I discovered that if a plantsim with gold talent badges spawns a plantbaby, the plantbaby will receive those same badges in bronze upon reaching adulthood (except for gardening, which is gold). Plantbabies also inherit their parent's skills.

My next mission is to see how it works with servos!

Edit: Also, I discovered that when a plantsim becomes an elder, the birthday confetti is a burst of green leaves!

something for those who want to get their sims marry him, he is not a blonde guy, his eyebrows are red too.

Is the floor bamboo, by chance? If so, that's the problem - not the size of the room. The bamboo floor is glitched and tanks environment score.

I think there's a fix for it, but if there is, I can't remember who made it, unfortunately.

You guys are so right, it is the bamboo floor. Thanks for pointing that out.

I discovered what happens when a household is filled with sims with no parenting know-how whatsoever.

In the legacy house in Pleasantview, the toddlers are completely free-roaming: they sleep in pet beds, don't even ask for bottles when they're hungry (pet food is apparently extremely yummy), and basically don't need the adults for anything now that they're potty-trained. They're like feral carpet sharks.

(However, my Strangetown sims are, with few exceptions, usually autonomously good parents. I think the legacy house is just filled with bubble-headed morons. Even Circe -- who really does seem to dislike babies and toddlers -- was better to her boys and to Igor than the current legacy bunch is with their spawn.)

They're like feral carpet sharks.

Someone at MATY once posted a shot of his/her toddler setup. They were in pens (fenced-in), each of which had a couple toys, a pet bed, and a bowl of pet food. Maybe potty chairs, too - not sure. Basically, that's where they spent their toddlerhood. It was hilarious!

I learned that there are apparently several versions of Double Deluxe. A friend and I both started with Double Deluxe, yet we've had different features available from the start in our games. While I've had the option to put away leftovers, invite entire households, and see ceilings since day one, she hasn't. She also has to use different expansion pack disks to start her game, while I use the Double Deluxe disk to run mine. It's really odd.

My only guess is that my copy is a post Apartment Life-issue, while hers is pre. I was looking at the object files of my installation and I noticed that it has a folder listed as "EP99," which must be the Double Deluxe one. It's similar to my Sims Complete Collection install, which is listed as Ep99 as well.

Installation order seems to be a factor also. For all that we were told in the beginning that it didn't matter with Sims 2 like it did with original Sims, that seems to be false.

I've seen a number of reports from people saying they didn't have certain catalog items or social interactions in games where the EPs were added out of order, and that those items and interactions became available when they reinstalled in order.

Romance Sims will roll wants to see children engaged/married. I created a family that had an adult Fortune Sim, with her elderly parents being Popularity (father) and Romance (mother). Her mom rolled a want for her to get engaged, then married.

Interesting. Romance Sims balk at committed relationships...yet want the same for their children!

I don't watch the Sims TV much, and I usually don't let them watch more than a minute or two, and so when I turned on the TV to give my Sim a little fun, I saw Bella Goth playing the piano in the garden! I'm sure a million others have seen it as well, but its the first time I saw it, and I also saw those three brothers? I think that's who it is, one was being taken by a spaceship. Lol Its interesting when you watch the Sims TV. Never really did that before.

They are notorious for things like that with the premades. Wrong hair color (the genetic code not matching the color the sim actually has), and missing skinetone values. Oi. Its no wonder that the games can be buggy.

Ok, now EAxis is just being stupid. I played Sims 1 briefly but gave up after it frustrated the hell out of me. Mortimer as an adult in that game had black hair and so did Bella. I never checked Mortimer's genetics when I had Sims 2 installed, but it is stupid of them to give him brown hair.

Dirk Dreamer got one of those "friend of a friend" phone calls from Jasmine Rai. He went on an outing with her & a few others. In his relationships panel, Jasmine's face was partly shadowed & she was listed as a Contact for him, which gave him one more friend that he needed for promotion purposes. Edit: The friend token only lasted a couple of days :(

I created a University in my mainhood complete with dorm and other school buildings. I finally decided to add Le Tour University for my wealthy sims (I also changed the name). As I'm in the process of giving the school a makeover, I finished one of the new buildings and sent a sim to the lot to test it out make sure everything working OK and I was pleasantly surprised to see one of my sims Kendra Afumei who attends HTU in the mainhood on the LeTour Campus. That was a pleasant and very welcome surprise to see that she will be able to travel between the two campuses on her own.

I discovered that I need to actually Try On formalwear before using it, as a bad mesh or recolor that doesn't show up in buy mode can ruin your wedding pictures. When Amy Jones graduated I chose a lovely custom formal for her; but when she whirled into it to get married it had huge rays of color projecting from her wrists about the length of her body. As soon as the ceremony was over I sent her to the clothing store annex of St. Elvis's (it also has a makeover chair; you could do all the wedding planning right there on-site) to buy something else so I at least could get a couple of shots, but the ceremony itself was a bust as far as pictures were concerned.

I discovered a new way to save money: if you bathe an infant in the sink instead of changing diapers, you don't need to buy a changing table. And no stinky diapers lying around that your sim has to put into trash bin each time.

And I'm surprised that when a parent reads a book to a kid, there's some kiddy music playing.

You can seemingly make sims eat spoilt food all their lives, and they don't get poisoned. One of my poor sims didn't have a fridge and kept ordering pizza, and no matter how stinky it was, the sim never got poisoned. Some pizza slices were lying around for days on end.

And cats... Cats happen to be so modest! When a sim is using the toilet, a cat whines that it can't enter the bathroom! But if a cat is already doing its thing and a sim enters the toilet, strangely the cat doesn't whine or shoo the sim away. I guess it figures that too late is too late

I think you're getting lucky on the pizza - the first time any of my sims ever ate spoiled pizza she got food poisoning.

This was Sadie Hawkins, btw, and right after the frat party where she ate it, she and all her dormmates were invited as a household to each of the core families in turn; and she threw up at every one. The natural assumption was that she was pregnant, even though she hadn't woohooed anybody - it seeming perfectly plausible to everyone that a Hawkins system could find nontraditional ways get pregnant. This is actually what started her on her "virgin slut" career (no woohoo at all till after graduation - everything but, though) and using redundant birth control methods.

I learned that sims can get other sims demoted! I've had the "you'll be getting a promotion the next time you go into work" pop-up before, but I never knew there was a negative one until just now!

Gunnar Roque is newly married to Anthea Ottomas, and despite promising to be a faithful husband yadda-yadda-yadda, he goes and calls up some girl he knew in college and proceeds to woohoo her in the Ottomas-Gieke home. Anthea is a bit of a push-over, so she forgives him after a hasty Smooth Talk, and I thought that would be that. But then I see elderly Samantha getting into a fight with the YA hussy Gunnar dared bring into her house, and I thought "you show her, Samantha; that'll teach them to mess with your children!" and then I get a message saying that the girl is going to call in a few favours and get Samantha demoted the next time she goes into work! Harsh.

So first this girl tries to steal Anthea's man, and then gets her mother in trouble at work! Talk about a homewrecker.

Both Circe and Loki Beaker got demoted due to townie torment in my game. Before I got Apartment Life, I used to let them pick on whatever unfortunate townsperson they brought home from work. It seemed to be their hobby: either Loki or Circe would start in on tormenting their new "friend" and the other would hurry over to join in. However, that all changed with the introduction of the Reputation system . The next crying townie resulted in a pop-up saying that they were going to get demoted. They've had to find a new hobby.

And Kristen Landgraab (formerly Singles) got her Reputation tanked and a job demotion when she broke up with all of her townie boyfriends. She invited them all over, then planted a big kiss on her new husband right in front of them. The resulting slapstorm was pretty impressive.

I've discovered that toddlers can sleep in the dog house. I already knew they could sleep in the pet beds, but I didn't know about the dog houses. I couldn't find one of the twins so I clicked on her picture to locate her, turns out she was passed out in the dog house. Pets are very useful as far as keeping toddlers occupied. Heck, you can pretty much just ignore them if you get them a dog or cat. :giggler:

I just realized that the items in a pet's queue are in black and white, while those in a sims action queue are in color.

Grimhild has custom hair that she inherited from her mom Frieda (with a recessive gene for red hair that she also inherited from her mom) while her husband Siggeir has blond hair (with a recessive gene for red hair that he inherited from his mom Circe). Both of their older children -- daughter Olivia and son Grendel -- are redheads. However, their newborn son Garm has black hair that he inherited from his maternal grandpa Nervous.

Today, well, yesterday, but I just got up, I discovered that Sims can streak, after one ran past my active sim and into the dorms. Streaking is annoying. I am forever canceling it out of my controlled sim's queues. It's like they sit there and go "Oh there's nothing to do and I'm bored. Let's streak!" I'd rather they do the very annoying and almost as popular research-although-my-class-meter-is-full-thus-prompting-an-annoying-pop-up thing they do. It's no wonder I hate playing college. I think I need to find mods to kill these behaviors...

Even my werewolf sim Sonny Ray, who had the full 0/10/10/10/0 werewolf personality never autonomously streaked at the frat house.... probably because he was too busy wandering off for pizza or developing a drinking habit at the bar, when he wasn't making everyone's ears bleed at the piano.

Mine don't even have to be in dorms! I swear that one sim is somewhat high on the playful scale, about medium on outgoing and not very active (not positive as I haven't played in a while) and he has streaked everywhere he's lived! The dorm, the house with his girlfriend, the greek house. And it isn't just the one sim. If i leave the other controllables alone, random walkbys even if I don't greet them, visitors I have greeted... Its unreal. ~VP

In Live mode, if you've paused the game and you move your cursor onto the red "pause" symbol in the top left-hand corner, it changes to a green "play" one. I've always used the buttons on the UCP or the "P" key to unpause it!

I was just in SimPE, checking on stuff I'd been putting off doing, and I noticed a CAS adult with different genetic and current "nice" scores. Gene Skirt, whose only relatives are his wife and children, all built together in CAS, and his grandchildren, born in-game, is only using three nice points but I apparently made him with four! He and his wife are in the same age categories, and even if she were an elder and I'd used the "Encourage" interaction, she's a lot more likely to encourage him to be nice than grouchy. So I have no guess about that.

I discovered that sims with 0 activity points have the option of sleeping in their beds no matter what their energy bar is at. (Newly-landed alien Skuld is a Pleasure sim through and through: she sleeps half the day away, gets aspiration points for taking a bubble bath, then gets aspiration points for changing into her jammies, and THEN goes back to bed until she decides to dance like a moron at the radio while her dog barks along to the beat. She's living the dream.)

I definitely have to try and recreate this just to be sure, but it seems sims can make pets wet themselves when they yell at them.

I had a cat, for no reason at all, start scratching up an expensive living room set (It's scratch needs were full and it had an abundance of scratch posts >:(). It was of course at 2am, so by the time my sim stopped spooning his wife and actually got out of bed, the sofa was in bits. The cat then sat down on the floor so my sim couldn't scold him for scratching the set (>_<) so instead I opted to just yell at the cat (I was frustrated too - it was a brand new couch T-T) and while it was being yelled at, the cat actually wet itself :0

I believe it's bladder was only halfway full so it wasn't like it was running to the kitty litter. I can't think of a reason other than it had a cowardly nature. But again, I'll try recreate the situation just to be sure. But boy did I feel bad for the kitty - I didn't mean to scare it or anything...

If two toddlers Huggle repeatedly in a short period of time, their temperatures will go up a bit.

Also--don't get baby toys right away. Lots of times a toddler will roll a want for Get a Toy...so if you want to boost their Aspiration score, wait until they roll the want.

In my game, they roll this want quite a bit, but the toys are likely already in the house. So I buy them a teddy bear, delete the old one, and ka-ching to Aspiration.

That's odd - my toddlers only roll wants to buy toys if there are no toys in the house. It's like the new-house-move-in wants to buy fridges, stoves, bookcases, etc. - I only see them when the sim is basically telling me: "Dude, there's nothing here! Get a move on! I can't live like this!"

Orilon

I only saw the want to buy a toy from the toddlers if there weren't already toddler toys in the house.

For example, the first child to grow from baby to toddler always wanted to buy a toy and learn toddler skills. With ACR, the mom would most of the time be pregnant with a second baby. When the second baby grew up, the toddler toys for the first child were still there, and the second toddler wouldn't roll buy a toy wants, just toddler skill wants and maybe a be played with want.

@LuvSims2011: it can't be as bad as one of my sister's recent families, The girl got pregnant, on the day she "popped" for the first time, her husband got alien abducted. Then when time for the sims to give birth, she got twins. BOTH times. And she swears no cheesecake was involved. Nor were any hacks. She runs a very low CC game and only really has "essential hacks" (some from MATY's Director's Cut and a few other annoyance-killers, all of which she copied from my heavily hacked game.) I've been heavily amused at listening to her trying to deal with four toddlers at the same time.

Ah, I haven't seen them chill on the merry-go-round yet. I guess my teens are too playful, and are just like me, who'll (in my 20s, mind you) see a merry-go-round and be like, "...ZOMG A MERRY-GO-ROUND someone push me!!!! ::runs around it like an idiot::"

I discovered that asking someone to pledge to your Greek house will satisfy the Greek House want, but doesn't give them the Greek House memory. In addition, they retain the ability to ask to join the Greek house, even though they already belong. It's almost like the pledging never happened.

Peni Griffin
19th Jan 2012, 04:04 PM
Did you go through the whole pledge process and ask him to move in? Because it's a two-step process. First you pledge (which works differently depending on whether you're working it from the frat side or the pledge side), and then you move in.

Mootilda
19th Jan 2012, 04:22 PM
I don't want my sims to move to the Greek house.

If my playable sim asks to join the Greek House, do they still go through the pledging process? Or, are they just added to the Greek house without the pledge period or move-in requirement?

I assumed that the process was the same regardless of whether my playable sims asked to join, or the Greek house member asked my playable sim to pledge. I was surprised to find out that there are major benefits to asking to join, over being asked to pledge.

Mootilda, there are minimum requirements to join; if you ask before those are met, they'll just turn you down flat. I don't believe you count as a full member until and unless you move in. After all, what's the point of being in the Greek if you don't live in the house?

I think (it's a long time since I played this sim, since I hadn't gotten up to her in the rotation before I asked my husband to hide my disks for a month) that the girl I had to move out of the sorority after she'd moved in but before she graduated continues to generate the interaction "Ask to Join Greek House," just like other graduated ex-Greeks, which implies that once you've joined and moved in, you're a Greek for life. So if you don't want your sim to live in the House for the rest of his college career, but do want the membership for some reason, you should be able to move him in and back out again. I don't remember Naenae getting any Greek-specific wants after she moved out, but then she isn't Popularity, the aspiration most likely to roll those, either.

I used my test Sim to see what will happen if I go around the community lot and buy things without money, because my Sims always have money.

I figured out that some things just won't work:

Dining at the restaurant will bring the bill to the household bill, plus a drop of relationship with the host. Much like when staying at hotel and you couldn't afford it.
Even if the fund is already 0, Sims still can give tip to the human statue.
The option to learn break dance and fire dance will not appear
If the fund is somehow down to 0 between grabbing the magazine/grocery/game and payment, the cashier will say that my Sim can't afford that.
Trying to buy snacks from vending machine will make my Sim say "I can't afford that!". The same happens if he tries to buy drink from bar.
Playing Mahjong for money will make my Sim whine that he doesn't have enough money and should play for fun instead. Playing Poker will just make my Sim refuse and keep standing.

There was still many, but I didn't get to experiment it. I wonder what will happen with going on tours without money, making a wish from BV wells, something from business, buying espresso, and other things

I discovered that, when the only available hand-off person is busy, some sims actually show some sense as to where they put the first baby before giving birth to its twin (ie. not placing it on the floor).

In my legacy neighborhood, 4th-gen heiress Death Ray Probe was due to give birth to twins any second, so I made sure that she was close by to her dad Craig for the hand-off. Well, Craig -- who has the attention span of a fly -- decided to play with the pet brick while his daughter gave birth. Finding no one to hand the baby to, Death Ray trudged gamely inside and put her newborn baby into the crib before she birthed the next one.

Sad to say, I actually applauded when I saw her do that. It really impressed me, especially since she was formerly one of the free-range, semi-feral toddlers that subsisted on cat food and slept in pet beds.

Sims living in apartment buildings can throw a building party. (Of course it helps if they actually know their neighbors.)

BTW the game calls it kicky-bag; when I was a teen in the 80s it was known as hacky-sack. I'd be at the bus stop in junior high and the guys would be playing it constantly.

It's also a great way to become friends with another sim. If the other sim accepts a game of kicky-bag they will literally play until they pass out sometimes. It raises the STR bar every few seconds as they kick the bag back and forth. I've had sims become friends with 5 other sims consecutively just from kicky-bag alone.

Oh, and that bathing together thing is ADORABLE. I must try it. I assume you started them in different tubs and then moved one into the other's?

I believe it's because that the tables at the back patio have some candles placed on them. And if I'm not wrong, the candles are not centerpieces, so you can't eat properly on tables with such candles. If they're really playful you can direct a child or teen to slide down them, but I don't think the option's available on the most expensive staircase (the one that's in the Socialite collection) for some reason.

I did use the restaurant booth, not chairs and did place them in C chape. Sims always want to sit in the "center" of the C and the the girl (sitting to the left) could not get out she crawled under the table to get out on the right side. Then they were leaving I noticed an other sim diving in on her place. She could not get in moving from left to her place so she did a pose and just dive in there. Sort of cool.

My game is hacked to the eyeballs, but I'm quite sure peeing on bushes is not a hack thing. I thought it was a sloppy sim behaviour, but from what others are saying, sounds like it's a sloppy/lazy behaviour.

Too bad it's only male sims, unless a hack is used. In real life, peeing on bushes is certainly be easier for males, but in Sims 2, gender matters not at all for the vast majority of sim activities. This is a rare exception.

If I ask a sim to do something they don't want to do the argue and then walk away very, very slow. I think my older sims move faster than that. Okay, this is weird.

My alien children all have family tags for each other because of the shared PT parent. I now have another child in the game who shares only one parent with other offspring, William Ghote, whose mother Luz was built in CAS with four children and no husband, and recently had a baby in-game. She and William aged up together on their most recent rotation, he to toddler and she to Elder; yet when I was reviewing the memories of her sons Lucas and Lisandro on their rotations, they only had "Luz grew up well" memories - nothing to do with William!

This is annoying and means I'm going to have to get into William's relationships in SimPE. I'll also have to check Ashley Pitts-Upsnott's legitimate child and bastard to see how the game does that, though I'm fine with them not recognizing each other as family automatically; it's better if I understand how the game does things up front. It's weird that they'd do it differently for the alien kids.

My one lone plant Sim owns and operates the town produce stand. It's an open air venue, sort of like a day market with no amenities to speak of although the main "store" area is covered with an awning.

He does very well selling his ridiculously overpriced veggies and fish. The other day there was a summer storm and when lightening hit the one tree on the lot all the customers panicked and ran off. Unfortunately they ran off with bags full of my Sims produce, without paying!

Kind of irksome in general but since he grows everything himself this was a major insult. I use a couple of products from Simwardrobe that allow you to pack the produce and fish into crates. So he didn't just lose out on the sell of a few single items but crates of product.

Totally steamed me especially when a few of the Sims in question came back on the lot later and the game didn't register the previous goods. It's not just the revenue loss either but the fact that the products themselves are not easily replaceable, losing 8 or 9 crates of produce means he lost almost an entire harvest.

I'm sure I'll get over this eventually and in the future perhaps he'll close the stand during severe storms so at least everyone will have paid first.

That the Gypsies, are now tag teaming. I kid you not, it was very odd.

I was at the Art Museum in downtown. There was one Gypsy, she stood there ringing the bathroom door bell, because apparently bathrooms in the Sims have doorbells, that's of course if the lot doesn't have an alternative door, or the Gypsy is just to lazy. ANYWAY, the Gypsy was just standing there, and spitting on her ball. Then she left, and right after she left. Another came in. I was like:

"I swear she slapped the other Gypsy's hand! They want me to buy potions! I get it now!"

Never greeted them.

Also what saddens me, is I have the Store Edition of the Sims 2...And I no longer have my coffee shops... I like watching the Sims twitch.

Rather than "discover" this I would say I more came to a realization of the necessity of a large townie population.

I play a custom hood and originally I only created the bare minimum of townies/downtownies/dormies ect needed to make the game function in a rational manner. There were two main reasons for keeping the townie population low; the first being a desire to avoid overpopulation and possible hood destruction, the second was laziness on my part on having to mass create groups of Sims. Even if you randomize them as much as possible if you don't take the time to try to make them somewhat unique you might as well just have the game generate them.

For just straight game playing this was all fine and excellent. Anytime a townie married/moved in and became a playable I would just create a replacement and occasionally I would add some to balance out the population some or just to add a bit of variety. All in all though the overall combined townie population would remain around 150 Sims.

Then came my complete focus on OFB and all it's game play aspects. I've always had a few private businesses here and there but recently my gameplay has really shifted towards this dynamic. What I've discovered is I don't have enough townies to go around to supply the needed workforce for all my new businesses.

So I finally understand the need to have throngs of annoying townies about the place. Now of course I'm faced with the need to create a hundred or more Sims to push up the population. At least I can do them in groups of 8 a few at a time as opposed to having to do them all just to get the hood up and running.

I discovered that Welcome Wagon can include children. In fact, there was 3 kids and no adults. Never knew that could happen!

probably because you have children on the lot (?)

Yes, there was 1 child on the lot. Still, it has never happened before even though I have kids in almost every household and I've played for years. Always something new. :)

Usually, children are in school when the Welcome Wagon comes (noon on Monday?). You must have been playing on a weekend.

Yeah, it was Saturday. I think from now on moving days are going to be on weekend... :) I mean, is there anything cuter than neighborhood kids coming to greet the new kid?

Maybe you know this alredy but yesterday I discovered that kids can greet sims of all ages but can just say goodbay to teens and other kids. I did not know that becurse I don't play a lot of familys whit kids (and other kids use to leave when the clock is about 6 PM or so).

This isn't something I suddenly "discovered" but something that I've just come to notice and appreciate over time: I love it that different Sims react differently to pregnancy. Some sail through, all "La-dee-dah, isn't this fun, look at me GLOW!", the kind of people I always HAAAAAATED when I was pregnant. (All of mine were no fun. :p ) Others...I can't get 'em out of the bathroom for all the constant barfing and resulting toilet-cleaning. (And I can totally sympathize! ) Some have backaches, some don't. I just think it's fun. And the same Sim doesn't react the same way each time, either.

And...I'm sure this is just coincidence, but one of mine who had a "rough" pregnancy, with lots of barfing and then backaches all the time (and an Inteen-generated brush with miscarriage) kept rolling a fear of having a baby for quite a while after that one was born. And she was a Family Sim.

But then there's the guy who had an alien baby and had a similarly rough pregnancy...but as soon as he gave birth, he was off getting abducted again. I was like, "Did you learn NOTHING, you freak?" Strange thing is, he's a Romance Sim, not a Knowledge Sim. It's his Knowledge-Sim husband who owns the hacked telescope, but HE'S the one who's always choosing to be abducted. I guess he has a fetish or something.

But anyway, this is one of those little touches in the game that I just love and that, for me, makes the strange things not really so annoying after all.

You have a Welcome Wagon that's not on Monday noon? How? I thought it's the default for a newly-played family?
Nevertheless, it still doesn't make sense why only children greet the new family even if it's Saturday. I mean, can't they spend their day doing anything else instead of greeting strangers that might kidnap them??

I assume they were using the Day Setter (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=318007) to change the days around. I know I use it when I have sims come back from university on odd days, although it's been ages since I've seen the welcome wagon, hm...

I thought that if a family moves into a previously-owned house, then the time remains set at the time that the original family moved out?

This may depend upon the move-out method used.

So I discovered something. That more than likely I should have known. So I had two families in 1 apartment, yes, talk about jam packed -.-" Barely any room to move. But anyway. There were two mothers (sisters) and two daughters for each family. Well, I thought it would be cool to get the aunts together from each family. They were so cute together! Then I wanted one of each family to be together their names were:

Spence and Mona

Very cute couple. Until I did something rather moronic. I got their mother's married. And I thought nothing would have changed. Well that is a big no no no. Because when they all got to College. Well, Mona could only kiss Spencer "Family Kiss" and I spent hours getting friendships up with friends, and keeping their love steady. And now, I've to redo everything. So, yeah...That is what I discovered -.-"

Okay, that's weird.

I felt too crappy to work so I opened the game and went into CAS to test some CC and get rid of some outfits I don't have meshes for, and the sim who generated was wearing a HHGTTG t-shirt - black, with the Milky Way and an arrow pointing to an invisible dot on an invisible dot, saying "You Are Here." (Not that you could read it on the shirt, but my husband had that t-shirt - wore it to rags.) I was going: Yay! When did I download that and why haven't I put it on anybody?" But one of the CCs I was testing was a saved sim, so I couldn't keep that randomly-generated sim - and when I went to dress his successor in the same t-shirt so I'd know where it was -

It wasn't there. Not in tops, not as part of a whole-body outfit.

Waaaaah! And how does that happen? It must be in there somewhere, so there must be a way to put it on my sims!

I made a pretty stunning discovery yesterday, while playing a lot that has many gravestones in the garden.

So it was night and it started raining heavily, and then all of a sudden a lightning struck one of the gravestones. This on itself was pretty new to me, but what I really found amazing was that the lightning was so bright that it didn't only light the house and lot, but also all the neighborhood decorations that happened to be nearby! It was quite a sight.
I had no idea lightnings could be so powerful. I mean, of course, they can set trees on fire and strike Sims, but nobody ever mentioned they could affect even hood deco.

Peni, I have an outfit that I can't find in the catalog either! It's a nightshirt for teen girls. It's just like the blue sports shirt, but it has a picture of Lucy from Peanuts at her psychiatry booth. I've only ever seen it when generating a new sim in CAS, like you, or sometimes my girls will transition to teen with it in their wardrobe. It's so weird!

After YEARS of playing the sims, I came across a want I had never seen! My female sim aged into an elder and had the want "Get Plastic Surgery" and the fear "Plastic Surgery goes wrong" LMAO [not sure if it was worded exactly like that but it had to do with the career reward]

i discovered that sims can "Salvage" through the Garbage can (the one infront of the lot) where a sim would search through the garbage can (he found a plunger and gained 2 simoleans), however this interaction was only availbe from for former butler, while his wife, a former barista, didnt have the option, and they are rich by the way, no idea how or why???

It's a slob thing. Sloppy sims can Salvage. Quite amusing. :giggler:

ETA: I discovered an annoyance while playing yesterday. I sent my plantsim simself and her twin sons (THAT was a surprise) to Three Lakes to find Bigfoot and invite him to live with them. Once home, I noticed that Phil Bigfoot had the Popularity aspiration, and it didn't suit him. (My plan was/is for him, and perhaps a second Bigfoot later, to live with the plantsims, and they'll be my gardeners/fishermen for the neighborhood.) Anyway, I wanted to change him to Knowledge, and found out that Bigfoot cannot use the Renu-U Senso Orb, nor does the SimBlender have the ability to change his aspiration. I'm highly annoyed. :(

Thanks Nevermore Raven. His hijinx will be missed in Pview. His teenage daughter is saving up aspiration point to get him resurrected. Even if it fails I guess zombie gerarth is better than no gerarth at all. :D

Darby, I think I know what could work. A sims website I've been to has bigfoot in a box. You could save the game then buy and release him. If you don't get the aspiration you want, just quit without saving and try again. Kinda like getting the gender baby that you want. I wouldn't consider it cheating since they have already got the map and met bigfoot.

That's an idea, HexYeah - thank you. I actually already have Bigfoot in a Box, but keep forgetting. Might give it a try.

Personally, I don't consider anything one wants to do with one's game as "cheating" as long as it's not for a challenge that forbids it. :)
