View Full Version : Create a Grand Witch or Other Special Character?

OK, so over the summer I created some nice empty template NHs *fond sigh* And though I am NOT nostalgic in the least for Tosha Go or Komei Tellerman, it would be nice to have some of the special NPCs that the game doesn't generate on its own--like the Grand Witch and the Grand Vampire(ss). But, how to go about making them? Should I use the NPC creator tree? Are there special rules to follow? Just want to make sure I don't run off and do something stupid and blow up the new hood just as it's finally getting off the ground ... Any thoughts?

Well if you have Insim you could go to The Summoner- NPC- Witches then create either Grand Evil or Good Witch.

I wouldn't suggest using Insim- it's been unsupported for years. Grand Witches and other NPCs can be created in debug mode (boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true) by shift-clicking on a sim and selecting Spawn... then "NPC and Townie Creator" (or something like that). This will create an object that looks like the Repoman's gun. Click on that and select the relevant option. Grand Vampires, Mr. Big, the Diva, and the Dateable Slob are not NPCs but rather special townies.
You may not be nostalgic for Komei, but you should have some townies. If you get default replacement face templates, the game will generate non-ugly townies.

I've got the townies covered--am hand creating them in CAS and sending them out into the wild with the Simblender :)
Thanks for the advice on the Repo gun--I'll try that. Incidentally, has anyone had luck creating sims in CAS and converting them to NPC's? I tried it once for a butler and a maid, using the Simblender to "Make me an NPC." They showed up in SimPe as NPC's but when I tried hiring them with the phone the game generated a new one anyway. Personally, I'd rather hand create the characters with some family and background than just have a generic one spawned, but if there is no other way, then that's what I'll do.

There are a couple NPC tools, one at simwardrobe and one here by, I think, Sunni. I don't know how the simwardrobe one works, the one here seems to be a way to replace the uniforms. You might look at what those do.

It doesn't? The game has ALWAYS created the special NPCs for me and I have been using clean templates for years. And I also use notownieregen and other noregen hacks so those don't prevent those NPCs from being generated, either. If I want a custom special NPC, I just wait for the NPC to be generated (ie. visit Downtown at night to generate a grand vamp or just go to a comm lot to generate the witch) and then use SimSurgery in SimPE to change their looks (and edit other parts to make the appearance change genetic). I have never had the game NOT create the special NPCs so if yours doesn't then you must have something interfering with it.

What are you talking about, I have the Insim and it works fine, I have the AL version, I presume you don't know about that? So does Inteen
