Is your sim a fashion forward stylist who is going blind from seeing all the poorly dressed in game sims? Here is your chance to do something about it. In this contest sims or teams of sims will be going head to head to see who can do the best job at rescuing the clueless maxis made sims from their sickening lack of style. In each round you will be told what in game sim you should take under your wing. Get ready to make your stay in Pleasantview a bit more pleasant. Eradicate the fashion victims!

Does this mean I have to take out the maxis sim and stick them into CAS? Just a bit confused because I'm quite unsure of how to take a maxis sim(npc, townie, etc) and get them to be in CAS, or are you saying we have to use the ones that we can take out of the premade sims button in cas?

The team can be just one or several-no preference. I plan to have mini tasks resulting in pics of the team in action.
There are several saved sims in Create-a-sim-the host was one. Choose one, take a picture of them using all maxis items - BEFORE - then a picture AFTER using custom content. The rounds later might specify the occasion for the AFTER PIC and recommended cc's but for now its all you!

But if we are only allowed to used Maxis content for the makeover, doesn't that kind of limit the creativity we can use? Like for me, I only have 1 EP lol. People that have more EPs have more options as far as styles of clothing, hair, etc.

I really love giving makeovers and being creative. I understand if you intended for us to be challenged by only being able to use Maxis content.

urbanique, the before wont be judged ever so whatever maxis sim you chose we'll just look at the after with the cc's. ALso for future rounds ill choose the sim to be made over and will make sure its one you all have in game- the resident families of pleasantview for example. And all questions are fine, no need to apologize. Im still working the kinks out myself but I promise it will be fun and fair.

Brief Bio: Guy's the name, makeovers is the game! Well, my friends said I had a flair for makeovers so I decided to make a profit out of helping the style-challenged. What A Difference! I changed his glasses to ones with no-frames, stylish and functional. Goopy likes to cover up, no problem, a sweater and pants will do the trick.

No CC - only CC used is my defaults for Goopy's makeover.
Llamas? - No llamas were harmed in the making of this makeover, maybe some chickens or cows though.

Heidi, if you are restoring from a backup you've made all you should need to do is just move whichever hood you want back into your mydocs/ea/sims2/hoods(obviously not that exact path but I just shorthanded it lol) :)

Though I would recommend making a backup of your current hoods first, as there's a chance something might get overwritten and such, much like in my case because I only have Riverblossom still in game, my play hood which is n001 and contest hood which is n002 lol

edit: just realized you probably could just change the name of the hood folder but I'm unsure if that will work

but I just tried my theory of just renaming the hood folder, it ended up eating my play hood so that didn't work, but one should be able to use simpe to get a sim out of the hood you want when the time time comes

I want to enter and have figured out most of the rules... The sticking points that seem to remain:

1. Why would we need Pleasantview if the sim can be a CAS saved sim, ie. not from Pleasantview? I thought that as long as the sim and clothing/makeup is Maxian then that would be fine. If it can be any sim, then Heidi doesn't need to restore Pleasantview. I have no townie regen so only have playables and service sims in my Pleasantview. We can't use playables and the service sims are mucho unattractive.

2. If we have default replacements other than just skin and eyes do we need to take them out before doing the "before" shots or can we leave them in? I have default replacements for everything, including eyebrows and makeup. I guess it makes sense to take them out in order for the "before" shot to be truly Maxian.

Safyre: You can't just rename the hood folder, you need to rename every single file in that hood. Use CKRename or another batch renaming proggy and the game won't eat your hood next time. I normally make a copy to the desktop, rename the folder, then CKRename all the files to match the new hood number and only THEN do I put it into the game.

The downloads are biggish but at least you don't have to restore Pleasantview or its townies if you have no townie regen. The downloads that say "original" in the filename have the original, non gender reversed sims.

I thought I had the rules more or less clear in my head and now it turns out that they are not. Let me get this straight - only the makeover team remains the same and we will be assigned sims to make over in each round? That just is not what I understood from the first post at all... Uh oh! Now im confused. Basically engram your default replacements are fine because the most important part of the makeovers for the future rounds will be the after shots. As for the before for your entry, I would prefer the shot have only eye and skin default replacements but if not thats cool. It wont be judged just wanted to see the great transformation. As for Heidi, the issue is with her acquiring the sims to be made over in the future to start with. For example, If a task was to make over Daniel Pleasant she might not have him because he's a Pleasantview sim. Hope its clearer. Would love to see your entry.

Brief Bio of makeover team: One of Pleasantview's premiere set of stylists, the team started out with humble beginnings. Best friends in high school, the three split up to follow their dreams during college. Astrid attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in California, Emile attended a cosmetology school in NYC and worked at the Warren - Tricomi Salon for a little over one year, and Kimber became a make up artist for up and coming actresses in Hollywood. The three connected during their 10 year high school reunion and decided that the good people of Pleasantview were far too tragic to leave hanging high and dry. The all moved home and opened their own salon featuring full service makeovers.

Victim's Bio: Regina Merryweather. A perfectly nice girl with a penchant for RenFairs and Roleplaying. We saw Regina walk by the salon with what looked like sack of potatoes. We later found out that it was her purse. The too tight medieval get up did nothing for her figure and the harsh makeup was atrocious. We pulled her into the salon.

Emile colored her hair "Copper Penny" and gave her a chin length bob with piecey layers. Kimber went natural on the face with nude lips, shimmer blush, and grey eyeshadow, but played up her long lashes with lots of mascara. And Astrid dressed her in a chic red trench over a black turtleneck, a black and white polka dotted skirt and sexy knee high boots.

She left looking and feeling like a movie star.

Umm, Honey you can just restore the original neighbourhood (unless you play with Pleasantview)

You can batch-rename all the files so you'll be able to have 2 copies of Pleasantview, I think.

ESSA- For each round there will be two pictures required of the makeover and a bonus task with the team resulting in one picture(maybe mure for finale). As for editing, each client gets to grace a magazine cover for one of the shots. It can be as simple or as intricate as you want-The sim is most important.

Tash: Natural-looking eyeliner and mascara with a shimmery shadow draw attention to her fabulous eyes. A light dusting of blush and a glossy crimson stain for her lips complete the elegant new look. For her hair I chose to razor in some soft layers for volume and cut wispy bangs to frame her face and bring out those eyes. Fox, I hope you picked out a dress worthy of this goddess!

Nikki: Ok, I may be a rockstar and a Japanese-Filipino, but it doesn't mean I don't care about my fashion sense. I wear rock fashions but at times, I wear sweet outfits like my friend Akiko. Well, I don't have a shop but I do makeovers on friends for free (but in the case of my rivals in the music industry whom I never intended to be enemies with, well...). Ok, Jas is our Korean friend who is a member of a friends group named "3-Js (members are Jerry Hyun, Janine Da Hae, and our friend Jasmine)." They came to Japan to be tourguides in the Mutsu region (where we live). But one of their members, Janine fell in love with Kaname Kashiwagi who's grandfather, a big tycoon mistook her for his long lost granddaughter, Amane. But really, before Jasmine can see the whole romantic love story of Janine & Kaname, she needs a new makeover after her whole look got sabotaged. We gave her this simple, yet, fashionable look.

Well it all starts with me Rickaye, as I was orginally a one(fabulously dressed!)man band. I have been helping people with my flair for turning the ugly duckling into a beautiful swan since I was knee-high to a dior boot!

Understand the our current setting for default eyes and skin can remain the same for the before pictures. Also eyebrows and others better removed and then back in. :confused: Please forgive for asking, but I scrolled through the thread and need a bit of clarity. Understand the our current setting for default eyes and skin can remain the same for the before pictures. Also eyebrows and others better removed and then back in. Does this apply to default face replacements? Was not sure if they can be used in the before, after or not at all? Sorry if I am being a pain, but would love to put in an entry as this looks fun. When I look at a very maxis sim now it it very funny.


I have default face replacements but they don't affect sims already in your game eg Brandi Broke will look the same as the Brandi Broke is everyone else's game, also sims already in CAS aren't affected.

Hazy, its as you said . Id rather the extra cc's be removed so there can be a great transformation. You couls keep the skin and eyes but remove the faces and eyebrows. You could get non default eyebrows for the after pics.

I have a hood that I made specifically for testing looks, building houses, entering contests, etc. You can clone Cassandra (and her family if you want them in the wedding photo) and move them into your custom hood. That's what I'm going to do. *Try to pay attention to rules. It really bugs me when guidelines are set out and people deviate from them.
*Stay true to the fashion victims personality's. i.e Don't scank up a modest sim.
*Also, just wow me with your creativity. That's all.

* I prefer if contestants do not use thumbnails when posting their entries because it's a lot harder for me and maybe for some of the other judges as well. It just takes up too much time and the internet can be a bit slow at times so the pictures may upload slowly.
* Don't get carried away with the eye make-up. Sometimes too much eye shadow with dark eyeliner can be a bit much and actually takes away from the beauty of their eyes.

I updated Cassandra for the 21st century, threw away those Victorian-era glasses and got her ones with no-frames since she didn't like contacts.A tunic top and a pair of cigarette pants to accentuate her long and lean frame. I swept her hair up in a perky little ponytail - a hint of old hairstyle, some pigtails. Some minimal make-up - lip gloss and eyeliner - complete the look.

I know you said it's best not to have thumbnails but I had to get it really small to be under 175 kb! I have two versions of the magazine - one is big, the other one is bigger if you need to inspect close-up!

Well, well, lookee here, Don left Cassandra at the altar. Such a sweet girl too! I couldn't help but try to console her, but she was deep in a crying fit. So I took out an old clown costume I confiscated from one of my clients and tried to cheer her up. I cracked some jokes and did some physical comedy. It worked! I'm a fashion disaster (especially my bald cap and clown wig!) there, but I like seeing my clients happy!

We gave her catseye glasses for a chic look. Cassandra is a mysterious and quiet looking girl, so Ixhelle put on the Venom Lipstick (Withering Flower), from the oh-so talented Bruno. Cassandra is one of the richest people in Pleasantview, we put in some bling here and there. She's also wearing gloves, which looks luxurious and chic on her.

Cassandra told me that she wanted to keep her glasses, and style of clothing, but to make it modern. So I made her glasses much more modern and her outfit to look modern and fashionable. The makeup, I kept very natural as she doesn't seem one to wear loads of makeup.

What a sweet girl! Cassandra is such a doll and I absolutely adored working with her. We traded in her outdated glasses for a set of contacts, and I found a nice maroon shirt that looked fabulous against her skintone. All in all, I'm very happy with the results of this makeover. Cassandra is really a very beautiful young woman and I wish her only the best for her marriage.

Cassandra's wedding took place on a beautiful beach. The bride and the groom, and their guests, boarded a flight to a sunny island a few days before the wedding. The ceremony was simply stunning and Cassandra looked absolutely gorgeous.

The day of the wedding, we noticed that the heel of a shoe she planned to wear as she walked down the aisle was broken! Being stressed out already, she started sobbing and freaking out. Acting quickly, I grabbed some superglue and tape and went to work. The shoe looked great when I was through and Cassandra thanked me profusely. I was so glad to be a part of her special day. :lovestruc

Regardless of what everyone may believe, Cassandra wasn't fond of her original look. She knew the pigtails were childish and the costumey dresses made her look out of style. But after Don Lothario told her that he loved her look, she figured she shouldn't tempt fate and try to change. But after Don (aka The Scumbag) left poor Cassie at the alter, she decided it was time for a major change in her life.

We cut Cassie's hair into a messy collarbone skimming shag and gave her some deep eggplant low-lights. We removed the harsh makeup and gave her a clean, fresh look. It makes her appear youthful and in style. We outfitted her in dark denim, a black jacket with satin trim and a lacy white cami for a touch of femininity. We think Cassie will knock the guys dead wherever she goes. Don is going to be sorry he let this one get away.

Cassie was thrilled to grace the cover of SimCityBride magazine. She had become so confident with her makeover that when Don pleaded for her back, she didn't even bat an eye as she told him "No Way." With Don out of the picture, Darren Dreamer promptly proposed. Cassie took a few days to think about it, but quickly discovered that she did indeed have feelings for Darren that spanned beyond just friendship. So Cassie and Darren set the date, and we were there to help.

Not only is Kimber an amazing makeup artist, but she can paint circles around anyone else in Pleasantview. So as a wedding gift to the happy couple, Kimber offered to paint a portrait of the two of them. At the last minute, Cassie and Darren decided they wanted us in the picture too. This shot was taken as we all tried to figure out how to pose. Darren was stopping on Cassie's dress, Emile was making a stupid gesture, all Cassie wanted to do was smooch her new husband, and I was getting impatient. Kimber, surprisingly enough, kept her cool.

Cassandra realised that her station in life required her to also look the part of the rich heiress. We softened her look with an upswept hairdo with trailing tendrils. We also toned down her lipstick and eye makeup. She prefers to dress in black and I managed to talk her into a figure-hugging dress made of lace. Cassandra also had laser eye surgery so she no longer needs to wear glasses. She was very pleased with the results.

As well as being a personal shopper and stylist, I am also a wedding celebrant! Cassandra and I became such good friends while we were doing her makeover that I suggested that she use my garden for the wedding and I officiated. She looked breathtaking in her gown and veil. Marc is one lucky guy :)

When we first met Cassandra we thought we might have our work cut out for us. Her previous look was quite lacking in terms of style. We took her hair down, gave a good deep conditioning and a nice trim. We talked with her about her choice of eye wear and were happy to find out that she would like to have contacts. After acquiring her some fantastic contacts we gave her wardrobe a quick overhaul. We found this lovely outfit fit her quite well and gave a sophisticated yet modern feel to her.

Fashion Victom #0001: Cassandra Goth
Tash: Wow, where do I start? Dated hair, too-heavy eye makeup, super-dark lipstick... This was a project. Since she could certainly afford it, we talked Cassandra into LASIK eye surgery to lose the glasses permanently. She loved the idea and after a slight case of nerves, had the procedure.

Cassandra's wedding was so close she didn't want to cut her hair until afterwards so I settled for fixing her makeup at first. She loved the dark eye makeup but we lightened it up, keeping the catseye liner she loved. The dark lipstick she favored was awful, she has very thin lips so we needed to use lighter, glossier shades to plump them up. (Note: No surgery was done on Cassandra, the larger lip illusion is due to the lipstick I used :)) After the wedding, a shaggy razor cut frames her face and softens the sharp angles to bring attention to her fabulous cheekbones.

Fox: Tash did an amazing job, she is such a perfectionist! It took her forEVER though. We barely had any time to shop during Cassandra's appointment. Cassandra favored dark clothing and told me she'd like some color but wasn't sure which colors were right for her. She was also concerned about the modesty of the clothing, stating that so many fashionable outfits looked like they required duct tape to stay up. A knee-length cream skirt and long brick red halter preserve modesty but add a bright punch of color. I advised her to stick to warm colors when choosing clothing to flatter her coloring. She absolutely loved the outfit!

Wealthy Wedding
Fox: Cassandra wanted a fairly traditional wedding gown so we chose a strapless gown (no cleavage!) with beautiful appliqued lace flowers. To preserve her "Goth" style we added long white gloves.

Tash: In keeping with the simplicity of the gown, I did her hair in soft ringlets, no veil by her own request. Cassandra was the easiest bride I've ever styled! She looks delicious on the magazine cover.

Fox & Tash: We were stunned to receive an invitation to the social event of the season! After imbibing a tad too much champagne we grabbed Cassandra for an impromptu karaoke performance on the gorgeous grounds of the reception hall. I don't think our singing impressed anyone but the stray dogs though...

Cassandra wasn't as hard a makeover as I first thought. I knew she liked neutral colors, but she also needed a boost to counteract her somewhat sallow complexion. I was surprised when she agreed to contact lenses. Removing those glasses certainly helped bring out those beautiful eyes. I went with a very natural makeup, just to brighten her face a bit. She has beautiful bone structure, so I selected a hairstyle to bring out those gorgeous cheeks.

Cassandra and I became friends during the makeover, and she sweetly invited me to her wedding. I'm sure everyone knows by now that the wedding was a disaster. It's been all over the gossip papers how Don left her at the altar, so I'm glad I could be there for her. Mr. Goth dismissed all the help after that debacle, so I stayed behind to clean up... and just then it began to rain.

Yes this is Cassandra goth ! My stylist team just kept her in her gothic element and her pigtails. Instead of two tacky pigtails, a very nice and sleak french braid with a little clip. Black is her thing so it wasnt very hard to find something that would make her happy and HOT !!

Poor Cassandra was in desperate need of my services! The first thing I did was send her to the opticians to get contact lenses. Once that was done the bunches had to go! I gave her a cute bob, which is elegant and grown-up but still quite sexy. I have her some natural make-up and picked out a smart but casual outfit for her. I finished it all off with some eye-catching earings.

Nikki: Cass still wanted a ponytail so we came up with just one. Two ponytails mean she's bound to her old life and one ponytail means she's free from her old life so is now dedicated to her life with Don. (brrr.... he's hot when he takes his shirt off!) Oh, and she wanted the glasses off.
Akiko: Cass's favorite color is black so we decided to respect that. We gave her long sleeves that come up with a motherly figure for her future child.

Summary

Well, the Caliente sisters were a pleasure to work with. No, I'm lying. The backstabbing and all were too much, in fact it took me three days to finish their makeovers! Pumps were not an option, the sisters didn't even HAVE anything besides heels and sneakers! Killer heels, 5-inch heels, 3-inch heels, and sneakers (of course, who wears sneakers if you're not a guy?

I was trying to keep it classy, something that they weren't during my 3-night stay at the Caliente residence. I went back to basics with them, with Nina I did a simple Brown, Black and Blue color scheme. I styled her hair in a bob and gave it a nice dye in the shade of raven. Nina models a 3-inch heel in black, which finishes the look.

With Dina, I cut her hair in a modern style with spunk. I went with a Black and White color scheme with her, giving her some sunglasses to complete her 'chic' look. She's also wearing a cute 3-inch heel, like her sister. With her I tried to keep it sexy while not going overboard and becoming slutty like her previous looks. With her, simplicity is key.

Nina Caliente - redhead now brunette

First of all, I dyed Nina's hair a raven with some dark gray highlights, because honestly, red wasn't doing her any justice, and styled her hair in an oh-so-chic bob to complement her *coughcough* less-than-perfect bone structure. She likes to cover up a bit more than her sister, Dina, so I took a skinny jean and a cute top to finish her ensemble. I used minimal gloss and eyeliner for that 'casually cute' look.

Dina Caliente - blonde

For Dina, now that was a challenge. She said she wanted a long hair cut, but frankly, honey, you have a unique face, and a long hair cut wouldn't do you good. So she said goodbye to her frumpy 'do and said :howdy: modern, 21st century hair cut with banana highlights. I lightened her make-up - Dramatic eye make-up is sooooo last season. I gave her a lipstick in a nude shade and some eyeliner. To show off her beautiful, long, gorgeous legs, I gave her a cute short dress that's perfect for clubbing or casual. I also gave her some sunglasses to complete her look. Mission accomplished!

Redoing it again, I wasn't too happy with my X'Mas theme and all and I could tone down on the extremely bad photoshopping :dumbfunny Click the magazine for MUCH better quality, although I have to say it's not dial-up friendly.

Well, I picked out the outfits for the magazine for the the girls, and I chose a strapless for Dina and a fetish one for Nina and they grabbed them with glee. Needless to say their magazine cover wasn't very professional...

Well, I can explain this pic. Just as I was waiting for my payment on the couch, Nina leapt on me and said; 'Here's your payment, lover boy!' Before I knew it, we were in a heated make-out session. All hell broke loose when Dina walked into the room and saw us and threw a colossal fit! It turns out that Dina and Nina both wanted to have WooHoo with me, the erm... 'Hot Stylist'. Well, I can't say I blame them, I think I'm pretty hot to trot!

Most people here have default replacements, I think. I use default replacement skintones, eyes, eyebrows and makeup.

Task One
Nina and Dina were pretty cool to work with. Yes, they were bitchy and loved to gossip about they friends. But Me (Jasmin) and James thought they were funny and were a pleasure to work with.
Nina - Jasmin wanted to keep Nina's hair red, she thought it made her who she is. I (james) wanted to keep her personality in her clothes but make her look intelligent and mature.
Dina - Well Jasmin found Dina's hair easy to work with and style. Because it was a casual look she kept the hair and make up simple yet effective. I wanted to bring out her complexion with the blue bodice and denim skirt. It wasn't too slutty or over the top.
We think the makeovers look fabulous!

Well we both thought it would be a good idea to let the girls choose an outfit from our collection (just to see which they'd pick and then give them tips on what not to wear). But unfortunately they have the same taste and came out with the exact same outfit on. They ended up taking it very seriously and almost go into a cat fight, until James saved the day and suggested to Nina to wear something that would make her look even hotter.

I'm not at all happy with my magazine cover other than the basic idea. I was going to have them bitch-slapping each other and have the men's magazine say "Nina and Dina - chikfite!!" but I was really bored and did the whole Christmas thing. I don't know whether Maxim does christmas specials but oh well...
