I am having a similar problem--can't install anything with the download manager and the launcher doesn't appear to work now. My game also crashes now while loading, which it didn't do before. I've removed all the CC that I installed on the day I began having problems with the game but that hasn't helped. I went through the trouble-shooting steps recommended (deleting cache files, removing mods folder, renamed my Sims 3 folder and tried to start afresh)--nothing works.
I may have to reinstall and just start from scratch, which is exceedingly annoying.

My download manager has never worked, it always says I'm offline. I don't know if using a wireless connection has anything to do with it though.
I'm not sure what to do about the launcher. If you removed all your custom content and it is still crashing the best thing to do might be to re-install your game.

My launcher goes drama queen on me quite often.
One day I can finish downloading(window that pops up "cancel" or "ok") so that I can install many objects/package files all at once.
And many days it just finishes downloading process but it gets stuck at that window "cancel/ok" and I can't click ok neither cancel. Nothin ghappens. It just got stuck.
I uninstall my game but no such luck. It still got stuck after the process at "cancel/ok" everythime.

In order to better solve your problem, please go through the following as listed below:
Sims 3 - Installing Custom Content
You appear to not have read our great guides to downloading and installing custom content for Sims 3.
Game_Help:TS3_Custom_Content This link contains everything you've ever wanted to know about installing .package and sims3packs.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "download manager" (downloading from the Store, perhaps?), but to install stuff from this site, you don't need the Launcher. Either just install it manually (which means: plunk a file in a folder, done) or use one of the numerous other tools available. The FAQ linked above has pointers on this, or just look in Downloads > Sims 3 > Programs and Utilities.
