Aloha :)

by Morague (updated June 18th, 2007)

The zipped file contains a PDF of this tutorial for off-line reading.

Both our knowledge & SimPe have progressed greatly since I first wrote the original tutorial on how to unlock the clothing more than 2 years ago!

This is a completely revised tutorial – it is much simpler to accomplish the task now. This method works for a majority of the hidden outfits, but it will not always work. There are some outfits that are quite involved, that require actual modding to unlock. Those situations will not be covered here. This is a basic tutorial for people who want to know how to easily unlock an outfit.

Make sure you have the latest version of SimPe from http://sims.ambertation.de/

Before you start you’ll need to find the name of the outfit you want to unlock. The easiest way to do this is to start CAS in debug mode, locate the outfit & write down its name.

To start CAS in debug mode you have to do Ctrl+Alt+ C, then type in boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true to turn it on (boolProp testingCheatsEnabled false to turn it off)

Press Shift+N in CAS to make the hidden clothing appear. Shift+M sets it back to normal

How to Unlock the Hidden Clothing

We will unlock the Techie outfit

1) Load the C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Seasons\TSData\Res\Catalog\skins.package file

2) Click on Property Set in the left panel, then scroll through the list until you find afbodytechie_circuit. Right click on it in the right panel & choose Extract. Save it somewhere like My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Working folder or somewhere where you can find it.

http://thumbs.modthesims2.com/getimage.php?file=552304

3) Do File Menu >> New, then right click in the big white space in the right panel & choose Add, now locate the Property Set you just extracted. Just click on it & click the open button & SimPe will import it into your package.

http://thumbs.modthesims2.com/getimage.php?file=552305

4) Save this new file into your My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads folder. Give it a good name like afbodytechie_circuit so you know what the heck the file is 6 months from now!

5) Ok, now that the file is saved, you can make the modifications. Click on the line that says Flags in the bottom, left panel & change the Value in the bottom right panel from 0x00000009 to 0x00000008. Click the Commit button. Save the file.

http://thumbs.modthesims2.com/getimage.php?file=552306

http://thumbs.modthesims2.com/getimage.php?file=552307

That is all you have to do to make the outfit show up in the game or Body Shop

Extra Stuff

There are a couple of other things you might like to do before you finish, though. You can change the information in the appropriate line in the bottom panel for the following:

Category

Everyday = 07
Swimwear = 0x08
PJ = 0x10
Formal = 0x20
Undies = 0x40
Skintone = 0x80
Activewear = 0x200

To make the clothing show up in multiple categories, add the numbers together. For example if you have some undies that could also be swimsuits, change the category number to 48 (08 swimwear + 40 undies)

Ages

Baby = 0x20
Toddler = 0x01
Child = 0x02
Teen = 0x04
Young Adult = 0x40
Adult = 0x08
Elder = 0x10

You can safely combine Young Adult & Adult, which would be 48. Some outfits can also be used by elders, so you’d use 58 to make it available to YA, Adult & Elder.

Gender

Female = 0x01
Male = 0x02
Both = 0x03

In most cases you cannot make female clothing available for the males or male clothing available for the females because you’ll end up with a gap at the neck. However, the child clothing can be made available for both genders or separated for the toddlers, if you want. For example, I have made the pink toddler pjs only available for the girls.

Morague

P.S. Sorry, I forgot to mention one thing about the Flag numbers - they won't always be 0x00000009 - but it doesn't matter unless it's a hat. Just change the number to one number lower. It's a hex number, so, if it's 0x0000000B you change it to 0x0000000A, if it's 0x00000004 then change it to 0x00000003, etc. Hats require 0x00000002 to make them visible. Generally an uneven number means it is hidden, an even number means it's available.

Yay!!! Someone finally gave an explanation of this :D Can't wait to try it.

I think this is more "General Modding" so I'm going to move it over there.

Thanks very much

hmm, I'm not a very Technical person, so my attempts would be futile, but I read a while back that Allan Akbar was after the Mesh for his sexy Outfits, he would probably do it now that there is this tutorial, I think this should be moved to the Tutorials section.

When I'm looking at the 3D ID Referencing File, theres no Commit button so the new Resource Node instance number won't save. :confused: (I have the latest SimPe version, I'm pretty sure. I have 14c)
What do I do?

Morague
17th Jan 2005, 01:36 AM
XionValentine - you must have missed something. This does work, I have tested it in my game with the postal outfit, the weeding dress & the mayor's outfit. I have posted a new gown based on the wedding mesh in the downloads forum. I'll resubmit the original wedding gown - it was rejected the first time.

You have to start with one of mtbeers outfits - otherwise it doesn't work.

Nemi - this is what the screen should look like. You click on the Resourde Node on the left side & then paste into the Instance Number on the right side.

Nemi
17th Jan 2005, 01:45 AM
Thats exactly what it looks like for me, only without a Commit button. Is 14c the latest SimPe?

Morague
17th Jan 2005, 01:57 AM
Hmmm, I think 14d is available now - what screen resoultion are you using? I once couldn't find the Commit button because I was using 800x600 & it wasn't showing, but when I switched to 1024x768 I could see it. maybe that could be the problem?

Nemi
17th Jan 2005, 02:05 AM
My resolution is 1280x1024.

I just checked the SimPe website though and it seems 14e is the latest. lol Thats probably the problem.

I've been wanting to do this for ages too. Followed the instructions above, but I'm stuck at step 5 as there doesn't appear to be a texture listed anywhere in Sims08.package - Sims11.package which matches the mesh I'm trying to extract (afbottomnaked). Is it possible that there is no texture for this mesh and that the game simply uses the genetic skin as its texture? :confused:

And what is an "mtbeer's" dress? I'm not a skinner, but I'm interested in anything new.

RGiles: After testing, this belongs with the tutorials, not in general modding. I've noticed while surfing the different forums, there are tutorials scattered here and there and are probably being missed by many.

Just typical. I was trying to do this for ages and finally got it to work last night. Of course NOW there's a tutorial.

Anyway, interesting that you can change the 3IDR of mtbeer's packages, I never thought to try that. Its an issue with SimPE why you can't change the 3IDR in other packages.

The way I eventually did it was by extracting the 3IDR and hex editing the instance and class/id of the CRES reference. By this method you can get bump maps on any outfit.

Shouldn't need to hex edit to put bump maps on them. You only need to add 4 lines in the Material Description, and that's editable in SimPE. At least that's what I think I know. ;)

One thing to add (Might be worth editting to add it, because it this post might not be seen)

The LIFOs are in Sims08 - Sims12 (maybe 13, I can't remember) depending on where roughly it'll appear, The name you need to look for is the same if the outfit varies male/female - The base outfit will be something like ambody[whatever], or afbody[whatever] because the mesh differs between genders. However, the textures of many are the same for each gender, and as a result you should look under uubody[whatever]. I'm guessing the u stands for something like universal.

Great tutorial tho... :)

LOL - I just figured it out on Friday :) & I know - there were lots of people trying to get this to work. I'm just happy that it is now available. There's still more to be done, though. I'd like to figure out how to incorporate the bump files & how to substitute the default wedding dress & maternity clothes.

Morague,

I'll have a look at the bump map issue. I haven't had a hard time adding them to files that didn't previously have them, so this I expect would be the same. At least... I hope :D

I'm having trouble doing this operation with two particular sets of clothing; when I reinput the resourcenode and shape data into a base package, the file then somehow is able to recall one of the original LIFO textures for the object and recall it without it being imported, but the result is an outfit that I cannot recolour or alter the texture of in any way and that seems to treat the already-present texture file in the image as a second layer.

I am referring of course to the "Super chef" work uniform, which was the first one I attempted to extract; I submitted it, then found out that it was uneditable. The outfit itself appears to have a reflectivity, though none is inputted into the package's material properties; might this have something to do with the problem I'm running in to?

Just for thrills, I'll list the reference numbers for this outfit.

afBodySuperChef_cres (resource node)

instance: 0xFFBCA264
Subtype: 0x22B63DCC

afbodysuperchef_untagged0_shpe (shape)

instance: 0xFFE139CD
subtype: 0x7C8EE3C4

amBodySuperChef_cres (resource node)

instance: 0xFFE71A0B
Subtype: 0x6C46E7EF

ambodysuperchef_untagged0_shpe (shape)

instance: 0xFFBE4421
subtype: 0x42FD3B7C

Could anyone else try monkeying with these numbers? I'm stumped as to why (a)it's not working, and (b)the results I'm getting are so inexplicable.

I think I downloaded your SuperChef, and yea, I found it kinda annoying that I was unable to edit the texture, I'll have ago myself in a few moments

Yup, it's working fine, editable and everything, I'm uploading it to the exchange now

Here's a different approach to the issue,
It does incorporate bump files into an extraction project, but uses TXTRs instead of LIFOs
Also, the original MtBeer skins aren't required.

The notes were made while extracting the Male 'Blue Swat' uniform.

1) Start BodyShop & create a new clothing project using an existing full body skin (of the right sex and age) that already has a bump layer. Give it a sensible name, i.e. 'AM_BlueSwat', and export. Immediately import it back in, then close BodyShop.

2) Find your project in your 'SavedSims' folder (it should be the one with the latest time stamp), and note it's name. Mine was 7f07e54f_AM_BlueSwat.package. Move it this to a work directory.
Make a note of the 8 digits at the front of the name - we will call this the 'ProjectId'

3) Start SimPE, open Sims02, and find the MATD file (ambodyswat_blue_txmt).
Look at it in the plugin view / File List tab. Note the two names - these are the names of the required TXTR files.
Extract the MATD file to your work directory.

4) Open Sims07, find and extract the texture TXTR (uubodyswat-blue_txtr) file to the work directory. Save it with a sensible name like 'texture.simpe'

5) Still in Sims07, find and extract the bump TXTR (uubodyswat-all-bump_txtr) file to the work directory. Save it with a sensible name like 'bump.simpe'

6) Open Sims05, find the correct SHPE file (ambodyswat_untagged0_shpe), and note down its Subtype and Instance numbers.

7) Open Sims06, find the correct CRES file (ambodyswat_cres),and note down its Subtype and Instance numbers.

8) Open the package you created in step 1

9) In the 'Packed file' window, select the TXTR file that contains the texture image (check with the 'plugin view).
Right click on it, and select 'Replace'. Choose your extracted 'texture.simpe' as the replacement file, and commit.
In the plugin view, change the filename to ##0x********!body~stdMatBaseTextureName_txtr, but use your 'ProjectId' from step 2 instead of the ********
Click commit and save the file

10) In the 'Packed file' window, select the TXTR file that contains the bump image (check with the 'plugin view).
Right click on it, and select 'Replace'. Choose your extracted 'bump.simpe' as the replacement file, and commit.
In the plugin view, change the filename to ##0x********!body~stdMatNormalMapTextureName_txtr, but use your 'ProjectId' from step 2 instead of the ********
Click commit and save the file

11) In the 'Packed file' window, select the MATD file. Right click on it, and select 'Replace'. Choose your extracted MATD as the replacement file, and commit.
In the plugin view, change the filename to ##0x********!body_txmt (remember to replace the ******** with your ProjectId.
Change the description to ##0x********!body (Do I still need to keep reminding you about the '********'s?)
In the Properties tab click on 'stdMatBaseTextureName', and change the value to the file name you used in step 9, but WITHOUT '_txtr' on the end. Commit the change.
click on 'stdMatNormalMapTextureName', and change the value to the file name you used in step 10, but WITHOUT '_txtr' on the end. Commit the change.
Save the file.

12) In the 'Packed file' window, select the 3DIR file.
In the plugin view, select 'Shape' Change the SubType and Instance numbers to those you got from step 6. Commit the changes
Select 'Resource Node' Change the SubType and Instance numbers to those you got from step 7. Commit the changes.

13) Save the file and quit SimPE

14) Move the package file back to your 'Downloads' or 'SavedSims' folder.
It should now be available for use.

As a bonus feature, I've also added a file to this post. It's an excell spreadsheet with all the id's and filenames for the SHPE, CRES, TXTR, LIFO, MATD files from the SimsXX packages.

Comments appreciated!

Cheers

Mike

Hello folks, I've just corrected a couple of mistakes I made when writing up the process.

In Step 11, don't use the full names that the txtr files were saved with, remove '_txtr' from the name. This may resolve your problems

I've also added a comment in step 3 about how to find the correct txtrs for your project.

Ahh,

You should extract the complete TXTR file, not export the picture.
Right click on the file in the 'Packed Files' window, and select 'Extract'.

It's exactly the same process that you do in steps 3 and 5!

Also, you do the 'replace' with the complete file aswell.

Edit: 24/01/05
Ignore this, cos it doesn't really work!
You can get one uniform, but it is not BodyShop editable.

To retain thread / reply integrity, I haven't deleted the post.

I've got the Super Chef cracked.

I started out by looking for the MATD files, and found two!

1st) afbodysuperchef_chinapurple_reflected_txmt
This referenced the TXTR file reflectionsparking-envcube and uubodysuperchef-chinapurple

2nd) afbodysuperchef_chinapurple_txmt
This referenced only the TXTR file uubodysuperchef-chinapurple

I also had a search, and couldn't find any bump files for the skin.

I had a play about with the first MATD, using the reflection texture in place of the bump, but couldn't get anywhere with it.

So, I moved to the second MATD, and revised my process as follows:

In step 1, I created a base project that didn't include a bump layer (I used the 'default' untucked shirt and trousers skin)

Step 5 and 10 - ignored 'cos there is no bump file

Err, that's it!

It opens in bodyshop and new projects can be created from it.

I've added the package to this post, so have a browse throught it with SimPE if that'll help you understand.

Dagnabit!

By "Not being able to edit" I assumed that BodyShop threw the package out with one of those 'textures not extractable' errors.

I only tested export and import under a different name without any changes.

Ho hum, back to the drawing board.

Been there, done that, got the (funny looking) Tshirt :).
The outfit showed up OK, but the Sim had wierd black and grey hands and neck!

I'm going to post what I've investigated tonight, just in case it triggers anything from any one else.

First I had a look in the shape file, and noticed that it referenced two shapes int the parts section - a body_refelected:afbodysuperchef... and body:afbodysuperchef...
So, I tracked down the meshes, exported them and had a look in MilkShape. The mesh had two groups in it. The one called 'body' just had the Sim arms and neck, while 'body reflected' is the mesh for the outfit!
I tried swapping where each MATD pointed to, but still no joy.

Sooo, I thought 'How does the name know where to get the skin info from?', and decided to investigate the "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Catalog\Skins\skins.package"

This package has lots of 3DIR and properties files, but unfortunately there is no quick way to search them. After shed loads of extracting, hex-dumping, and string searching I identified a couple of relevant files (fro the japan-black set).

Both files have Subtype: 00000000 and Group: 2C17B74A
Property Set Instance: 6DC09819
3D Reference Instance: 6DC09819

Both of these files have considerably different content than the ones in a 'standard' skin package.

Side thought: perhaps we should track down the relevant files from here and use them in the cloned projects?

That's about as far as I've got tonight. If I get any time tomorrow, I'll try incorporating the files form the skins package into a custom one, and see what happens.

I can't get past step one. After copying and pasting the number to where I need to put it, I click the Resource Node thing in the Filetypes box but it shows more than one file, not just a single one. I just don't get that. I have 0.14e of SimPE by the way.

Edit: Forget I said all that. I figured out what I was doing wrong.

Superchef uniorms
Has any one extracted / imported one (ignoring the non editable issues) that wasn't the Purple/Chinese version?

In all my experimenting so far, whatever textures I use, that's the one that shows up on the sim.

Don't know if this is what you mean (and I haven't updated the notes yet), but if you want to use the large LIFOs with my method, then don't bother with the extraction and importing of the full TXTR files, export the image from a LIFO, and import it into the TXTR as described in Moragues original post.

Right then,

I've spent loads of time on this, trying every conceivable combination I can think of.

The results have been:
a) A playable skin (not editable) with only the chinese / purple texture
b) Nothing shows up in BodyShop / CAS
c) BodyShop aborts when loading!

I'm tempted to say that the best way to get this one done would be to wait untill the mesh tool arrives, stitch the two parts of the mesh back together, and import the new mesh. This _should_ be usable for re-textures in the normall way.

Cheers

Now if you could crack this one I would be extremely happy. The female super chef outfit would make an excellent mesh for a Karate Gi. Unfortunately when I have been following your method to export the euro blue outfit, only the china purple shows up in bodyshop. If you then export, you get the euro blue outfit as the texture file. Very weird...

simsister2004, the file you're looking for should be inside of a sub-folder in you project folder. There should be 4 folders, Geometic Data, Resource Node, Geometic Node and Shape (see attached pic). Inside of each of these folders should be a an xml file. This what you'd want to add to your file depending on which file it states. So at step 8 you'd add the file in the resource node folder.

I'll try writing up a simpler tutorial some time since this one is kinda difficult to follow and the steps have been changed as SimPe developed. You don't need to use MTBeer's file as a base any more. You can use any file you export from Body Shop as long as it's in the same age/gender group as the one you want to add.

If not I'll go ahead & post it for downloading in the clothing section. I don't like to add attachments to these threads but this outfit has caused so much grief I really want to make sure it is now correct.

Incidentally while trying to figure this one out I think I have found a way to give bump maps to clothing that doesn't currently have them, but I'll need to do some more testing to make sure.

Thanks!

Hi Morague, how did you manage this? I exported the material definition for the china purple reflected from sims02.package but inserting this into my file makes the data uncompressed. I had just 2 texture images, the original and reflectionsparking-envcube from the textures.package and the file was working fine. However trying to create a new outfit from the original deleted the non-compressed data… I’ll take a look at yours and get back to you :D

*EDIT* Appears fine, thanks. However I've changed the reflectivity, stdMatEnvCubeCoef & stdMatSpecCoef to 0.03 on mine ;-)

Morague
22nd Feb 2005, 06:46 PM
Thanks for letting me know.

Because this outfit has that reflective part I needed a regular outfit that also has it & the only one I could find is the orange teen dress so I started with it. Then I changed that into an adult mesh & exported it so I would have a base to work from. Because that dress also has bump maps I had to make a bump for the China Purple outfit - I didn't spend much time on this bump because it was just a test - I just copied the original, made it grayscale & then converted it back to high color & save it as a bump. Then, using the adult version reflective base I just followed my basic procedure - importing the LIFOs, changing the Shape & Resource Node information then saving.

When you import an outfit into the game, Bosy Shop saves it in the Saved Sims folder (usually) but I have also found them in the Downloads folder. Basically you are deleting the first outfit package you made, because if you follow the tutorial, you make an outfit that you modify, then you use that to export a project & then import that new project back into the game - the reason for this is so that the thumbnail gets corrected.

I have winRAR and can do .rar and .zip both, but was wondering why the packages don't seem to work (file type not recognised with Body Shop) while the individual items can be updated without a single hitch?
Am I missing the point!? Sooo lost for some reason :s !!!

You will need SimPE or DatGen to view and edit .package files. Stick to SimPE since that's what the tutorials use.

If that is not what you are refering to, your question doesn't make a lot of sense.

I guess, the question would best be asked, what are you trying to unlock? Maybe someone already has unlocked the item for you.

Well I'm using .27 I know that .34 is out but, which I checked today, but I know that I installed the one I have after the release of the EP. I may try again with .34, I've only extracted one hidden oufit, the graduation robe for men as I mentioned above, but haven't been able to do the replacement part of it. So, luckily I don't have to go thorugh 1-15 all over again.

Okay, after installing version.34 it didn't crash on me at all, which is great. Now, I do have one question.

When you're importing the texture file there at the end before finishing up and saving. I see where to put the texture file no problem, but what about the alpha file. When I added it there on the left bottom menu where the file is listed, and opened up bodyshop. The mesh was replaced easily enough. But the texture and alpha files were messed up.

Now, since I did have the PNG files from it, I just removed the transparent background and editted the file there in bodyshop with the actual texture and alpha files but how can I prevent that mess up from happening again and not have to go in and re-edit them in bodyshop?

I do need help though in finding one of the three files.
yfbodyblazerpant_societyblack
it's listed as this name while in debug mode in CAS. It's the YA secrety society oufit for women. But after looking through all the files I cannot find it. I've found the grad gown, just not this one.

Any and all help is much appreciated, thanks.

If I was sitting in front of it, I could tell you. :lol: (I'm at work.)

I think the way you went with Bodyshop though was probably just as easy. A lot of the time, as long as the mesh is correct, I will just copy the extracted texture and alpha, and then make my own bump maps if needed, usually in photoshop, then overwrite the files in your project folder then import back into game if it looks good. The hard part is just getting an extracted mesh that you can change the texture on. Sometimes the game likes to override. As Morague explained to me, SimPE doesn't have a way to edit I think it was the GMAC settings yet. I forget. know, so I could be wrong. :lol:

I am currently working on am interesting combination of textures but If I remember tonight I will see if I can find the texture you are looking for.

I found a uyfbodyblazerpant_societyblack, notice the u, which wasn't the same name in CAS, in two areas in sims2 and sims10, the sims2 file is a tx something or other file. And the two files in 10 are both just the image (texture) files. I went into bodyshop and tried to find the same mesh, thinking maybe there is one, but the most similar one is the short top with flare pants with jacket, well it wasn't the right one, so the texture image didn't work on it. I can't seem to find the mesh to that society outfit in order to extract and swap out.

Ph, you found the uy version? the u as I recall means unisex. so it's both male and female version. If this is a young adult texture, extract it as such, then after you have a young adult version extracted properly (one you can re-texture), then import back into game with bodyshop, then use SimPE on the package file you create in the Saved Sims folder, to change the age data so that teens/adults can use it. I did this with the young adult cheerleader outfit.

There is a very good tutorial to help with that.

I did extract the texture files already. So, if I'm understanding correctly, there may be a mesh already in bodyshop that this texture will fit? I checked through all the female suit outfits but the pants weren't long enough, the pants just nearly touch the ground, and the collars weren't right. It may be a male suit?

edit: are you refering to the tx or something file in sims2 or the two files in sims10 which are only the texture files. If you're saying just to retexture the same mesh in bodyshop, I haven't found which one, it's similar a teen sportsjacket w/out tie in the pants but the top is more like the school uniform for teen girls in the jacket length. I've done a age/gender change so that's much easier than swapping the files to unlock the outfits. I still a little confused about this one outfit. Thanks in advance for any additional help you provide.

Alright, forgive me if this has already been addressed somewhere, I've been trying to figure this out for quite a few hours now, and my brain is a bit fried.

Has anyone had any luck editing extracted meshes? I would like to take a nude bottom mesh and add heels, and perhaps some cropped pants (going off the Maxis cropped pants mesh is HELL, and the toes turn out funny).
However, when I open up the package file I've made in bodyshop from the extracted file, it seems to be pointing to the afbottomshorts mesh, which is completely useless to me.

What to do?

Morague
13th May 2005, 11:19 AM
You can find the nude tops & bottoms bases here (http://www.variousimmers.net/vsimforum/showthread.php?t=317) Then extract the mesh for modification.

crechebaby
13th May 2005, 06:18 PM
Right. I got that far.
However, as I stated above, when I attempt to extract the mesh for modification (using Brianna's tutorial), in the first step (where you open up the Bodyshop package to find the mesh's Property Set "Name" value in order to extract the appropriate meshes from Sims06, Sims05, etc), the mesh "name" value is "afbottomshorts_blackshortstennisshoe".. which is the mesh with shorts and tennis shoes, rather than the naked mesh.
I've tried circumventing the whole thing by just extracting the afbottomnaked mesh anyway, and attempting to point that at the Bodyshop package, but I'm unable to get the mesh to point to the package, probably because the package's "Name" value is still "afbottomshorts".
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has encountered this, and am just trying to find out if anyone has gotten around it.

crechebaby
13th May 2005, 06:21 PM
EDIT:

I also tried to manually change the value in the "Name" field, but was still unable to get any of the mesh changes to show up properly.

One of the hairstyles is the male "hairgibs". It doesn't appear to be genetically transferred and the only way you can get it is to put it on your sim when creating a new one. You can't see it from the change appearance using the mirrors. The only way you can see it is using Boolprop with the Shift N in create a sim mode. Its available for kids through elders.

Morague, is there a special way to do the reaper? I got him into Bodyshop, but the recolored skin didn't show up. Also, after editing all the image files in simpe I could find of him, the original (boolprop, Shift+N) reaper looked the same in the game.

The Reaper is strange - I was looking at it a few weeks ago. It doesn't follow the general rules & I didn't get it to a point where it coule be edited :/

Ok - I have unlocked the "hairgibs" hair mesh - it's beau's hair style. You can find it at Morague's Place (http://www.variousimmers.net/vsimforum/forumdisplay.php?f=123)

Have a look around while you are there :) I've done default replacements for both the male & female pregnancy outfits & of course unlocked outfits.

Hi :)

A breakthrough - I've finally cracked the Grim Reaper! You can fully edit it & using the "hair" I did you won't run into the problem of the hair sticking through. I did both versions - with the lei & without.

First of all, thank you for all your hard working in trying to get the Reaper's outfit to show up!!

I download all four of your zipped files and unzipped them too. I then went into bodyshop, but alas they're still not there. I'm particularly interested in the outfit, so I'm not sure how else to access it. Can you let me know how I can, so that I can tweak it? I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thank you,

Make sure the outfits are in your Downloads folder & not in some sub-folder. They should show up under the Everyday caregory for either an adult male or female. The "hair" shows up in the custom category hair.

*blushes* I guess I'm not sure what you mean. Let me walk you through it and then if you don't mind maybe you can let me know what I did wrong?

I downloaded all 4 of the zipped files for the Reaper.
I saved them to my desktop, so I could run Norton with them before I opened them up.
I then double-clicked on them on my desktop and unzipped them. The unzipped files (which were for SimPe) were then on my desktop.

I tried to double-click on each of them via the desktop, but they only bring up SimPe.

This is where I get stuck, since I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to do something with them in SimPe or BodyShop.

Once again, thank you for all your work, and I hope you don't mind me getting technical with you. I'm very excited to get them working, so let me know if you can.

*hugs*

Ah, ok. This is easy enough to fix. Right click on the desktop icon & choose Copy from the list. Now, Double Click on the "My Computer" icon. You should see Drive C, so double click on that & find "Documents & Settings" - keep double clicking - look for "Your Name", "My Documents", "EA Games", "The Sims2", "Downloads" when you finally reach the Downloads folder, do Ctrl V to paste the file or right click in the Downloads folder & choose Paste from the list. You'll need to repeat this for all of the files. Once there are copies in the Downloads folder you can delete the ones on the Desktop.

It might be easier to just unzip them again. Double click on the zipped files & after you click Extract, click on that little arrow. It will let you find your My Documents\EA Games\The Sims2\Downloads folder. Just unzip the files into that folder.

It worked! I was able to play with them a little in my BodyShop. With that being said, I noticed a few things... One of them was that it made the back of the sims head invisible, at least in my program. I also noticed that after I had downloaded these, my other sims were missing the back of their heads if I blacked out their alpha area, and it didn't do that before. Any reason why?

Also, I couldn't get rid or even manipulate the reaper's hood. I was wondering if there's a separate download for his hair/head, since most Sims have that, in order to manipulate anything above the neck. I'd love to be able to see the person's head and face, but still keep the robe and the invisibility of the feet. I'd love to hear if you've been able to do that.

Thanks again!

Hi :)

Ok, I have a forum with almost all of the hair & outfitrs unlocked Morague's Unlocked Outfits (http://www.variousimmers.net/vsimforum/forumdisplay.php?f=63)

I haven't done NightLife outfits yet, but I will get to them shortly. If you can't see what you are looking for right away you might need to expand what is being shown. The default only shows the last month & a lot of the outfits were extracted months ago, so chose Show All or From the Beginning or whatever to see everything.

You'll find outfits that have an associated hat in the Hair, Hats & Heads category rather than Unlocked outfits as I tried to keep them together. so, the maid's outfit is under Hair, Hats & Heads.

simmygurl,

I'm not sure why you are having problems but I have run into other situations with SimPe Classic. Try using the other format. However, there are a whole lot more steps to unlocking the maid's outfit than with regular outfits because her apron is treated differently & because it is about 50 more steps I haven't done a tutorial on it.

I don't know why you don't just download it from my forum - it's already unlocked & it is unlocked correctly with the hat as well so that both can be edited.

My forum has almost all of the outfits already unlocked Morague's Unlocked Clothing (http://www.variousimmers.net/vsimforum/forumdisplay.php?f=63) Look in the Hair, Hats & Heads section for the maid's outfit & hat or use the Search feature to search for maid outfit.

Hello Morague,
I'd like to add something that I've found...
I did the Tutorial and This was my result:
It worked 8 times out of Ten.
I extracted the Maids outfit, Boath the firefighters, the Astonought, The shrink, The tekkie (Male) outfit, Bartender, the S.W.A.T. outfits, and the Plantsim Outfit.
They ALL worked exept the Plantsim and the Shrink.
The Plantsim had '8' at the end instead of '9' or '7' When I made the New Pacage, And I Didn't edit it.
and the Shrink.. Well I dunno about that one as The rest worked ok!
But About the Tekkie outfit, Its strange... annyway, Her's a Pcture in Bodyshop of what it loks like, And Its the Same In-game too.

Thanks!

I think I mentioned that the tutorial works for most suff but there are some outfits that just don't fit the format. There are most likely issues with the plantsims outfits because it is special - there are dual vesrions, one is the regular outfit & the other is called the wilted outfit. The wilted outfit gets put on if the plantsim goes into distress. So, I don't think you can mess around with them.

Again, the shrink's outfit is a special case. He is a special NPC & you have to do more stuff to extract the outfit. I didn't go into the special cases because they are all different & take quite bit of time to figure out how to mod them. These special utfits involve a lot more than just changing the flags :/

I'm fairly certain that if you put your user ID number in the CReator line you'll get the custom outfit icon.

Yea, I got a Custom sontent Icon for all of the Others, But The Tekkie Was Weird. as I showed above.
Also, I tryed a Hair. The shrink hair, as I know its avadeable in Debug mode and I realy wanted a Go!
It worked perfectly, Binned and everything, But It was the same texture for Black, Blond, Red and Brown.

Hope I've helped in some way!

I believe i could have read a different way of doing this a while back that i think would have worked if i didn't have University.... BS error...

but i do remember opening the same files and finding the same file i wantted but either the new SimsPE is messed up and buggy *which i suspect, due to the increased frustration i find when recoloring*

but when i extract the file i get 2 things
1. a .simpe file
2. a .simpe.xml

ok so i make a new package and put them both in only to find that after putting them in i dont see any textures or pictures like last time i tried this, i only see the file i extracted

am i doing something wrong???

PS. and can anyone answer y its alot harder to recolor maxis defaults in simpe this v?

Swimwear = 0x08
PJ = 0x10
Formal = 0x20
Undies = 0x40
Skintone = 0x80
Activewear = 0x200

To make the clothing show up in multiple categories, add the numbers together. For example if you have some undies that could also be swimsuits, change the category number to 48 (08 swimwear + 40 undies)

What do you mean by Skintone? Which category is that :confused:

dkwestman,

Those are all special cases - not an easy taks to unlock. If I have some time I'll try to get them unlocked, but I can't promise.

Treeag - that category is supposed to be the naked category, I don't think it's currently being used by the game. I don't know why you can't get the outfits to show up for the YAs - the only thng I can think of is that the outfits you are trying to make show are set to product 0 or 1 - which basically means they don't recognize YAs because YAs weren't introduced until Uni. Try opening a Uni outfit & copy it's Product line then put that in the PSET you are trying to change.

The plantsim outfit is going to be extremely difficult to extract because it has 2 different states (green & wilted) additionally it has several alpha parts. It is only of the outfits that just doesn't fall into the "normal" category. I have been dealing with some difficult family issues & haven't been around much. I'm not likely to get any time for a few more months, but, when I do have some time you can bet I will resume my modding. Is there anyway to do this with hair at all?
Because with a servo in your house, normal sims can utilize their clothes, which is great cause my sims can dress as servos, but only from the bottom down. I would love it if I could work out how I could extract the Servo's hair (which is their whole head) so I could complete the transformation (this would also require me to get rid of the face)

It is better to put them in separate files.

If you are unlocking multiple outfits, can you add all the extracted stuff to one file or do they HAVE to be in different files?You can put all of them in one file.

It is better to put them in separate files.This is not quite true. Putting them in seperate files only makes it more clear which ones you are unlocking, if you ever plan to share these. But since it is trivial to make these, and your tastes are probably specifically personal, packing them into one file reduces the number of files the system has to open, which is more efficient (and on Macs, avoids hitting the max-file-limit as easily). Therefore, it is better to put them in a single file if you are doing a personal unlock collection of things you want. Seperate files carry additional system overhead that will slow down your loading process slightly, so if there is no particular NEED to do so, it is best to keep things in as few files as possible.

NEVERMIND - Just remembered that Mrs. Crumplebottom did not appear until NightLife - Bleh! That would explain the non- appearance of the clothing in pre-nightlife games, wouldn't it?

My apologies. Thanks for the tutorial.

Hi,

I thought I had successfully followed your tutorial and unlocked Mrs. Crumplebottom. She showed up fine in 2 of the games I had tested her in, and I did a bunch of recolors - which again worked fine in the first 2 games I tested them in. I was about to post them to my site, when I decided to check them in a third game and ... they are NOT showing up.
Thanks in advance.

klaw444 - I seem to recall that the shocked hair needed some extra fiddling to make it visible. There are numerous items that can't be extracted by just changing the property sets - these things need to actually be modded & because each of them is different I didn't cover them in this tutorial.

I'm trying to recolour the default maternity clothing. I tried to find it in CAS debug mode, but it doesn't seem to be there - should it be? Has someone else unlocked it so I can use theirs?

EDIT - I found a buyable maternity file by Motoki on MATY, which enabled me to see what I needed in Bodyshop. Thanks all the same!

Actually, I'm kinda having a bit problem...

When I save the file (.package file), I put it at the Downloads folder. But when I try to open up in Bodyshop, it didn't appear on my screen. ...Am I missing something?

It isnt working): its not showing up in bodyshop. i wanted to take the camera off the journalist outfit and put it on a different outfit, since i am quite fond of photography. Could you unlock the outfit for me, upload it (just the outfit, not the edit. i shall take care of that :) ) to this site, so i may download it? that would help, since it is working for you and not me.
