Since the last thread was deleted in the purge, I figured I'd start a new one. ^_^
Today I encountered the coach for the first time. My sim wasn't even that out of shape! Weird.

Yeah, it's Uni. If your sim is out of shape, a coach appears on the lot and makes your sim drop what they're doing and exercise.

My sim invited her boyfriend 'round for dinner, but headed to bed shortly afterwards - and...
...the non-controllable boyfriend started trimming the hedges, weeding the garden and generally tidying the house. I never realised they could or would do that. My sim can't be worth all the hassle, surely? ;)

I discovered that you can now lock doors on your houses and/or fences. You can limit whether only you can unlock the door, or whether you and household members only can unlock the door, or whether you, friends, etc. can. I think this is a really neat addition and I'm assuming it came with the new pets expansion. I've noticed that the animals can go in an out of the house as they please and assume that this lock was made so that you can prevent strays from coming in when you don't want them to. If you pet or feed a stray (get friendly with it), it automatically can then come in your house and wander around your lot freely, therefore, the locking ability makes sense, if you want to keep them out of your house.
This is also useful if you get tired of friends coming home from work with your sim and you don't want them to automatically be able to walk in the house and do what they please. I don't like it sometimes when they come home from work with you, because a lot of the time it seems to be at an inconvenient time that disrupts something you're trying to get your Sim to accomplish.
I have also discovered that I absolute love this new expansion pack!!! I really didn't think I would when I first heard about it, but now I just love it!

I checked my e-mail and I had a message that said it had shipped (apparently this morning, but that has to be a lie), and I checked my mailbox and there it was. So I think that EA is screwy, because it couldn't have shipped from Detroit to Vancouver Island within the day, I don't think.

I discovered an intense passion to kill off the two sons of my favourite sims, one of whom is the kid of my favourite sims before them. It's not my fault though, I can't stand the sight of the boys anymore, and they certainly can't carry on the family line; their noses spread all over their face.

My sim and her husband (Castor) were kissing on the couch. Then my sim's sister, who has 2 attraction marks for Castor, came and sat next to them. And she was extremely frustrated to see them kissing, she had this "have a fit" thing and her relationship with her elder sister and Castor fell to 50's from 100. Neither my sim nor Castor had such loss on their side though. Castor and this sim are only friends! I think that's very interesting. They can be jealous of someone they are attracted to even if they don't have an emotional thing going on.
Besides, the sister's child "cries softly" when he sees this couple making out!...

Snapdragons appear to be cumulative. (ok,I'm cheap. I've been playing OFB for 2 months now, and just now got someone who could make them to sell.) I had 6 on display, and the only motive which was dropping much at all was energy. After all but the last 2 were sold, motives were dropping faster. Either that, or they had finally hit a critical line and the number of flowers had nothing to do with it. But I am still going to fill my house with snapdragons from now on.

The only EP I have is OFB and I have it. I wonder if it comes automatically with NL, too? Super useful though. I'm going to make an elderly "I'm bored with you" sims house one of these days. :D
Edit: Oh, and something I saw for the first time yesterday! A want for "Have 20 grandchildren" worth 30,000 aspiration. The sim in question's LTW is to marry off 6 children, but even that's only worth 25,000 asp.

that my dog has a obsession with yowling at the tv
Yeah, I've noticed my cats and dogs don't seem to like the television or the stereo. I think maybe they just don't like the noises. You should also make sure if you put a pet's bed in the living room or a room with a tv or stereo that while the pet is sleeping the tv/stereo stay turned off so they can get their rest (just like sims wake up when a tv/stereo in the room is on). My cat meows at the stereo and my dog howls at the tv. I guess the animals just don't like all that noise.
Pets has the door locking option, too. I don't have OFB.
I'm beginning to think maybe each time a new pack comes out, maybe some of the good interactions that were in the one before it may be added to it too.
Akronborn, maybe the merge families thing will work for you. Just try from the neighborhood view to move a sim or pet into a household that already has sims living in it. I think this feature must also come with pets because they give you some pre-made pets in the lots section of the neighborhood view where your homeless pre-made sims are, and I read in the gamebook that pets cannot live on a lot by theirselves, therefore, it would make sense to think that they put that interaction into the pets game in order to be able to play those pets that come in the lots and families bins. Also, there is nothing in there that says you HAVE to create Sims and pets at the same time - they let you just make the pets and those are placed in the lots and family bins, so how else is one going to be able to get them into a home with sims unless you can merge them?
Try it out.

Depends on the vampire. But the Grand Vamps do seem to love bowling and pillow fights.
Also the bubble blowers and musical instruments that no sim can stay away from.
(They all seem to be pleasure sims. I guess this makes it less likely for them to go into aspiration failure over people who didn't want to be a vampire getting themselves cured. But it's kind of weird that they never get the same want to be cured that any other pleasure sim will get. At least they never actually fear it either.)

I'm pretty sure I've seen this mentioned somewhere before ages ago, but I just discovered that if you buy a bookshelf, have a sim study something, then sell the bookshelf while they still have the book out, you can still use the book to study without the shelf. Well, more yesterday than today. But I discovered that if you're planning to play your Sim's wants in numerical order, you better pray you don't get a female Family Sim with Have A Baby in Slot # 1.
I tried to fulfill for this for one such Sim. So they woo-hoo that night they move in. The next morning she's in hunger desparation. But she's already in the bathtub washing up when I notice this.
So she gets out of the tub starts to wonder if she's pregnant and promptly keels over into the fetal position. I'm caught so off-gaurd by this that I'm lucky to properly summon her husband to the bathroom. One night in the house and he already has to plead with the Grim Reaper for her life. Unfortunately, I fumble the task and accidentally cancel the action before Hubby can complete it and his bride dies. Naturally I deleted him and acted like nothing ever happened on the lot. Another couple lives there now and has no clue what happened to the prior occupants.

Assuming it's a glitch, my Sim was holding my kitten at the time the carpool arrived. He changed into his work clothes (still holding the kitten), walked outside (still holding the kitten), got in the car (still holding the kitten), and off he went (guess what? Still holding the kitten!)
That happened to me this weekend. Stephen Tinker was holding his puppy when the carpool came to pick him up and he took it to work with him. Somehow I don't think his boss would have liked that since Stephen was a shift manager at a fast food restaurant.
Then the next day, they were having a birthday party for their twin girls. He had brought one of them to her cake when the carpool came. He had just stood there with the baby for the longest time without age transition. Finally I cancelled out command because I didn't want him to miss his ride. Instead of putting the baby down, he took her to work with him. And the strangest thing was that all their guests that had gathered around the cake stayed there the whole time. I even tried to get Wanda,Melodie and their other two daughted to engage the guests in other activites but they stayed put. When Stephen got back from work, as soon as he got out the car the baby grew up. Then the guests started cheering. Too weird.

If you are playing a severely sloppy sim, like Don Lothario or his children (at least in my game his kids are sloppy), you have the option to 'salvage' if you click on the garbage can. I've seen them make anywhere from $4 to $12. It was kind of cute (by cute, I mean, a little gross) when the kid did it. She fell all the way in the bin. Teens don't fall in.
I also noticed that sims love playing with the birds and the womrats, but don't mourn them when they die. :(
Nina Caliente is actually a pretty nice, if a rather single-mindedly domestic, sim. And she's very clean. Grim came to get her because she was so busy taking care of the house and feeding everyone else that she forgot to eat. Which is funny because I always thought she and her sister were skanks. :)

If you send a pregnant lady to trim the bushes, and don't realize both her hunger and energy bars are on the red, it's practically impossible to bring her back to wellness. The odd thing is, after I got her better, I sent her in to have a shower and after she came out, she curled up and died.... I still don't know why. Now she's a zombie, and her baby (born from her as a zombie) is a gorgeous toddler.

I had something rather odd happen to me today, although I'm positive it had to be a glitch. I was playing a small dorm when one of the NPC dormmates went into the bathroom stall. Pretty normal, right? But something caught my attention..
This sim was a female, but she was peeing standing up, facing the toilet. Like a man. Funnier still is that she looks rather masculine as well..

I had a glitch once while playing one of the Sim State U dorms where the cow mascot suddenly froze in place and the poor Sim was stuck there forever after, to the point where they desperately needed a shower! I never thought of deleting and restoring the poor thing in cheat mode, for some reason. (I haven't used cheats since The Sims 1 and the days of having to use move_objects_on on particularly stupid dogs and cats so that the carpool/bus could leave for work/school.)
The other day, I discovered that Sims with queued-up actions in a multi-Sim household, unless watched like a hawk, are prone to substituting their own actions. (I sent Edwin Sharpe, who'd gotten more than a little tubby, upstairs to exercise in front of the TV, switched to Roxy and her boyfriend, and returned about two Sim-hours later, only to discover that the lazy sod had been lounging on the sofa all that time...)
I also discovered that (a) it's a bad idea to have a Sim cook toaster pastries when they need to leave for class in a half-hour, and (b) if you're going to set off the sprinkler system to fulfill a "Pull Prank" Want, it's a very bad idea to do it in a room you plan to have the prankster spend time in afterwards.
(BTW, how the heck do you get the Coach to show up? I've had several overweight Sims in various college households, and always had to make 'em do their exercising on their own.)

I think it's just random. I moved Ripp, Tank, Ophelia and Johnny into their own house at Uni, and within about 15 Sim-minutes, the coach turned up lol

I actually mentioned this in the previous thread, but it's sort of a warning so I will post it again:
There is an upper limit to the number of Aspiration points you can have stored up. Once you get to 327,650 (or maybe it was 327,680) you are maxed out and cannot gain any more. And if you use the sim-vac while you are maxed out, it resets your total to 0.
You also need to keep most of your pictures in a story album. I found that out a couple of days ago when I was taking pictures on an unowned lot and they stopped saving. I have a story with about 150 pictures in it so far, so I was worried that I had found an absolute limit. But after I put all my loose pictures into the neighborhood story folder, I was able to take pictures again.

I'm probably really slow on these...but...
Today, I found that if you have a sim paint a portrait of another sim, and the subject leaves to do something else, the portrait will be of a blank wall (or whatever the background was). Same thing for still life if you move the object/landscape/whatever.
Also, if you set one sim to work out, at least on a machine, you can have another come over and be a personal trainer.

As long as there's for them to sit, you can click an adult or teenager on the xylophone (or other toddler toy), and it should have the option to play with (well, you should have the option anyway, they just will throw a fit that they can't sit, as usual). I think you can have up to 3 playing with the toddler. I know I've had two.

That's not how it's worked with mine. It may be an EP thing, though. I only have Uni. I've done still lifes of sims before, but they had always stayed in the same spot while the picture was done. Just not that day. The toddler that had been the subject had long left (the painting was started, then finished several sim days later). That's why I tried doing a portrait instead. But the subject ended up with a full bladder and left for the bathroom, while the painter kept on going. So I ended up with two very nice pictures of walls  .

It IS possible to set the toaster oven on fire. (my Legacy Founder's wife did so)
Inability to cook, regardless of skill levels, seems to be inherited. After his mom set the toaster oven on fire at cooking level 3 (trying to fix a toaster pastry), the Legacy Generation 2 spare decided he wanted chili con carne for lunch (at cooking level 5), and promptly set the stove on fire... then went and stood in it to panic. AxelValentine, InSim enables the player access to functions inside the game that aren't normally available. You can set and clear family, romance, and friendship flags or attributes in a way that is not a normal part of gameplay. I've used InSim to create a situation Maxis did not intend for the player to create through normal gameplay. I summoned a Sim to my lot who had a death token (was considered dead, but didn't have a tombstone/urn) in Pleasantview. I made him selectable and, having him as the active Sim, I tried to resurrect him. Well, it made my game crash to the desktop. Apparently, a Sim who is dead, should not be the active Sim and, as the active Sim, he should not be on a lot trying to resurrect himself. Maxis did not intend for me to create that situation, but InSim allowed me to create it. Thus, there was an unexpected effect. There may or may not be any ill-effects depending on how you play with the relationships flags for family members in ways Maxis did not intend. So, be careful.

A couple of things I've noticed since the install of Pets:
Pictures are no longer removed from the storytelling bin when a family/household is merged into another or otherwise disappears legitimately (the pics were always in the storytelling folders but were no longer accessible in-game), no doubt due to that all-too-common complaint of Exchange storytellers "I forgot to move in a placeholder and now my college pics are all gone!" (or something to that effect).
This one may be pre Pets, but I hadn't seen it before -- parents can now randomly visit their YA offspring on the college lots. I saw this when John Burb drooped in when Lucy had invited her fiance (Beau Broke) over and spent nearly his entire (ungreeted) visit freaking out because Lucy goosed Beau.

Angry sims, at least in my experience, yell at the first one they feel like yelling at, regardless of who used the telescope. I especially like when the offender is still using the telescope, and the neighbor runs right by them to yell at an innocent family member.
On a same note, I discovered that said innocent family member can be a toddler. Neighbors are kinda silly, since toddlers can't even use the telescope.

-My sims also got a cold! Its so hard to get them to stay in bed D:

I had a sim move out of the dorm after a dream date. ( He graduated.) He got the flowers, but the reward had not been delivered. He married the girl he had been dating, and they both became vampires. Then my husband moved one of his teens into that same dorm and the next day the wife came over (in bright sunlight) to deliver a DJ booth to my husband's character!

They don't have to stay in bed all the time. Just make sure they get enough sleep, and make them study or read or watch tv a lot. Mine always get better within a day or so if I do that.

One of my sims started chatting up a robot at the disco and I discovered an option to 'Tune Up' so, of course, I clicked on it. She produced the usual huge screwdriver and proceeded to use it on the robot who loved it. The robot was kicking it's leg like when you pet your real life dog and hit just the right spot. I'll post a pic of my sim with the robot in the Random Pics thread but meanwhile I am kinda worried about my sim having the hots for a robot when I had lined up a really hot guy for her :banghead:

I discovered that a Popularity sim in an Asylum Challenge (with 7 other sims) has very little trouble keeping his aspiration gold, even autonomously. I also discovered that love isn't everything (two friendly/crushing sims, and when I prompted the girl-- my controllable sim-- to flirt with the guy, she gave me the evil eye!).
I have a question: How low does a sim's Neat/Sloppy rating have to be before the sim is willing to take a spongebath from the sink? Or is there an expansion required for that?

The only way they will do it is if there hygiene is very low and there is nothing else to use, like a shower. I'm pretty sure that it has nothing do do with Neat points.

But it takes forever to get anywhere with it. I wish crosswords counted for more.

They have to be outgoing to some point. Shy sims won't do it. Also, I've had my fair share of stupid sims who have a perfectly good shower waiting for them in the next room, but no, they'd much rather strip naked in front of their poor guests and family and use the kitchen sink. But I think the idea is for if there's nothing else available.
Today, I had just moved Dustin Broke and Angela Pleasant into their own house at Uni, and wanted them both to do some term paper-ing, so I bought two computers and plunked them down next to each other. A bit later, I had Dustin playing SSX3 and when I clicked Angela on the other computer, it gave her the option to join a LAN party. I find this hilarious (and extremely helpful, since their social shoots up as fast as their fun).

Like if they're getting a visit from the Psychiatrist guy, and possibly the social bunnies, I could only see those NPCs through while the sim they were visiting was selected.
Also I found it insanely cute for some reason that the 'Task Line-up' or whatever you'd like to call it, for the pets have black and white pictures.

It was really annoying. But I won't delete it because Its probably a bug with a hack I have that will be updated for pets.
It might not be a bug. If someone came by your house with a flu - in my case it was John Burb who I never played - they will contaminate your sims. Sims can have seemingly random fits.
Just today one of my families celebrated the toddler transition birthday for their first kid. The proud father doted on his son, constantly picking him up or talking to him. So, he's doing that, and I'm watching the guests talk, when suddenly I hear this grumbling noise. The dad has backed away from his son and is stamping his feet in anger. I was a little confused, but I had a Sim pout after a baby was born (sort of a "Great, another mouth to feed!" thing, I guess) so I figured it was fine. He does this 3 or 4 more times, and then I'm really lost. Just what the heck is his problem!?
Finally I notice that his mother-in-law and father-in-law are always being intimate in some way when he does this. I checked their relationship stats, and they're all -100! They seemed fine before, I have no idea where this came from. He doesn't even love either of them, so I doubt it's jealousy.
So, yes. Sims can throw random fits.

I had a toddler become furious with his mother for something. When I checked his memories with SimPe, the toddler had a memory of his mother having an affair with his stepdad. While it is true that they made out with each other, they were engaged to each other and living in the same house when this happened. So apparently it is possible to cheat on a sim WITH that same sim. And anger people who find out about it.

This happens to me sometimes when I tell the Sim to stop playing chess and do something else. Their arm gets stuck up like that, as though they are ready to move a pawn or something. So it's more likely something like that than showing off the ring (although that's pretty funny!).

The number of Greek house members has nothing to do with how many actually LIVE there. You still have the normal limit on the number of people who are actually in the house. The 32000 maximum simply means that you can have everybody on campus pledge to the house if you want to. Once the pledge period is over you can ignore them entirely until it's time to move someone into the house to replace someone who graduated or moved out, since the only way to combine anyone into a Greek house is for them to pledge first.

One of a couple I have has custom skin and I wanted one of their kids to have the dark skin like the other Sim, so I had him get pregnant with himself. Alex (father) = Grey eyes, dark skin, brown hair
Sammy (daughter) = Green eyes, dark skin, black hair.
The couple also have had two kids with different coloured hair. Both parents have brown, one kid has black and the newest boy has blond. I've never seen that on any of my others.

I feel really stupid posing this but oh well! lol When one of my sims became a child i bought his two everyday outs, one for his toddler brother, and a teen outfit. Well he wore one and when his brother turned into a child he was wearing one of the outfits! And when he turned into a teen he had on the teen outfit. When his baby brother grew up he had on the toddler outfit i had bought! I was in shock. I thought I was the one who had to put the outfit on them!!!!

I discovered the "Surprise Engagement" option that's available when two Sims in love are dining. I've never noticed that before! Gonna have to use that sometime.

I discovered that a gypsy in my custom neighbourhood is named Joy Hurt. I think it's a...cool name. Joy and Hurt.

I got Pets for Christmas and the first thing I spotted that I didn't expect was in Strangetown. I was looking at the new neighbourhood decorations when I saw a weird glowing effect off the side of the screen and when I zoomed over to have a look there was a spaceship scanning the crash site! I would have got a picture but I was too slow and it zoomed off.

I finally discovered the "flying pig"! I was on the phone and left the game in neighbourhoodview for at least half an hour (never did that before), and there it was: the flying pig. Amazing...

You can put a roof on the ground. It looks kind of silly, but it was perfect for an old abandoned house I was building.
