:help: I've followed the game help:game problem section exactly, but it didn't work. Besides, my problem is the expansion pack not the game itself. University was succesfuly installed to the best of my knowlege. When I try to play it the screen comes up, but in a few seconds it goes away and it never loads. I have The Sims 2 Double Deluxe and it works fine. My system stats:
OS:Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic Service Pack 1
Manufacturer:TOSHIBA
Model:SATELLITE L305
Processor:Genuine Intel(R) CPU 575 @ 2.00 GHz
Memory (RAM): 2.00 GB
System type:32-bit Operating System
Please help me :!:

In order to better solve your problem, please go through the following as listed below:
General - Post System Specs
We need more information before we can help with your issue. Please post your system specs - instructions on finding them are here: Game Help:System Specs
You also left out your graphic card model.
Could you include that, please? Or provide the full model number - L305-xxxxx (should be on a sticker on the underside of the laptop)?
I don't think this netbook/notebook can run this game+EPs well, not with that Vista Basic OS, and what I suspect is an integrated graphics card.
On occasion you might be asked to do a long FAQ - please make sure you do all the steps and don't just skip over them. You'll often find that these long FAQs have all the details you need. If nothing in the above FAQs fixes your problem you may post again detailing exactly which you have done and which steps failed.

Are you running the game from the Double Deluxe CD? That would be the disk you would use even after installing University.

Yes I am using the cd to play. I've already tried that. It said "please insert university cd."

I followed the guide and this is what it came up with:

It *should* be asking for the Double Deluxe CD. If it is asking for the University CD, something ain`t right. If it doesn`t work when you DO use the University CD, that`s expected.

I tried it again and this is the official message it gave me. "Please insert The Sims 2 University CD and press OK to retry." :wtf:

I have a question. Do you use the sims2 university icon to launch university?

No, it's not just you. The file is clearly empty.
thesims2medic, you need to post your system specs before we can help you. The file that you posted is empty. Please try again.

The archive isn`t *ENTIRELY* empty; it DOES contain an empty folder. :|
"I have a question. Do you use the sims2 university icon to launch university?"
I never have. Having started with Double Deluxe, University was never my "latest expansion"; Double Deluxe, because it contains Nightlife, is the correct icon to launch. Because University is installed, it will automatically be part of your Sims 2 game.
If you are attempting to launch your game from the University icon with Double Deluxe installed, this is likely the cause of your problem. Launch from the Double Deluxe icon untill you install another add-on.

First, University was the most reciently installed ep. Second, when it was installed, it was installed in ea games folder and ithas its own folder. it goes like this: c:/program files/EA Games/.Inside the ea games folder are "the sims2 double deluxe and the sims2 university. they have seperate folders. Also, when i launched sims2 dd it said their was an ep with no accosiated neighborhoods. does that mean anything?
P.S my spelling isn't that good, sorry.
you can download WinRAR here: http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR-32-bit/3000-2250_4-10007677.html
P.S you need Everest Home Edition 2.20.
Download here: http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Everest-Home-Edition-Download-16369.html
here are system specs:

Oh dear! I had to take a refresher course on the correct order of the Sims 2 EPs . You're right, GeneralOperationsDirector!
Since Nightlife is after University, thesims2medic, you'd need to start the game from the DoubleDeluxe DVD.
And er..no..I don't need to download Winrar or Everest to open a .txt file. You could've pasted those @20 lines into your post, anyway. We ask for attachments when the DxDiag/Everest report is so long, it disrupts the reading flow of the thread.
Anyway, you do have an IGP (integrated graphics) card. So to run it well, you'd need a much more stronger CPU in combination with RAM + IGP. Since you don't, read the FAQ linked below.
it said their was an ep with no accosiated neighborhoodsWas the DoubleDeluxe a new install, too? Then you would have fresh user files in Documents? If not, have you tried this: Game_Help:User_Files-Remove_All_User_Files? Or go back and try the FAQs from the beginning(Game Help:Game Problem).
In order to better solve your problem, please go through the following as listed below:
General - Integrated Graphics
The reason for your issue is that your computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements to play TS2.
In particular, you don't actually have a graphics card - you have integrated graphics, which is just a chip on your motherboard. Most laptops come with integrated graphics, as do some desktops; and while salesmen often claim that integrated graphics chips are just as good as real graphics cards, they're not.
Integrated graphics chips are designed for people who just use their computers to read email, type up documents, and play minesweeper - they are not suitable for high stress games like TS2. At the very least, playing TS2 with integrated graphics will mean the game looks terrible; at the worst, you could permanently damage your computer.
If you have integrated graphics, the other requirements - particularly minimum processor speed - go up to compensate. You can see the increases here (http://sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:System_Requirements), under "If you have a non-T&L capable video card...".
This FAQ contains tips on things you can do to improve your gameplay, and prolong the life of the integrated chip: Game Help:Onboard Graphics
This is MTS2's recommended minimum system specs for each EP/SP: Game Help:System Requirements/MTS2 Recommendations
Be aware that, even if you follow all the tips in the above article, you will probably have to upgrade or replace your computer to alleviate all problems.
On occasion you might be asked to do a long FAQ - please make sure you do all the steps and don't just skip over them. You'll often find that these long FAQs have all the details you need. If nothing in the above FAQs fixes your problem you may post again detailing exactly which you have done and which steps failed.

:faceslap: :faceslap: :faceslap: :report: My stupidity prevented me from seeing the whole picture. I was recently recording what i did when i started the game and i got the game loaded and i went to strangetown. Up in the left corner where you click to add a nightlife to the town and i saw a :new: icon that i didn't notice before that looked like a graduation cap.:faceslap: Yes, i know. sorry about all this, but i just didn't notice this before. Thanks for your help.:gjob:

You`re welcome! Very welcome indeed.
Incidentally, the fact that University was the last expansion you *installed* doesn`t matter. Nightlife comes after University; therefore, if you have both, you don`t launch University directly, without regard for what order they were installed. Glad you got it sorted out.
P.S.: "Also, when i launched sims2 dd it said their was an ep with no accosiated neighborhoods. does that mean anything?"
Yes, it means you haven`t installed a University Campus yet. :D .

My post...waaaay up there stated what CD you needed to use to start the game. Obviously this thread was derailed.
I am surprised that nobody took a moment to ask if you had added the college towns and downtown yet. I need to look at this forum more often. :/
It was obvious that his was not a hardware issue from the start, but a game play issue.
As far as the cars go, you have to set an 'owner'. If you set the teen to ownership, then they will drive themselves to school.

"My post...waaaay up there stated what CD you needed to use to start the game. Obviously this thread was derailed."
Yes, you did, and yes, it was. When you posted that, nobody had considered that thesims2medic might have been launching the game from the wrong *icon*. Getting *that* figured out seems to have been a confusing process. ;)
"I am surprised that nobody took a moment to ask if you had added the college towns and downtown yet."
Well, it was obvious that thesims2medic hadn`t added the college towns yet. It just never occured to me to ask about Downtown, though, and I still don`t know why we should have. ::shrug::
