For the last couple of weeks I've been trying to build a spaceship but I've been having some real problems with the cockpit.
So far this is what I have:

(It's the ship from Firefly, if anyone recognizes the vague, vague resemblance).
What I need to learn to do properly is to slope the glass tiles and make it look somewhat like this:

I've tried many different techniques (and utilized the CFE cheat), but nothing I do seems to work. They either distort the levels under the cockpit or they make it so my sims can't enter it.
I have all of the expansion packs and the Ikea stuff pack, if that matters at all.
I have no foundations, the ship is hovering one level off the ground and the cockpit in question is four levels off the ground.
It's imperative that I be able to place items inside the cockpit once the roof has been sloped, if that's at all possible and to preferably be able to have my sims enter it as well. Can any of this be done on my lot? If so, how??? If not, what do I need to change to make it work?
