Vidcund's like that in my game too...! He took care of her a whole lot more than Pascal did when she was a baby, and he's still always going over to play with her or see what she's up to. I thought it was cute. XD

I found that Sims are apparently quite willing to commute long distances for pissant jobs. My Sim recently hired someone via phone and he turned out to be a Twikii local - if she calls him on the phone, the option to Invite as Houseguest is present and all.

I learned that even if you kill off the girl who is best friends with all seven of her roommates and all thirteen partygoers in the last 45 seconds of a party, it will still retain a good score, and may even increase to Roof Raiser if there's time (I got that with fifteen seconds left). It's too bad she was the one hosting the party, so the 'Great Party' memory went to no one.

Wow... guess they weren't best friends after all!

I found out couple days ago that the teddy bear toy decreases their social bar. Not when a kid is playing with it alone but when the other sim is fooling around with the toy and playing like it would talk to some other sim. It will make their social bar drop quite a bit.
Pretty idiotic if you ask me.

Yeah , I thought that too but it's still pretty idiotic. Mother was playing with the teddy to amuse her toddler son and it caused them both to drop their social needs =P

I discovered that a dead Sim's needs still drop while the Reaper is there. o_O Poor Bryan got hit by a satellite last night (I always save before a stargaze though so I got him back) and his needs kept getting lower while Grimmy was filling out his papers.

The first death I ever had was death by satellite. XD This is the second time I've had it, and both of them were totally natural and unexpected. I sorta wish I could've kept the satellite wreckage, but ah well.

Make sure you plant all your crops at the same time. Or keep track of which ones your sim skipped the last time you used "Water Many". I overwatered plants several times by selecting one that had the option of "water many" but wasn't one of the many that actually needed watering!

If your maid leaves half of your home uncleaned before s/he leaves, it usually means that their Neatness scale isn't too high. If you have the ability to select them and change their neatness to as high as possible, you won't have this problem anymore.

I discovered that I probably have some sort of conflict going on with default eyes.... one of my alien children became a teen, and he suddenly had normal grey eyes! I immediately closed and went and deleted the custom alien eyes I had, but that didn't help.
At least he doesn't have the typical huge alien eyes, that would be freaky...!

Also, I think the greater the age difference between the Encourager and the Encouragee, and the bigger the disparity between the selected personality points, the less time it takes to raise the points. So an extremely neat elder encouraging a very mess child to be tidy will take less time than a moderately neat adult encouraging a somewhat messy teen.

I discovered that ghosts can apparently break things, and tombstones can vanish...? o_O
I have this one house that has been haunted every night lately, which seems odd to me as they only have 3 graves, while another house I have has 5 and I rarely see ghosts at it. The last night it happened, two of the three ghosts were about... I didn't see what happened as everyone was asleep and it was on fastfoward, but when they woke up I suddenly had a broken lamp, and the tombstone of the one ghost who hadn't showed up was gone. I have no idea where it went.

I discovered that when we installed Seasons sims who were in the sim bin or in the first couple of hours of the first day on a new lot had their LTW re-roll. But my teen who had formerly wanted to become a Criminal Mastermind (until he left for college) apparently has lingering criminal desires because I also discovered a new want: Counterfeit Simoleons! Tired of the same old junk when your sim turns on his/her sterio? Well be anoyed no longer. Now you can hear your own music coming out of their sterio.
HOW DO I DO THAT?:
In your Sims 2 game file there should be a folder named 'music' (or somthing of the like). Open it. In any of the foldiers withing 'music' you should be able to delete the music that is already there, then it willl appear in-game.
NOTE: all files must be either WAVs or MP3s

One: I've really, really missed playing the game. My puter was old and lame so I stopped playing for about a year and a half. New puter plus new EP's equals a happy Jadzia.
Two: You can lock gates, as well as doors. The doors I knew about, but locking gates was a surprise. M'not sure how useful it'll be, but if it keeps out the mailman, it's all good.
Three: I have Uni and Pets...and I desperately want the rest of the EP's.
Four: Two and a half gigs of custom content, newly dl'd and installed (nothing old except my beloved hacks), seems excessive, but really isn't. I NEED all that stuff, really I do...
Five: Dogs knock over the trashcan, which is kinda cute to watch. I want to be able to adopt puppies, as that's what many real life people do. Dogs doing the whoo-hoo thing is unutterably cute...but I'm glad they do it in the doghouse, you know? The sparks and rocking are quite enough for me - lol.
Six: Cats singing along with the stereo is totally realistic. My own cats do this regularly.
That's it for now. I'm just now getting back into the socializing that goes along with the game.

This was really weird. I made my sim play at the poker table, but she doesn't want to. There's a speech bubble with money behind a big red "X". Strange thing is, they have tons of money.
Maybe a new diescovery? Or are my sims not hustlers?
Edit: Yay! Post #2800!

I believe that Poker is played with personal funds, not family money. (Wouldn't it be nice if it always worked like that in Real Life?) Tips (and I believe profits from paintings and the like) will contribute to the amount of money a sim feels they can spend on things like poker and ticket businesses.

Always check to make sure you know what all your sims are up to before saving. And never save just as a sim autonomously answers a phone you didn't realize was ringing. :(

What's really frustrating is when your Sim finds a three-lighting bolt match in a Townie, and goes through all the motions of starting a relationship, getting a dream date, etc, only to find out that the Townie has no phone. I made the mistake of getting one Sim engaged to a Townie (with the help of the Voodoo doll) before realizing she had no way of calling him!
Anyway, I discovered that wedding attendees sometimes clap after the ceremony. I have had many Sim marriages over the years, but the last one was the first time I ever saw someone stand up and clap at the end.

This happens with kids too, but I think the relationship has to be high with child and parent because one of my kids will always greet their mother and the other (who is not the nicest child on the block) tends to ignore 'mom' coming home.

I got that option too once with a guy from Takemizu village. Useless to say that he arrived on a snowy day when my sim was at work and after waiting for some time during the blizzard he decided to leave. Kind of wish they'd say when they're going to arrive so sims could plan their schedule.

When you have a sim play the violin (with the Freetime expansion pack), they sometimes play part of the cadenza from the first movement of Tchiakovsky's Violin Concerto in D. It's played well, too, though the tuning tends to drift sharp (but that could just be the result of hearing it through computer speakers). Since that's one of my all time favorite pieces of music, I thought it was a pretty sweet thing to have Maxis include!

I have a set of twins, and I sent the brother off to uni and kept the sister at home (old fashioned family, she doesn't get college) however I forgot he still had some unfinished homework. I was controlling their father and clicked on it, and got "Help Shui With Homework"... but Shui is the sister....! o_O Somehow her brother's homework became hers when he left!
I also discovered that when you move a gravestone to a graveyard, the ghost of the Sim will appear briefly and wave goodbye at the house. It's sweet and sad at the same time.

Sinthe: The parent seeing them off is the one they have a higher relationship with I read once. I'd have to test it out, but I believe it.
Legolian: I think it's more of how siblings can do each other's homework. If, as Shui, had clicked on her brother's homework you would have gotten the same results as if you had clicked on her homework. Parents don't seem to realize whose homework is whose.

Toe stepping has been in the game since slow dancing was first introduced. It can only happen though if the Sims AREN'T dancing close to each other which they usually do.

It was really irritating setting up snap shots. The dog's free will was still on. I had to keep repositioning her.
One of my characters kept twirling into a coat to 'Play Fetch' (RRRRR!)
I had people keep getting up that were supposed to be sitting, because they were summoned by the dog.

To buy off a furious sim you need to have the sim they are furious with click on them.
Grouchy sims autonomously cheat at chess and darts, with a relationship hit if they get caught. I'm not sure, but I think they also cheat in bowling by changing scores.) And they get furious with their partner if they lose the game, especially if either side cheated. Of course they also get furious at losing a video game or a game of bowling, so their dates and outings tend to be in places like the grocery store or the cemetary in my game...

Here are a few I picked up and/or discovered...
1. This one comes in handy in an Asylum challenge (or anywhere with uncontrollable Sims) - you can start Doing Yoga and Ask others to Join Yoga, and they will! They won't get Body points, but they will gain Fitness. That came in useful when dealing with chubby inmates in my asylum. :)
2. This one may be because of the new "Family awareness" in FreeTime... Here's the story:
Dirk Dreamer (still a teen) gets a crush on Angela Pleasant's daughter Terry. Terry does not have a crush on Dirk.
Terry goes on a date with someone else. Dirk Dreamer shows up, and gets jealous/Furious with her.
Back at Terry's house, not only does Dirk come by, Furious with Terry, kicking garbage cans, and stealing the paper, but do did Darren; who also witnessed Terry "cheating". Not only that, Darren would show the Furious animation, with HIMSELF in his thought bubble.
3. Alexander Goth (a teenager) is attracted to Angela's other daughter, Samantha. I had him visit a community lot where Angela was there. They were talking over burgers, when he "told" Angela he was attracted to Sam, and she got the speech bubble with her daughter's face and the attraction hearts too... I think when that happens, the Sim isn't attracted to their offspring; they're just discussing the memory.

I didn't understand anything you said after pressing T but I must try that out.
I don't know what is it with garden genomes, but even the nicest sims get all evil and start stealing them. Anyhow, once my sim got the genome icon, I cancelled it, because I thought it was view or something, but then I paused and put the cursor on top of it, and it was "Steal Genome back" - but I don't know how you steal it back as I cancelled it. Now i'm spending way too much money on Genomes hoping the action would come back.

How can a Sim get pregnant at the wrong time? :D Without hacks, you have to specifically "Try For Baby"; and with hacks, wouldn't most have a pregnancy setting? :D
I don't use any kind of ACR, so all my Sims' kids exist because I specifically wanted them to. :)

Sidneydoj,
They won't smash your gravestones in a cemetary? Mine tend to do that quite often.
They kick gravestones of sims they didn't like, but they never met any of the Triicou family so they don't do anything with them at all. (Except look at me funny and shrug if I try to get them to mourn...) It's only urns that I've seen get smashed to pieces, anyway. Stones are hardier.
What I just discovered:
There is a "car" on MTS2 that is a horse. I've usually only used it for a single person, but yesterday I got curious and didn't buy the horse and carriage that I usually use for multiple sims. Yes, you can put more than one person on the horse. And yes, all the options are there and they do all work.
But the Rocking/levitating car animation, combined with the fact that you have to click on the actual horse to get the "woohoo" option can leave you with (How to say this delicately...) An Odd impression...

But even cooler than that: I just tinkered with my game so that I would have new townies with my new facial templates. Cool stuff, but that's not even the amazing part. I've discovered this before but I always forget about it until I see it again - children of parents that can never be met (ie. Pollination Technician, Grim Reaper, etc) have dreams about that parent occasionally. I've caught all of my aliens dreaming about the Polli Tech at least once, and Arel dreams about Grimmy occasionally. It's cute that they think about them. ^^
Oh and speaking of Grimmy and children - I was poking around in SimPE and opened up his memories, and he actually had memories of Arel going to college and graduating! Nice.
I also discovered that a Sim can leave a toddler alone to go steal back a stolen gnome! Or at least he can half of the time; Edward had two gnomes stolen in one day and went to go get them both, and I didn't get any warning message until he left the second time.

*A criminal showed up (thief) and I think he was attempting to steal the family's car. An alarm went off (car alarm). The cop showed up, they had a fight, and the cop LOST. The thief ran off (empty handed) and the cop went sadly into the family's house, up to the sleeping owners and said, "I guess I'm not the cop I used to be?" And he left...

I was totally surprised yesterday. My cop actually WON!
Even Nice sims can bad-mouth sims they are furious with. This is a lovely way from keeping my family from deciding to be best friends with the guy who broke into their house and tried to steal the kid's potty chair. (Which needed emptying, so maybe the burglar really was doing them a favor.)
I also discovered that the guy from the garden club is lucky that my sims can't kill an NPC. One of my sims with 0 Nice points was having bad conversations with the garden club guy while the garden club guy was constantly stopping and admiring my sim's wife. Then the garden club guy tried to hug the wife right in front of her husband. (It was Spring, and there was some strong chemistry there.) She rejected him, my sim slapped him, and a few minutes later they were fighting. My sim finally called the garden club guy to the roof where the telescope was and then trapped him there. The garden club guy wet himself 3 times, complained about being hungry, and finally passed out after doing the motions they usually give just as they are dying of starvation. (Knowledge sims like to be saved from death, so I do a lot of starving sims so they can be saved.)
The garden club guy was still alive the next morning when the paper boy came by, so he was released. I made him selectable as he was leaving, and the only motive which wasn't completely red was Bladder.
