This is the first year that Ive actually been able to watch it, got a stream online. My boyfriend was hoping that the new star wars game was kortor 3 but it was star wars the force unleashed two. The first one was kinda lame, but the trailer for the new one looked not bad.

We should be clear here, you're talking about The Spike TV Video Game Awards.

There is no parallel with the Oscars in the world of gaming. No one awards show has ever had enough industry support that it can truly claim to be gaming's Academy Awards. The closest would be the BAFTA awards in Britain which does recognise games amongst the other forms of media it awards but that isn't a dedicated awards show.

Add in that the industry is not US centric like film and it would take a truly world event before any awards show is considered THE video games awards.

Spike TV's awards are no different to the awards of any games publication. It is for this same reason that I find the notion of Game of the Year editions farcical. There is no singular authority. Every year about 20 games will get slapped with that title across hundreds of publications but that is an entirely different story.

Anyway the point I wanted to make was that awards like this only reflect the opinions of the media publication responsible for it. Not that participants can't be proud of the accolades they earn at such a night but the publication can only ever speak for itself.

I saw it, the trailers of some of the games were good, the host and all of the other people who were talking in the mic really sucked at acting and/or talking/hosting...they had like a 3 sec pause before every single word, none of it was funny(except for nick XD)and they had like no emotion...BUT aside from that, I fell asleep after they shown me the Skyrim trailer...lol

The Spike VGA awards are a terrible insult to gamers everywhere.

I think Jeff Green has made the best commentary on the show so far (http://jeff-greenspeak.blogspot.com/2010/12/rant-about-spike-vgas.html).
