofs. Circular walls and windows/doors.
I'd also like the base game to come with most, if not all of the build cheats..I get really impatient waiting for EP's to be released just so I can have extra build cheats.
Less EPs! Two or three EPs are fine but 6 or 7 is ridiculous. Meaning, there should be more packed into the base game to begin with!
Definately!!!!
Bodyshop wise, I'd love more realistic textures for the hair styles. I'd like all the crap to be cut back, like the silly heads and silly costumes.
I'd love differing heights, short sims, tall sims etc.. Same with different bodysizes, the Maxis fat size is really unrealistic so would love a wider choice of body sizes (more than two!) and would like stuff like different breast sizes etc..
Totally agree with the more realistic base textures for skins and eyes...Oh and more realistic "old" skins.
Would like weather to be a standard with the basegame...not an EP.
Would love the neighbourhood view in lot mode to look better, clearer textures and a more realistic terrain, oh and that crappy neighbourhood sea to actually look like water!

i really want to see more interactions between just friends. there are so many interactions for lovers and such but there are hardly any between sims that are best friends but not in a love sort of way...
I read this thread again and I need to say I totally agree with you. Not too long ago I seriously started to get annoyed how I always need to repeat those same old interactions and how every "best friend" relationship is the same. By this I mean that when they are in love, they have several ways to (for example) hug but when they are friends, they can only hug in one way. It would be so cool that they could show their personalities and what kind of friends they are by their doings.
Also... I find it's totally idiotic that now they always fall in love of the smallest actions. When I first time used "play with food" option with two guys... well... it was a total surprise that after that they were madly in love. Ridiculous.

1. Don't take us back to a bare basic game the way the transition between Sims 1 and 2 did. We went from having vacation spots, dating spots, pet shows, hollywood, and magic to having a neighborhood full of sims with no pets. I realize that putting it all in at the beginning kind of limits ideas for Expansion packs and stuff packs, but it would be nice not to feel like everything I liked was gone until they decide to give it back.
2. Give us a way to convert our sims and lots to use in Sims 3.
Along with everythig else that has been said.

Mmkay... I agree with all those who wanted
*Body sliders (don't think I'll buy the new game if not)
*More life stages
*Pets and cars, weather and seasons being in the core game
*Layerable clothing and separate shoes
*Unique facial expressions
Don't know about you lot, but I'd like to see Sims lives be a bit more dangerous on an everyday level. Before I got the game I asked a friend who played if it was possible to take precautions to keep a Sim from dying accidentally :) I thought it would be hard. So if you have a pool in the garden, Sim parents would have to make sure little children didn't fall in and such. And also to make sure they didn't catch their death playing underclothed in the garden. Loose the social worker! I*m not keen on killing Sims, I just want toe challenge of actually keeping our beloved little pixel uns alive more exiting.
I also love the idea of puberty happening. Like one morning right before entering teen stage the little girls would wake up with two bumps on their chest and react accordingly. The really confident and outgoing ones would strut around SO proud, while the shy ones would keep their arms crossed for the rest of the day! No it's not pervy, it happens every day in life!

Gaahhhh, there's going to be a 3?? Sometimes I pondered on the idea, but I figured it was in my own head. Neeeeat.
I can't think of a ton of suggestions right on the spot, but one thing I've wanted from the beginning was Teen Woohoo and Pregnancy. I'm too chicken to download the Inteenimater. It seems way too risky and glitch-inducing. There should also be a chance that a sim can get pregnant just by doing Woohoo and not Try For Baby. You know, include us accident-babies in the game too ;)

I really want there to be an effect on the Sim depending on which career they choose.
For example, if they work as a maid, they may come to another sim's house and clean instead of having a random NPC show up. Or if they're the mayor, other sims will react to them differently. If they're the police, burglars will go away/the Sim can beat them up. Things like that.

Yes that would have been a great idea, I wanted it then the original game came out, much more fun get a know sim as maid, gardener or post man. Also to be able to take job as some of the service jobs, like does some nanny work before getting your first baby. Also a good career chooses for a romance sim; nice looking gardener, wife home with toddlers and husband off at work.

I agree with alot that has been said here. I'm going to try to go in-depth with the teen/university aspect.
I just sent a duo to college and it made me think, why don't they have to pay for it? All they need is a C average and they're in! ALOT easier than it was for me and the rest of the world - they don't even have to apply!
That being said, I think teen sims should have to apply to the college(s) they want to attend, and recieve a response in like 2 sim days. The colleges should require specific things to be able to attend. i.e. a more prestigious school would want an A average, and certain skills (1 cleaning, 4 logic, 3 creativity or something), while a normal public university would be more lax.
Going from that, you can tell I think there should be more colleges in general, and they should be distinctively different - like specializing in certain subjects, price differences, and size. Benefits of going to a certain school would show in certain areas (i.e. going to the specialized college for art/drama would get you a higher job in that catagory than going to the standard university)
Personality should also play a factor in which University a teen sim would want to go to. Shyer sims would probably want to stay clear from large party-schools, while ambitious sims would hate to go to a basic college with no specialties.
If sims don't have the money, they can go to the cheaper community college, and be able switch when they're ready.
To be honest, I would be happy it if this was somehow inputed in TS2 though. It would give us a reason to play the teen stage, instead of shipping them off to college the minute they're age transition is finished! :fly

What do I most want to see in The Sims 3?????
Something I missed so much from the Sims1, (After the Hot Date EP came out, wasnt in Sims 1 until then).
A little thing I like to call 'Post Coital Mysoginy'.
Dont know what I am on about?
Ever have Frankie Mushuga do the wild thing with his harpy missus in that love bed of theirs?
Remember what always seemed to happen afterwards?
Frankie would always either assualt or degrade the poor woman.
A WhooHoo would take place, then Frankie would bounce out of bed, walk up to the ball and chain, slap her around a bit, then tease her and laugh. She would cry, and if he was feeling perticularly socially deprived, he would do something else unsavoury, even before her tears had dried.
I thought it was quite sick, and that someone at Maxis was a twisted freak, but hey, over time I came to realise with the right personality aadjustments, many male Sims could be created that would be total mysoginistic bastards.
I had half a dozen wife abusers in my #2 hood other than frankie.
Maybe thats sick, but hey, I never put it in a G rated PC game, since it is a G rated game, and the worlds biggest selling video game at that, it must be socially acceptable right? So dont blame me for this.
Anyway, I would love to see that in Sims3, looked for a hack for it for Sims2, but couldnt find one.
If they dont bring it out in Sims3, I'll have to start punching my wife again :P

What Features would i want in The Sims 3...
- Actually Following the Sim to a neighborhood lot instead of looking at loading screens
- Can Visit Neighbors or Friends
- More Choices in Skin and Eye colours
- More Realistic Body counterparts
- More Cars
- The Satillite you can get if you had The Sims 1 Superstar
- Actual bills instead of bills that reflect objects in the household
- Longer and More life stages instead of for example, This Adult suddenly turns into an elder, that just looks wrong.
- Better Lighting feautres
- Ceilings
- If includes Season features, have Air Conditioning Systems and Heating Systems installed in house with selection of vents to heat or cool the house.
- More Channels for my Sims to watch
- More games for my Sims to play
- More foods to cook
- Choice of alleyways for rear garages
- More property sizes
- Better Foundation System
- Adjustments for Roof Pitch
- More Windows
- Curving Walls and stairs
- More Aspirations
- More sizes of desk (Like L or U shaped Desks)
- Make the Sims actually work for their money instead of making them just go get in a car and drive off for a few hours and return without anything. Make then come back with assignments or something
- Make the Sims work finding system better, make companies, make your sims run companies, have companies which has different standards. Job Interview (Get your sim prepared for it) and they will get a call within 1-2 Days to say if their hired or not.
And many more things i would want but i'm too tired to type it all.

And I would like pretty much everything everybody else want.

I would like to be able to 'import' my Sims2 sims into Sims3 so I didn't have to choose between them! Although having a 'fresh start' on Sims2 is always good, so I don't think I'd miss my Sims a lot. But still, being able to move your Sims into Sims3 would be much welcomed I think, and maybe move the expansion packs over as well in some way? xD Probably impossible, but when expansion packs are as much as £20+ when they come out you don't want it to be out of date within a year, and expected to buy it all again.
I also want it possible for your Sims to get into debt. For them to be able to take out loans, and become bankrupt as well which could lead to their house being repossessed, and them being left in the family bin with only $15,000 or less to start again, and unable to take a loan for a few sim days.
One thing as well would be to be able to ask social services to take your child away, and being able to choose the child you want your family to adopt. There has been so many occassions in which I wanted a family to adopt a certain 'type' of child. I like the adopted children to look a little like their adopted parents!

I think it would be really cool if your sims could live in departments. I know you can make it look like it in Sims 2, but it's not the feeling I'm looking for. I want other sims to be able to move in into the other departments, and that it would look more like downtown, not a single building on a big lot.
I also want perambulators for toddlers and babies, and that they could go shopping with them.
Simply more "real life"-stuffs. Helping the children with the seatbelts before get into the car, etc.
Higher graphics and more building/CAS oppertunities is something I "take for granted" when it comes to Maxis. They develop the technic each and every day, and every game is more fantastic than the other :)

3. Voices more unique to each sim
5. Unified time
In My Sims a person can pick the voice and its pitch for their sim. So hopefully, they'll add that to Sims 3 as well.
Also the option for unified time would be great. I usually play one family for a long time and end up cheating to age the rest of the neighborhood.

A relation between Aunte/Uncle & Niece/Nephew. Like, when a granchilds born its "met new grandchild whatshisface!" So they should have "Met new niece/nephew whatshisface!" too. no?
Edit: oh oh and also, i want pregnant sims to have cravings. They could keep having thought bubbles of a certain food and if you pick up on it and get them to make it..you get...er...aspiration points or something..

If the sims could be as animated as this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkxO2hrQFWA&mode=related&search=
Now THAT, would be cool. But seems somewhat impossible to me. Maybe it will be completely different to The Sims 2... I'm just getting used to the game now anyway, let alone thinking of the evolution of it!
Why isn't the game like that? Did they change it or something?
What I'd like to see:
- shoes seperate from clothing
- jewelry not built into clothing either
- more realistic, or atleast wider range of turn ons/offs. such as career or skill related
- Zodiac signs independant of personality.
- No more going ballistic when crushes romantically interact with other sim
- Antique furniture
- layerable clothing
- less raver & hooker clothes and more normal folk clothes
- just say no to vacumn sealed clothing, ie meshes that look like how clothes actually do when being worn and not the painted on the body look unless its called for
- and please give the grans their bras back
- Tattoos as full body makeup or on skintone instead built onto the clothing so they don't disappear when they change
- a Body shop more like SimPose for Sims 1 in terms of changing background, zooming, and poses
- ability to make terrains for custom hoods in game or a program like body shop that comes with instead of having to buy a seperate game to do so.
- Gardeners/sims with the mental ability to know they can get over the low fences to care for plants.
-smarter baby care....no more baby shuffle or flocking to the babies
thats about all I got now....

I know this would probably up the rating on the game but I think your sims, should be able to be homosexual.
Also a height and weight adjustor, noone looks the exact same.
Ability to do more with pets and babies
The ability to have more than 2 in a bed.

Sims can be homosexual, as far as I know!
I agree, though- I want to see sliders for weight, as well as height, and for different aspects of the body as well as the face. I'd also like to see more lifestages, like middle-aged, so the transitions aren't as drastic.

Elders that are not hunched over, my grandma was 86 years old and she wasn't like that. Also my great aunt was pushing 100 and she didn't slouch or sag (if you know what I mean).
Well sims can be homosexual but you basically have to force it, I meant like more natural.

Better clothes for grans! And also, I hate it when, if a family changes their surname from 'Goth' to 'Smith' for example, lets say through marriage, the 'family name' on the neigbourhood screen will still be Goth! Lets changed that please! And some more special occasions, like anniversarys.

- Some sort of slider for hair length and colour.
- The ability to layer highlights onto hair.
- Eyes to have some kind of expression.
- Facial animations to be more realistic.
- Sliders for body shape and height editing.
- Layering of clothing.
- For clothes to get smelly after a few days, so your sim isnt wearing the same thing for about 25 days.
- For body shapes to graually change throughout a sims life.
- Hair to grow throughout the game.
- Sims to have more personal interaction.
- It bugs me how kids and teenagers go to school every day and have no friends =|
That's all from me, my moniter is crapping up.

Not sure if someone's mentioned this but I would like all the obvious additions (better graphics, AI, more diversity with CAS etc.) but also a change the the Buy/Build Mode Grid. At the moment the squares of the grid are pretty big, I would like to see 4 squares in each of those squares for The Sims 3. This would then be like the cheat 'boolprop snapobjectstogrid false' in The Sims 2 except easier as you don't have to line things up yourself.

I know a lot of simmers dislike the idea of MySims, but it really should be exciting for us: Maxis is working on a modular system for furniture with different color options. You won't really need custom content if you're building your own furniture, right in-game. My only wish for the Sims 3 is that they implement that furniture system, have color sliders all around, and have a smaller building grid.

I had a thought before...what about special wants? These wants are crucial to each life stage. They appear at the appropriate age (so this could work with gradual aging, when a certain amount of days old) and never disappear (except perhaps once another age is reached?). Anyway here's some examples:
Be Potty Trained - This would appear when your Sim is 2 days old (assuming that Sim days + one of our years). If a Sim doesn't complete this they will have a far higher chance of wetting the bed (and suffering embarrassment, bad memories and fulfilling fears...possibly rumors) as a Sim child. They also have a higher chance of making a toilet dirty (or pee on the floor) when they use it (to pee).
Learn To Crawl - This would appear when your Sims is 1 day old. If a Sim doesn't complete this by the time the want Learn To Walk appears they will find it much harder to complete the Learn To Walk want (twice as long?). There could be interactions that require baby Sims to be able to crawl. In regards to Learn To Walk, if this isn't fulfilled a Sim may have a special walk animation, they won't be able to run, they may even have trouble using some objects/doing activities. If there is the possibility of injury in The Sims 3 they could be more likely to get one.
Have First Kiss/Girlfriend - This would appear when your Sim is 14 days old. If this isn't fulfilled a Sim will find it harder to develop loving relationships as they will be less skilled (confident) at flirting, kissing, snuggling etc. A rumor may also go around if this isn't complete by a certain age (17 days old?). It would be amusing if the Sim had special animations where they appeared nervous, if they blushed etc. around other Sims (heck this could even be a Turn On lol).
Anyway, I thought this would be cool as there would always be something to do and it would allow the development of very different Sims...Sims in poverty may find it harder to fulfill some of these, or maybe Sim with certain personalities.
What do you guys think?

For there to be less time at age levels like elder and teenager especially, it takes too long for them to finally die! Do they expect us to sit playing on families for 50-60 sim days! (each day is about 20mins playin time, and Im the kind of simmer who doesn't like to be spending ages without much happenin). I regularly speed up the time between ages, it annoys me how long teens spend as teens.

I was just searching through my old documents and I came across something called Sims 3. I opened it and it was something I made a year and a half ago. It's what I thought the Sims 3 could look like ... but it's very silly just to let you know. :P
The Sims 3
Create a Family
Loading The Sims 3
A usual 2.5 minute loading time, you will be equipped with a small Bodyshop-like mini game that you can use to create an original Sims character to all of the veterans out there. In that small activity, you will first be able to give that Sim a name, gender, skin type, and age. After will come the option to give them a small selection of clothes, make-up, glasses, and their fitness. You must be quick though, even though you won’t be able to save that short being, if the loading time is done, your Sim will be through and be deleted.
5 Default Neighborhoods are included with the base game, including Sims 2 favorites : Pleasantview and Strangetown, and new Sims 3 areas : Charters Valley, Nottingdale, and Tutorial Island. For every Neighborhood, there is always a story for everyone living there.
Creating a new Neighborhood is now incredibly easy to do with three clicks of a mouse. After you are in the menu for creating the Neighborhood, Choose the Name, Landscape (Grass, Rural, Sand, Dirt, Pavement, Mud, and Lunar), and then press the Create button.
The same loading time will apply to the beginning when you get to make your own miniature Sim again. After, you are now able to make your own Sim (from Sims 3).
Create a Sim
Now presented with the new technology we have got now, your Sims will have more of a complex face, body, and actions. When you zoom in, to their face, for example, it will not just be a jaw and a transparent head, but now with a solid skin, eyeballs, ears, nose, etc. Make your Sim the new flabby, scrawny geek or the ripped muscle man on the block, several different body types are now available.
First you must enter the name (20 letters max) and then gender type (Female, Male, Unisex, or Unidentified). After that, choose the age type (Infant, Toddler, Child, Pre-Teen, Teenager, Young Adult, Adult, Middle Age, and Elder). Baby is now one of the new options you can pick, but it can only be accessed through the Genetics part. Then after that, choose the skin color (Ghost, Pale, White, Tan, Very Tan, Asian, Dark, and Very Dark).
After that is the “Personal” stage with 4 parts to it. Divided into 4 narrow sections, the top one is the “Fitness”, choosing from the 7 different body types (Bone, Skinny, Fit, Average, Chubby, Fat, and Multi-Muscle) that you can have a fun time experimenting with. Second, decide of their “Gender Preferences”, ranging from the 4 different slides from the top that go from -100% to 100%. Being almost done with this, you may rush a little through this part to get through the rest of “CAS”. The “Biography” part of this is an optional part, which most players skip, but when you enter it, you will be able to write a narrative and then also choose from almost 50 pictures to put in your story, such as ‘Alien’, ‘Kiss’, or even ‘Potato Chip’.
Finally, and probably the longest to do, is the “Family Relations”. Choose from an existing Sim already and choose from 5 options, Family, Friend, Lover, Enemy, or Stranger. Under “Family”, you can have a choice of ‘Sibling of’ ‘Parent of’, ‘Cousin of’, ‘Uncle/Aunt of’, ‘Niece/Nephew of’ and so forth. The Friend category is one of the more popular ones, among Lover, you can make the Sims “Known”, “Acquaintances”, “Friends”, “Close Friends”, “Past Friends”, and “Best Friends”. The Lover one consists of “Crush”, “Love”, “Secret Crush”, “Love/Hate”, “Steady”, “Married/Joined”, and “Ex-Couple”. The final one, Enemy, will let your Sims have 5 choices with another Sim : “Annoyance”, “Enemies”, “Rivals”, “Jealous”, and “Just Hate”.
You have now completed the “Personal” stage of CAS and are waiting for the more Customized part of it which is the Head Design. The first part that you would go into would be the hair.
The hair is assorted into 6 parts (Black, Blonde, Brown, Custom, Grey, and Red) that can be used for all ages, and even for Infants, although they are usually born bald. The new hair straightner feature helps make hair straight, curly, wavy, or frizzy. Another favorite is the color blender and color chooser, where you can make the hair even more unique by choosing three colors to put in your Sims hair. The final task is the “Scissors”. You are able to make your Sims have very short or waist long hair with a slider.
With new technology, the head feature is even easier to use! Just get a picture that is between the dimensions of 150x150 to 350x350 and is a square and download it to The Sims 3. After that, the system will do its best to match it up to how you want it to be like. Don’t have internet? Draw it onto a screen and it will progress it onto the monitor. If you don’t feel like doing all of this, you can do everything the old way like it is in The Sims 2.

ambnumber11: I don't think that's silly at all. You have some good ideas, and you wrote that very well. I like the thought of Baby's being born with hair or bald. I like the length slide and colour idea (maybe like the pets coat layers?), I suppose choosing the main colour (Black, Blonde etc.) will determine the genetics.

The jump from 1 to 2 was huge wasn't it? I don't see much of a reason to fear that :)
another thing I'd like is having Maxis change the way deep friendships are being developed. Now the easiest way to get someone to 100 / 100 is to flirt and romance them, then make out, woohoo and you're done. Without flirting it takes a lot longer. Lack of Chemistry should prevent crushes and falling in love if the Sim you're hitting on is already in love with someone else. Pretty much every girl is easy and every guy is a stud in SimCity, and the Romance Aspirators are reckless nymphomaniacs

I would love nothing more than for the sims to go the Lara Croft way i.e. dispense with the grid. The Tomb Raider used to use squares to judge all jumps and stuff. In the latest, that's all gone. Have a totally free environment.
Right now we have to use snapobjectstogrid and allow45degree to have anything looking like lived-in organised chaos going on.
Another thing, and perhaps related, is I wish they'd take more time getting the movement AI right. I hate that 'shuffle' the sims do to line up with each other just to talk! I can't remember all the hair I've lost when two sims meet at the doorway, one going in and the other going out and they both start to go right then go left then the action of both gets cancelled! In fact with the latest Seasons EP, they've become even worse at handling movement. It's broke, so fix it, hey?
Sims is a stand-alone game so you'd think they'll have to get basic stuff like that right, right? It's not like we can go on a MMORP to play with other people.

The skin, eye and hair genetic color: instead of having discrete choices like we do now, give us a color wheel from which we can eyedrop the shade we want ala Photoshop.
As an example: The main skin color wheel can consist of the main skin colors gradiated into each other. If the dad's color is, say, Red 999 Green 991 Blue 993 and mom is at another point, then their offsprings' skin color will be generated from the shades in between these two points when they are born.
Then there will be an option to expand this main color wheel into a sorta 'all-in' color wheel where we can pick all the other colors as well. This way we can have purple people without resorting to custom skins, and their kids will also be suitably purple-shaded.
More or less the same idea with the eyes and hair - altho black hair always seem to win out in RL.

Some stuff I've thought about for 3. By no means my entire wish list. Nor do I think it's all doable. Just my dream version of the game.
1: The ever popular Sims being able to visit other Sims. Sounds like it's pretty close to fully realized in the later EP's for 2. So why not take it all the way in 3?
2: Interconnectivity of neighborhoods. Let sims be able to cross neighborhoods. So Lillith and Angela can visit Grandma Coral in Veronaville or Ajay Loner in Strangetown can date Nina Caliente in Pleasantview without the two having to be cloned and plopped into a custom neighborhood.
3: Townies to have homes. I don't care if they all have the same Levittown style crackerbox. I'd like them to be more than mere street walkers. And I'd like these homes to be capable of becoming playable if the resident townie marries or otherwise moves in an already playable Sim.
4: No pre-mades in the Sim bin. Once EP's hit, okay. But rather than having these characters who extend the default families be forgettable in the Sim bin, how about moving them all to their own custom nieghborhood and having them interact with each other? Would John Burb remain loyal to career minded Jennifer if the Singles were around to play with? Would Kent Capp still have his heart out for Bianca Monty if he could go alien? Would also create a default excuse for number 2.
5: The return of the popular items from 1 that didn't get into 2 like the cake dancers and mechanical bull and all the best goodies from 2 as well.
6: Play the WHOLE university. Not just the students. Let us play the faculty and decide if teaching is their second job or their career. What affairs they have with students or even amongst each other. Or the admissions board deciding who gets into college. Or the managers of the student union watching the students come and go and hiring as they see fit. The background sims who make the school run year after year.
7: Woo hoo on top of covers. Now I'm not asking for explicit animations or anything adult on this. Some blurring, the Sims rolling about a bit and noises similar to the current ones would do. Just something that can be done on single beds so dormies don't have to buy double beds that dominate their dorm rooms to "get lucky"
8: An undress command. It's the only step I find missing in the current woo hoo routine. Again wouldn't have to be totally explicit. A variation of the current spin around would do. Could even be romantic in a music box dancer kinda of way based off the current spin around
9: Fix Sim time. Make the things that should take a long time last until half past Sim forever and stuff that should be quick be quick. I live a something of a smallish house here. To get up from this computer desk, cross the house and go out the front door takes a minute. Maybe a minute and a half. Why should it take a self-sim 15 minutes to do the same while he can scan the newspaper for a job in two minutes and I'd need half an hour? I realize for the computer it takes longer to run the walking animation than to do the job search. But we aren't playing a computer's life. We're playing a Sim's.
Seen some other great ideas in ya'll's posts. But these are the big ones in my head.

You can move Sims from neighbourhood to neighbourhood. Just move them and the lot they're in into the house bucket and then go to another neighbourhood then place them down. That's how I moved Johnny and Ophelia to Veronaville.

Ahh yes...but the Sims can't interact with people in other neighborhoods...and they are 'duplicated' (the files are) which apparently mucks up the game a bit if you do it too much.

I highly doubt they'll ever abandon that. One of the main reasons they created Simlish was to fill the need for dialogue without having it be overly repetitive. Wouldn't it get annoying if sims used the same discernible phrase every time they did a certain task? This way, the developers can still make use of repeat phrases, but with your imagination, they can mean something different each time.
Also, Simlish needs no translation for non-English versions of the game, which I'm sure saves a great deal of time and money.

Lifestyles - By this I mean different ways of Sims living, rather than just in a house.
Farmers - Sim's to be able to grow crops like in Makin' Magic, and having the bamboo wallpaper back so you can have more realistic native sims.
Past - Making Medieval sims is a popular pastime for many many simmers, and Sims from Victorian era and such. But its hard when they want a microwave! To be able to set an 'era' for each neighbourhood would be awesome.
Social Royalty - Families which other families want to get to know, and whose parties are a must. Could also be a lifetime want, and only 1 social royalty family at a time. Could come with benefits like everyone always come to their party, easier to make friends etc. And could be won by having 3 parties in 3 days in which everyone who is invited comes?
Live-in maids - To be able to hire a permenant maid. You'll have to supply her a room or something to her specifications and fulfill other conditions - this could tie into a room-recognition feature people have talked about.

10. elder (can only go to next stage if aspiration is platinum during the last day where the grim reaper will visit this sim and if it is platinum he will let you pass to the next stage)
11. older than elder (what do you call it?)
- babies can wear clothes than just diapers

If you don’t feel like doing all of this, you can do everything the old way like it is in The Sims 2.
those ideas are way too silly! whatever happened to veronaville? why have gays and lesbians? ghost skin in CAS, way too silly! where in the world could they get this new technology? lunar terrain? mud landscape? that's just silly! "SOME" of the rest of the ideas, but not all, are great! but those said are above are waaaaay too silly! even waaaaaay too silly for sims!

I know alot of people will probably disagree with me, but I want to see shorter life stages (maybe leave adult the same). Doing a legacy gets so annoying when you have to continue to take care of every sim up to the 4th generation (that doesn't happen to me often, but it sucks when it does).

Wow, harsh much? Everyone has their own opinions. Yes, your opinion is that they are silly, but you should respect the other persons opinions too. I think a lot of the ideas were really good! Sure, I'd change some, but I'm not going to bash the person (I missed who it was that posted the ideas..) just because some of the things aren't to my liking or I think they are "too silly". And what you said about why having gays and lesbians could be taken very offesively by some people.

an prgramme that come with the game to make custom animation but instead of adding them together you have the sim is a default pose say like in body shop and you have a slider for each body part and you can rotate the body for whatever angle you want (Wouldnt that be amazing)

I think that some sims should be naturally gay or lesbian. Perhaps 10-20% of them should be at least a little bit. You kinda have to 'force' Sims to be gay/lesbian, which is a bit homophobic of Maxis.
But saying that, it would be confusing for the Sims if they fancied both sexes at once, unless they developed some coding that meant that 1/7 Sims or something fancy the same-sex as 'default'.

Figgi, I think Maixs made the "gender preference" how it is so that you can choose for your sims. It wouldn't be TS2 if you couldn't customize absolutely everything about them! Not realistic, but neither is blue pee...

Ahh...you could also say that I'm sick of my Sims being homosexual, and that I'm sick of forcing them to be heterosexual. The Gender Preference of our Sims is determined (at first) by the first romantic interaction your Sim performs. If your male Sim flirts with another male Sim (or 'Check Out') than that Sim is no Gay. However every romantic interaction affects the gender preference, this first one just sets it going.

Hmmm.
I'd love to see shoes separate from clothing, and like..
More clothing categories.
Like socks, shoes, bottoms, tops, arm accessories, etc.
And hopefully they could make the graphics better without everyone having to upgrade their systems.
MORE INTERACTIONS FOR THE YOUNGINS! xD
Maybe if they gave them more stuff to do, I wouldn't hate the baby, toddler, and kid stages. :P

you should've misunderstood. what I'm trying to say is why have gay and lesbian option in CAS? yes gays are gays but their male too because they have a "certain characteristic" that girls don't have so they are also considered male but not straight or should i say being gay doesn't mean you change your gender, your still male but it is in your personality that your not straight, same as the lesbians. and an option like this in CAS is not appropriate for under aged players. what i mean is you can be gay or lesbian in the game but not in CAS. do you understand what i'm tring to say?

Hey
Well I do like The Sims 2 as it is. But still I would like to see a few new things improved or added.
I would like to shorten University life because I find it way too long.
I agree with cosmough's idea of babies wearing clothes instead of nappies (diapers).
I would like to have the young adult stage without having to go to university and be able to get all the good jobs without having to go to University.
I would like to create my own townies and NPC's because a lot of the ones in the game are really annoying. :banghead:
Also I think it would be really funny if Sims could have alcoholic drinks :jest:
Erm I think thats about it. But like I said earlier I do really like the game how it is now.

I'd like to see more careers unique to Sims that have gone to collage with high pay. And more things to do with child and teen Sims (I find teens the most boring, because children are simple - feed them, do homework. But teens are expected to do loads and to have a great time as a teen.) And shorter age lengths - adult is fine, but shorten everything down except toddler and baby. My playing style tends to be based on 'families', so I guess thats why I hate teens so much. They're not a cute child but also they're not an adult. My Sims tend to-
1. Find a love.
2. Get married in a lavish wedding (finance permitting).
3. Have kids.
4. Focus on career while raising kids.
5. Use boolprop to age kids when I'm bored then repeat.
(6.) Cheating is involved, and Sims re-marry.
I think Sims playing style tells a lot about a person. I want to have a family when I'm older, so that I suppose is why I do so on the Sims.

I would love an age level in between toddler and child, like maybe a 5 year old. A little older than a toddler, but not as old as 8-10 years old. To me the toddlers look about 2 or 3 and the child about 8 to 10, but that's just my opinion. I would also like a preteen, older teen, young adult, and middle aged adult.
Cassadaga
27th Aug 2007, 08:24 PM
More life stages, definatly. That's first and foremost. I find that the change between a toddler and child is too drastic, and their should be another stage in there. Like a preschooler, age 5 or something. To me a toddler seems to be about age 2 or 3, and then child is like 8.. so there should be something inbetween. Perhaps even a preteen life stage, although I'd be happy with just a new young child stage.
They should give different options for body shapes.. skinny and 'fat' (which I find to be not only rather skinny as well, but disporportionate) are not enough. It would be great to have sliders to change tummy size, theigh size, breast size.. Maybe even height, but that would probably complicate things too much and make it alot harder for CC creators.

Is there any timeline for the release of sims 3?
It is currently a fiscal 2009 title. Meaning it will be released between October 1 2008 and September 30 2009. To my understanding this is the fiscal period (financial year) in America.
I believe an EA spokesman has also claimed it will be released at the end of 2008 in America and early 2009 in other countries.

Cool, so in maybe a year we'll have modthesims3 website :)
Anyhow, what i wont, in addition to some smart things that were already requested here. Is a tester sim, you can have while you are building community or any other lots. This sim would just be an npc, that after you build, you can try the new building on with this sim. So you don't have to go to game, load back to family, and then bring them to the community lot to see how you installed your elevator upside down and your shop is missing a cash register.

I think I would like to see some more things for children and toddlers to do. Other than playing with the few toys they have, toddlers dont do very much but whine for attention. Kids same thing...
Would love to see them add the chances for more multiple births (like trips, quads, quints) into the game. (Yes I know theres a hack for that, but it crashes my game!) So would love that added. Also would love to see them add a chance of pregnancy any time sims woo-hoo, like some of the hacks out there do. I think it would be more realistic.
A couple of more life stages too, like a lot of you have said: small child, pre-teen, and middle age... would make the lives more complete and realistic.
Would also love to see EA get rid of the spinning when you change clothes! And perhaps another personality factor bar.... INTELLECT so you could literally make some sims smart as rocket scientists and others as dumb as rocks.

I'd like them to NOT bring out Sims3 for another few years. I've only just started creating and getting expansion packs (I last got one in October last year, and getting Seasons tomorrow), so it seems a waste of my money if it's released so soon.

I would be glad if they would make the whole neighborhood visible from one lot, and you could see your sims go to school or work, and control your sims at school or work as well.
I would also like it if they made more dramatic ways for sims to die, and the death scene would be more of an intermission sequence in the game, like "Jane passed away peacefully in her sleep with her son sitting by her, holding her hand" or "John died from a heart attack at work, without ever saying goodbye to his wife and two daughters."
Also, I thought it would be nice if there was an action for sims, so when a sim comes home from work or school, the relatives of that sim would automatically rush outside to give the sim a hug and a kiss, and then walk with them back inside the house. Just to give the game a more 'family-like' feel.

The number one thing that I want is more intricate genetics. Children should not just have one parent's nose or the other. For example, a child could have the shape of one nose but the size of the other or a "morph" of both. How about auburn hair if one parent is ginger and the other has brown hair? Hazel eyes even. I think it is too easy to predict what the offspring will look like now. I also think height and weight sliders would be great (maybe an option for Endomorph, Messomorph, or Ectomorph). Definitely more genetic skin tones and eye colors.
Hair that has a messy appearance when waking up and needs to be groomed or even eventually re-cut would also be neat but not essential.
There should be more hoopla for major events (no more dad playing computer during births or guests checking out the bathroom during the wedding vows) and parties need to be customizable for length. I would rather send everyone home and tally the score at that point (if I remember that's how Sims 1 was unless police came or Drew Carey left). As of now it is hard to get many activities in during parties. I would also like funerals/ wakes and more importance put on the death of Sims. In general, Sims need to be more aware of their environments. The other things I would like have been mentioned, so I'll leave it there.
Things that would completely ruin Sims 3 for me: tons of arcade-like mini-games (what is it with mini-games in everything now), Sims 3 looking like "MySims" (cute for a console game but I don't want my PC Sims looking like that), and/or Sims speaking in English. I can't even imagine how annoying that would get after the initial novelty wore off.

- More interactions for children, toddlers, and infants
- More development for careers (not just sitting on the couch reading a book about "Mechanical" to get a promotion)
- More options for personality, and no restrictions on the number of the blue bubble things you can put in each category
That's all I can think of right now...but judging from what a jump Sims2 was from Sims1, I bet we're in store for an amazing game!

I don't think this has been mentioned yet but I think that there should be a chance of having identical twins. The twins that Sims can have now are either fraternal or semi-identical, so it would be nice to see twins that look exactly alike like the twins that shipped with the base game.

I'd love if you could choose a Government for the neighborhood in Sims 3. If you didn't choose one, it would be just like Sims 2, but if you had, say, a Monarchy, you could have a Royal family who would definitely get treated better than the rest of the sims.

Hi,
Good suggestions, sorry if this stuff has already been said but I would like to see;
Better Graphics;
-When in a lot, the landscape scenery should be better detailed, not just the other houses, but the ground just not being flat green, and clouds and stuff
-facial expressions could be more realistic
-The sea and beach should be real looking, not how it looks in sims 2, Bon Voyage looks better, but there is big room for improvement.
-Weather should be standard, not just for EPs
-Anything that would cause system slowdown should be optional so everyone is happy
Items;
-The wallpaper/flooring/items should not be all so strange and wacky, there should be more normal type stuff that people would actually use, not just the traditional maxis theme items that only go with a few other things
-Cars should be more realistic, and there should be more of them, maybe interior colour should be choosable
-Items can be placed diagonally
-more windows, there should be options for how high on a wall
-why not a trampoline?, there is one on console versions
Building;
-the roof tool needs a major revamp, you should be able to choose the pitch or a roof, and when the roof overlaps inside a building, it should be cut off.
-I have noticed that in Veronaville there are houses with black glass stairs that I cannot get, I don't know why, but there needs to be new stairs
-The foundations/stage thing is a good idea but in practise its a bit clunky
Sims;
-more ages like variations in childhood, aeging should be gradual, not one moment they're tiny kid, then they're a teenager
-the genetics need a revamp, they should not just be taken from the parents, but grandparents too, and It should not choose something like one nose or another nose, It should be a mixture.
Other;
-to be able to visit neighbors
-to get promoted you should be able to have your boss over and shmooze them like the private school principal
-objects should decay with age maybe, and when pets attack them they should get gradual damage, not just turn from a couch to a pile of rubbish

i also think that the music should be real they got diffrent stations so under it they should put real artist music... like on pets they got a pcd song on there in simlish they is so annoying it should just be the real song under pop just like hilary duff and etc.. just as hip hop should be the editted versions of t.i, lil wayne , souja boy and stuff like that.
um I don't usually use music stuff much in the sims 2, but I've noticed that some of the songs are real, remixed in simlish, (like there's a pussycat dolls one), but I agree that there should be more proper music like in the Urbz, (I love that game). Also the soundtrack sucks, maybe some more songs for when the radio's not on.

The music like the stereo annoys me on Sims2. I would definatly like the idea of having Monarchy Sims although if you did have a monarchy-type thing it could overrun everything else in importance.
I'd like to see more rewards if they reach the top of their career. Like if you become a Mayor, you can pass laws in that neighbourhood that could be humourous, or make everyone pay you some extra money each day as penalties. Or if you reached the top of the Crime career (as Alexander Goth has on my game) you could 'import' some free items for your home - that could be throughout the crime career, but the quality of the items could increase with their promotions. And with the Education career could gradually come the ability to teach their children skill points quicker than the kids learning it through books or practically could!

I think as long as the developers include some of the already mentioned stuff like
- recolourable and ingame paintable/texturizeable (similar to TrackMania's car painting option maybe) clothes, hair, skin, eyes etc.
- customizable body shapes
- more detailed personalities that have more of an affection on gameplay (shy sims should have harder time talking to people, not just have their social meter sinking really slowly) and that develop/change over time
- more realistic relationships and different relationship types
- better building & landscaping options
- apartments
...the basegame doesn't need things like pets, cars, weather...
If they're pressured to add that much, the game probably won't be as good, quality over quantity! I do however think that they should make fewer, but bigger EPs, that let you get the amount of features in the game back to the current level faster. Like, make the first EP "The Sims 3: Nature" and include pets, weather, gardening and maybe vacationing, the second EP "The Sims 3: Work" and include cars, OFB-esque stuff etc.
Plus, 3 big eps for each maybe 35-40 bucks = cheaper than 7 small eps for each around 25-30 bucks. I know that due to that reason this will probably never happen (ZOMG EA WANTS MONNNEEEY), but hey... It would be hella cool.
Also, some ideas that haven't been said yet.
Instead of Aspirations, there should be 10 Lifetime Goals, that each player can choose from a set of categories... For example Job, Family, Personal Goals, Relationships, etc etc... Goals could be: "Marry", "Have 5 kids", "Become Politician", "Write a novel", "Max out all Skillpoints" etc... Of course all with different amounts of reward points, based on difficulty (with varying difficulty though, for example shy sims becoming politicians is harder to achieve than outgoing sims doing the same, so more reward points) The Sims' wishes then would be oriented after these goals.
Instead of having a neighbourhood screen that's cut off on the edges, make a small planet. Yes, like in Spore. Make it around the size of 4~6 neighbourhood maps. It just would feel less seamless and more natural, and would be an easy way to NOT have tons of extra neighbourhoods in the game. Based on the distance and amount of water between the cities/towns, the game decides the travel options (boat, plane, car, foot). I know this sort of contradicts what I said about vacations being in the first EP, and would make it sort of a basegame incredient, but still.
Mini-Games would be fun, but they would get old really fast. If they'd be included I think there should be an option to turn them on/off, maybe have either A) Chance Cards or B) Mini-Games... If they're not included (which I assume, except that they might be added in an EP, come on - a different minigame for every job and job level? That's a HUGE amount of content), one thing that should definitely be done is add a picture or short video to the chance cards. There could be pre-built lots that are hidden to the players (maybe even have them in the neighbourhoods but you can't enter them) where the game could generate these. Also make some, that don't have drastic results like getting promoted/fired/moneeeey. Make some where you can decide to talk to colleagues/classmates/play pranks on your teachers etc OR include an option to set the Sim's general behaviour at work (talk with colleagues rather than work hard) rather than have the work/school relationships be all random.
Maybe also the ability to create NPCs? Seems more like EP material, but it would be kinda cool and could help players to make the world/city they want. Talking about that, there should be a job influence. If a Sim is president, a rockstar or some other job that's on top of the ladder, other Sims should be all ZOMG CELEBRITY around him or her.
One thing that would be hella cool and would revolutionarize the gameplay is if you could decide between two gameplay styles. Type one, CLASSIC, let's you play an entire family. Type two, NEW, let's you play ONE sim. No matter if you marry, get kids, etc... all these characters are controlled by the AI (which shouldn't be totally dumb for this to work and should follow a basic daily schedule). I think this would add a lot of challenge, because it would enable some unique moments like your wife/husband cheating on you, your kids sneaking out of the house, someone adopting a stray pet, etc... and you only being able to do something about it by controlling your Sim, not selecting a Sim and blocking out the action's icon in the top left. You can select options to scold your kids, confront your wife/husband, talk about issues, etc... and the results of these interactions are all based on relationships, relationship types and skills your one controllable Sim has. It would both simplify the gameplay and make it more challenging, not to mention create a completely new experience and make the game feel truly like a sequel, not just a "big EP".
Talking about skills, and this is my final point, I like the idea that someone mentioned, not every Sim being able to turn into superhuman beings that are skilled at every possible skill. This could be done with the 10 lifetime goals: If a Sim wants to be skilled at mechanics or maybe even all skills, he/she will have the determinance to study/practice until they achieved that. If it's not one of their wishes, they will simply stop at 5 skill points, and the game will prompt you a message with your Sim saying: "I don't think that's necessary." or something like that.

The option of directed game play with goals to achieve to unlock items or areas. Maybe different themed games could be added with stuff packs.

Everything Omega5000 wrote there sounds good to me. NPC creation and neighbourhood creation would be really great. I hate seeing some NPC's going about with a wedding veil or wearing the fancy restaurant clothing in a tikki type restaurant. :)

Maybe this is too sovinistic/feministic, but I would love if the sims had more gender oriented actions. Also, more bodyshapes and hights.

You guys have great ideas. I don't know what to say. The difference between Sims and Sims 2 was more than impressive to me. What I'd like to see in Sims 3 is better details on humans' characteristics. One of the things I didn't like on people are their fingers. They are too "robotic" to me. I would also wish for a little more natural movement and definitely some facts like watching them when going from one lot to the other or when going downtown. Connected to this is that I would also like my simmies to be able to visit other people's houses wihtout being invited. That's all I think :)

REALISTIC GRAPHICS (like of the game Crysis or even just a bit better than elder scrolls: oblivion) and true-to-life factors are what i like to see, say, a free roaming-environment...

Crysis-esque graphics? Psh, like anyone is willing to buy the gaming rig needed to pull that off properly. ¬_¬ And I'm just guessing this, but I'm pretty sure that if a Sims game had graphics like that it'd need an even better computer than Crysis itself, based on how badly Sims 2 runs compared to games of the same graphical level, especially with a lot of CC.

I want sims to visit neighbors too! I also would like the option to follow my sims to work. Not like Open for Business where your sim is the boss. I wanna follow my employee sims to work. You'd be able to control how well they do instead of just building up skill points.

That might be boring over time, but you should have the option to do it.
One old idea for me has been to play the maid, repair man, nanny or even the thief.
Maid or repair man would be a good idea for romance sims :), the nanny would be nice training before you first child and the thief would simply be extremely funny.

#5 This is what I've been saying forever! Please, let me follow them when they leave. Driving or cab not withstanding. How can that be boring????? More drama happens in the work place than you can imagine. Plus, it would be the element that I'd love 'one' of the most.
#4 As for those worried about your PC's......HELLO, everyone said the same thing when they started 'leaking' TS2. If you are a die-hard fan, then you pony-up. And I bought my uber awesome hp pc in 2005 and it was perfect. Now, not so much....time for an upgrade anyway.
#3 For clothing to have animations like hair does...but better.
# 2 But what I'd really like to see is a Poser/DAZ-esque BodyShop that incorporates objects and lots. It's just for creation/story/movie pics. So since it's stripped down, it can handle amazing graphics.
NUMBER 1: The ability to pose my sim into an almost infinite amount of poses.

I would love to see more genetic types like when a sim gives birth, the baby can sometimes be born with or without hair, freckles as a genetic, dimples, things of that nature. I would also love to see parents, siblings, and other family members include the infant / toddler in other things as well. The option to take our infants in strollers, car seats, and the ability for infants to wear clothing would be a plus ++. I would love for sims to be able to mix and match their shoes from the rest of their clothing, and having the option to go barefoot, wind animations so their clothes and hair can swing in the breeze, more original objects that comes with the game so we don't have to worry about downloading all of this stuff for our game and clogging it up.
Cheat-LESS building...I would love to have a spiral staircase and hate to put in cheats to do so (cuz I can't build worth anything now...I can only imagine how it will be when TS3 comes out), nicer objects that match in color. Nicer clothing, hair, and accessories. I would love to be able to see my sims hold and use an umbrella, purses, book bags, actually give birth to their children, have straps to hold their infants on their chest or backs, being able to actually go into a grocery store and use real carts.
That's all I can think of right now but I will update later!

Wow, this thread is really making me excited to see what TS3 holds for us. So many possibilities!
I love the idea of babies being born with genetic traits. I would just love to see a little wisp of hair and some dimples on a cute little tyke. I also hope they abolish the one-size-fits-all baby facial template they're currently using. We shouldn't have to wait until the toddler stage to see how the genes were passed down.
Which brings me to my number one, which is still the same: gradual aging. No stages, just constant progression. How many times have you grown attached to a child sim that turned out to be way different as a teen that you had to get to know all over again? Or how about when good-looking, lively adults suddenly turn into decrepit old hunchbacks with big hips and no personality? I want Bob's two kids to grow with each other and be visibly older every day. I want John and Jane to look different when their children have moved out than from the time they were babies, growing old together gradually. This would add so much depth to the game. Even if the rest of the game was exactly like TS2, if they included this feature, I'd be happy.

I like the idea but I think most computers would explode from even the thought of doing all that processing power. In the beginning they had the idea that objects would gradually get worst, so you couldn't have the same coutch for 6 generations without it breaking up - but it took so much prosessing power that they ditched the idea.
I would like if the sims 3 would start from the same era as sims 1 - I want bob and betty back, and I want Cassandra to be a kid again.

Laser Tag? Who doesn't like that? Everyone can play -- Except babies and toddlers.
Visiting Neighbors -- I Noticed you can click on a Family's home (i forget which EP that came with) it goes to that family [NOT VISIT] but if they came up with something similar (Click on Home, Dialog Box - "would you like the - Family to visit the -s?", Yes/No) .. Then a cute interaction when nobody's home can be... they arrive at the lot and then go "ehuh? and then o the arm flailing, or maybe wait and stalk one of the family members... the kid sim could also sleep over the host's home.) then just like the "At work/school icon" they should have a zzz icon next to their picture and it'll say "Sleeping over X's House" and if they have school they go to school and then come home afterschool, but if it's the weekend, then they come home at 12 PM
I want to see my sims go to Work and/or School, but this would probably the hardest thing to program. And a Lot Of Dialog Boxes... "Do you want to take so-and-so to work?" "Do you want to take so-and-so to school?"
Cars SHOULD be in the Core, and WALKING too, I don't care for the taxi because it takes too long. I don't want to wait for an expansion pack to walk. I Also want Sims to take Toddlers to Daycare (and they pay for the service when the bills come) or they can stay home and have someone (i.e. a guest
they're comfortable with, best friend, etc) take care of them, not some nanny.
OH and *IX compatibility :D
If I think of more i'll post here.

I don't think I'd be into that. I kind of love the cartoonish style of the sims. I hate photo-textured things. I love the fact that it's an artistic game. I love seeing how well they create things in that consistant style. I don't play the sims so that I can create a real world that looks as much like life as possible. I play it for whimsy and extremes. That way I can remember it's a game, which is meant to transport my mind away from real life. If I wanted that level of graphics, I'd buy an XBOX.
On that note, I'm not against them upping the graphics ante. I would love to see more things like what BV has added (though I haven't installed it yet), such as beautiful beaches, or like in seasons, different lightings, different types of environments, random animals in the wild (like fish, or birds). I'm curious to see what they come out with.

I remember reading some interview or article where they told it. I was trying to find it but was unsuccessfull. It most likely was in a designer diary or a chat transcript, becuase I read this before the game came out - and I stopped reading those after I got the game.

I think we should be able to choose things like what kind of school the kids go to. Like military school, and bording school, instead of just public and private. I also think we should be able to put the kids in daycare or preschool, instead of just having a nanny come by and mess up the house. And I think we should hire help like we hire employees in open for business, and then if we underpay them they steal stuff, like real servants. And I think that different levels of service should cause different performances of service, and obviously better performance cost more.

It'd be great if Sims 3 had a campaign/challenge-like feature where players could create challenges. Like, there would be an objectives screen and you'd get points just like challenges now, but completely in-game. We could download challenges and play them!

I'm part of that very vocal minority that does NOT want to follow my Sims to work and school. I played The Sims Online for a while, and let me tell you, playing Sims while they work is excruciatingly boring. Work and school is mostly boring in real life, so why would I want to watch my Sims do the same thing? All the fun stuff happens at home.
WHY can we not just fast forward time to a certain hour? If all my Sims go to sleep and wake up at the same time, why do I have to hit fast forward and sit there and wait while they sleep? That's so boring. I should be able to tell the game to skip to a certain hour, and then if a burglar came in the middle of the night it would skip to that hour instead.
What I probably want most is more variety in facial features without sims looking deformed. There is more than one beautiful face in real life, so why are there only a few face templates that look normal in the game?
Oh, I also wish our Sim's faces didn't have to be symmetrical. I'd love to make a Sim whose nose tilts just slightly to one side, or a Sim who has one eye a teensy bit higher than the other. How many people do you know whose faces are perfectly symmetrical?

- I'd love to see toddlers and kids get to do more. How come kids can't even use the microwave?
- I'd like to see more ages even if they were shorter, I think it would be great to watch them transition better instead of kid to *boom* teen. No older child? Preteen?
- More body types. The skinny looks like a barbie doll and the fat doesn't look realistic at all.
- I agree that stuff likes freckles, moles, etc would be great.

hieght and weight and being able to change in between... sim gets fit or sim lets him/herself go. plus being able to go to work and school with your sims.
Better skin, hair, eye etc color selection like in the DS version of the sims where u have a scroll system to choose the colors

I want there to be more features like choose to go to school/work with your sims
socialize, work etc.
go to playgrounds etc.
i want there to be more sims in local clubs etc. because theres only like 4 usually.
i want to know the height and width weight etcetc of the sims.
I want to customize things like shoes , accesories.
I want to have more occupations. I want things to be more realistic.

Another Idea Popped Into My Head. Sims should be able to pick what time is best for them to work and take it from there, which leads to my next idea. Sims should be able to handle 2 or more jobs (like Single Parents.) It'd be great for those storytellers as well :)
I also want EAxis to get more involved with simmers, they don't listen to us at all.

I want to know the sims thoughts.
I just want my Sims to *have* thoughts. I love the "furious" feature, and I'd love to see more versions of it; how about puppy love? This would be a short-term crush that works the same way as furiousness, and your Sim rolls want after want involving that Sim, thinks of them often, and rejects less romantic interactions from that Sim than they normally would. I think this would be so cute.
I also want parents of teens to be more involved in their kids' lives. I'd love to see a Sim father not approving of his daughter's boyfriend and lecturing her for dating him, chasing him off the lot, etc. How hilarious would that be?
You're not alone, I have the same opinion.
Sooo glad I'm not. I just don't see the appeal here at all.

I don't know Barook. I'm of two minds here on this one. On the one hand I agree that it would be good to be able to tailor Sims to ethnic patterns for relatability and to a degree even educational purposes. But on the other, I'm sure they don't want to risk losing people because there are Arab elements American customers don't understand and misinterpret as offensive. Or to accidentally tick off Latinos by stereotyping where they don't mean to be. I think just including the traditional cultural items and leaving it to the player to act out the cultural stuff is probably good enough.
As for the religion thing, that would open a whole other can of worms. Would Christian players still accept the game if there were Muslim influences in the game and vice versa? Could they create a composite religion just for Sims? And would fundamentalist Simmers embrace it or be offended because it wasn't theirs?
Also there would be the matter of what happens when someone legalistic who can't separate the notion of Maxis material and CC like a Jack Thompson gets his panties in a twist over some of this? I see where you're coming from but I think it's best to leave this to a player's play style. Too many cans of worms this could open.
