I have just installed the Sims 2 on my computer, and whilst a desktop icon has been created, nothing comes up under
My username\My documents.
Neither EA Games nor The Sims 2 appears; and I want to install custom content. I've downloaded the custom bits and pieces, and I know where they are; but why isn't the game showing up under My documents? And how can I insert the custom content into my game?
Many thanks :)

Have you launched the game at least once? The game generates your user files during the first launch.

Yes; the files haven't been created :(

If your game starts and displays the neighborhood menu, the user files have been generated somewhere on your machine. I suggest running a search for a folder named The Sims 2 created today (or whatever date you first launched your game). You should get two hits: the one in Program Files and the one wherever your user files were created.
I'll be curious to know where that folder was generated, so please do report back with the location.

What Operating System are you using? Sometimes I've had issues with Vista making User Files being generated in the Shared Documents folder, [or was it Public Documents..?] which took me AGES to figure out! Can't remember how I fixed it, though, but it would be a start to know where they have ended up :)

Yes, they were in some slightly obscure shared files! I was certain I'd checked there, though; I had to run a search for them XD
Thanks everyone!
