View Full Version : face retexture still pixelated!!!

I have been trying to fix this on my own for several hours now and it's driving me nuts. Long story short: I have done clothing retextures & alpha-edits before, and I decided to try HP's face texture tutorial. Worked beautifully. Everything was fine until I started the new project in BodyShop.
My skin, upon exporting, looks horrible. It opened in my editing program as 512x512 - is that the right size? I have tried resaving it with a larger canvas size, I have tried the wiki help and resetting the CSConfig. When I opened a new project in BodyShop after adjusting the game code, it still looked like a mess. I am at my wits' end!
The most annoying part is that I have not had this problem with clothing retextures. The wiki made it sound like pixelation would happen to everything, so... :help:?

If you are working on a skin or a facemask.... yes 512x512 is the right size. Which of them are you doing, skin or facemask?

That's Body Shop compression for you...
Have you tried importing your textures directly into the package file using SimPE? I'm assuming your actual texture file looks okay.

I am doing a facemask. The actual file looks perfectly fine, which is the confusing part. I don't have SimPE though, am on a Mac and I haven't got Parallels set up yet... is that possibly the problem? I saw an old thread that said there were graphics issues when using Mac, but when I changed the code in CSConfig, it fixed the blurry issue with other types of BodyShop projects.
At the moment I haven't done any photoskinning on the nose/mouth because I didn't want to waste the effort if I can't fix the graphics problem. I should be able to turn the various freckles and scars into make-up if the skin texture doesn't work, right? I haven't tried that before.

Sorry to resurrect this thread/double-post, but I am still having this problem exclusively with skins, while clothing textures look fine. I fiddled with *all* of the Graphics_Rules.sgr files, and changed all the settings regarding minimum resolution, etc. (Also, I noticed in Activity Monitor that BodyShop has never been fixed as a Universal app... which explains a lot, including why it warns me I need a 500mHz processor to run it when mine is 5x that speed!)
Ahem, tangent. Sorry. My point: I now have access to SimPE via Parallels, and I *kind of* understand what fakepeeps is suggesting I do, but not enough to actually try it. So can someone clarify the workaround, or point me to a tutorial that explains how to clone/export skin textures via SimPE?

Is this what you mean (http://www.sironasims.com/skintones-alternative-importing-method.html) you want to know?
