View Full Version : Little Help?

Ok, I know this probably will make me sound stupid, but I need help.
See, I recently discovered a download that ended up having a default replacement issue and as a misfortune it did not show up in the game. I figured "Ok, if this isn't working I think I better make my own mesh" So, I first tried to download SimPE, but there were so many complicated files I couldn't understand and when I tried to open it, my PC showed an error message. So now, I need some advice.
If someone can explain to me how to get it working properly, (I know, I may be young, but technology and I aren't the best of friends) I'd really appreciate it. Maybe a SimPE for dummies thing might help (Because I am one when it comes to this kind of file):faceslap:
Anyhow if there's any advice or suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
BillieJean

Have you checked out the Create/Creating for Sims 2/Sims 2 Creation Tutorials (http://my.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=MTS2:Create) link in the top-of-page menu?

I have, however, it doesn't say much about installing SimPE and getting it to work properly (Like I said, I'm a dummy when it comes to this) :wtf:
A lot of it is complicated, and I can't get SimPE to run properly. I already know how to recolor using photoshop, it's meshing I don't get, mainly with getting the tools in and getting them to work.

I`m afraid I can`t help you with either recoloring or meshing; I have none of the tools for either installed. SimPE installed just fine for me, though; no problems whatsoever, as far as I can recall. Have you looked in the SimPE forums for help or beginner`s tutorials there? Edit: Oh, and SimPE takes what feels like forever to load on my system, and my system is moderately speedy; it might be the huge amount of CC I have, but I understand that SimPE is just plain SLOW for everyone. How long have you waited for it to come up? If it doesn`t, what DOES happen when you try? Edit: Oh, and just to make sure: You are NOT running a Mac, are you? SimPE doesn`t run on Macs. :(

No, I'm not running a Mac, but I had checked the tutorials out, and I can't understand a lick. I need something a little more simpler than that. Like I said before, me and hi-tech are not the best of friends, so it's all Latin to me. I'm a dummy when it comes to trying to get SimPE to work properly. Every time I try to open it, it won't open, so I'm thinking I'm missing something.

Link on first page takes you to sourceforge to download SimPE. It's not an installable version. Download and right click and unzip to a folder. Inside that is a file called SimPE.exe, that starts it. Personally for me winrar will not unzip an exe, I even have the full paid version. So I use 7zip to unarchive exe's.
Your also going to need .net 2.0 as well as managed directx. You may or may not need to download, I don't remember having to download .net 2.0 with either Vista x64 or Windows 7 x86. Go to the download page (previous link) and download both of those, they both install. Install .net 2.0 first. Your also going to need nvidia utilities, google it. First page is most likely what you need.
If you need additional help installing SimPE you should read the SimPE forums, chances are you can find an answer similar there.
The simplest and easiest tutorials are by jwoods, here (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=104795). You need to read those and go through step by step. Then if/when you get stuck you need to post for specific help on a specific step. A generalized "it won't work" doesn't give anyone helping a directional to point you in.

Oh, yeah, I forgot that I needed to install .Net on my old computer to get SimPE to work. Sorry. :| ::blush::
