View Full Version : Bridging foundation/decking to ground?

Is there a way to bridge a foundation or decking surface to the ground without having to use steps? This assumes that the ground elevation has been raised/lowered to the level of the foundation/decking. See photo for example of what I'm talking about.

I would like the beach pier to seamlessly start at the same elevation as the ground, but can't find a way to do that. Without changing the sea floor elevation, I've used columns (1 and 2 story) for the pier. So, in this case, the ground to pier elevation is dictated by the height of the columns. In the photo, you can see that the pier is 1 step lower than the ground. I didn't bother lowering the ground to the same elevation as the pier because it was pointless if I can't join the 2 surfaces without using stairs.

Nope. :) Foundations, whether solid or open are considered another level. So the ground is one level, and the pier is another level. And oddly enough the top of the first floor of your building is on the same level as your pier, at least as far as the game is concerned.

Thanks for your quick reply, HugeLunatic. That's not the answer I was hoping for, but I know now not to waste any more time on this. I knew there was something screwy going on with the elevations as I was building the pier. I used 1 story columns to extend the pier to the edge of the lot (less 1 tile), even though the floor tiles used on the pier are about 1 story higher than the top of the columns. The 2 story columns are used for appearances only and they show a grid for floor tiles up in the sky when in build mode.
