Anybody ever done it? It's something I've thought about trying in the past but I've never really committed to the idea. Or is it even possible? Is it like the townies who regenerate when you kill them off? I know a lot of folks don't like adoption pool sims deeming them ugly but genetics are no big thing to me. I'm just trying to figure out if this is a challenge I want to try taking on

When I played Sims 2 I used to make families with 6 good looking babies and purposefully have them taken away by the Social Worker so that they became the adoption pool and when my Sims adopted they got the good looking ones.

If no kids have been taken by the Social Workers, I believe the adoptable kid is generated when you choose the age (which is also why you cannot pick whether you want a boy or girl). They won't be ugly if you use replacement facetemplates. This pool cannot be depleted.

If you have kids removed from the families to be adoptable, they'll be the first to go. Does anyone know, however, in what order they go? First in, first out?

um i believe the the order they are made in is what it goes by- like if you make them in CAS child A will be before Child B and toddler c comes before toddler d, if they are born in the game, however, i have no clue

I think it's the first child to be taken away from the social worker will be the first child adopted, but I can't be sure. I remember I had 2 kids, Tom and Lyla, who were taken by the social worker - Tom was taken first. Another family called adoption, requested a child, and received Tom. When they called the second time they got Lyla.

I wonder if you can just create a Sim, put them on a lot, then age them down so the Social Worker comes. I might have to try that.

If you don't want them because they're ugly (which many of them are) then I wonder if downloading default face templates would work for them too? If the adopted sims are generated by the game using the face templates then I guess default ones would also work on adopted sims. But if they are pre-made then it probably wouldn't work.

Adoption kids are created when you adopt them - unless they were taken away from someone in game. There's no "pool" that you can deplete, it regenerates when someone adopts. And actually in the times I've adopted in the game, the kid usually comes out pretty good. The one time the child was hideous was when a family adopted a born-in-game sim who had a 1/4 alien genetics and the face/eyes was not portioned well (I can't stand alien genetics).

That's what the babby roaster is for.

So far, for me, any time my Sims have adopted a child, the child actually resembles them somewhat. One parent had black hair, so did the adoptive child, for example. And this was without using any hacks.

There must be dozens of ways to have babies and grow them up quickly if you don't want to deal with it. Why bother with adopting kids?

I adopted kids in the past and was never happy with the results so it kind of ruined the family for me. After that, I learned how to age up kids so I wouldn't have to deal with them when a sim wanted kids, or one was needed for a story idea. Or sometimes it is easier to just adopt one of the orphans roaming the streets and walking by your sims' houses. Plenty of those - and you get to see exactly what you will get.

Although, I remember one kid was brought home from school with one of my sims' kid. I was too busy to notice the kid at first. But the moment I took an interest, some do-gooder guest my sim had visiting, whisked the child away for being out after curfew. Never saw the kid again. But the street kids are all easy-pickings for adopting.

Yes, you can.
Once I had moved a father and a son into another lot for a photo session. The son was an adult but I had to age him down to a child for story-telling purposes. When I turned him into a kid the Social Worker appeared, just because his father was on the street and the child in the house alone -- or, that is what she thought.

Only issue with aging them down to child: If you use boolprop they start out with a grade of F and here comes the social worker (unless you quickly save the game, back out, and use SimPE to change the grade). Using SimBlender gives them a C+. But they still have the LTW plus they're rolling wants that teens and up would normally roll...even though they have the Grow-Up aspiration.
