View Full Version : Special Creature Sims

Currently, I got quite a few different projects in the sims going on and I'm wanting to take a break and actually try something new. So in between playing out my pleasant view 'soap opera' (have a bunch of sims in college i'm dreading to play) and building my own neighborhood, I want to explore other parts of the games. So I have some questions, since I'm wanting to get into creature sims and would like to see how others play. So here we go. :)
Do you play creature sims (werewolves, vamps, witches, plant sims, ect.)?
For me, I've never ever really explored them. They always seemed so complicated, especially the plant sims and the witches with all the different spells.
How far into the creature sims have you gone?
The only time I played was when I installed Apartment Life and I tried out those witch sisters and the plant sim family from seasons I played for like five minutes and was confused. Other than that, I've only ever seen vampires show up every now and then on community lots and the evil witch.
What are some fun things you do with the creatures?
I was kinda wanting to do an entire neighborhood with nothing but creature sims and have them live out their lives but I'm wondering if it would be a bit much.
Can/Do you crossbreed creature sims?
Like ca you mate a vampire with an alien, or a plant sim with a werewolf?

Re: crossbreeding:
No supernatural types are produced by breeding, with the exception of the offspring that can result from an alien abduction. Plantsims are capable of asexual reproduction (they spawn plantsim offspring).
Zombies and Servos and Bigfoot are infertile.
Werewolves and vampires and witches give birth to normal Sims, whom they can transform to their specific supernatural type through species-unique interactions once the child is a teen.
Supernatural types can be combined (e.g., a servo can also be a werewolf, a plantsim can also be a witch), though I have never done so.

Interesting that they can't crossbreed. That would have been pretty cool to actually full around with that. But that's good that they can turn them once they are out of the toddler or child stage. Thanks for the information.

I once made an all-supernatural Asylum Challenge.

It was HELL to manage, in the end I had to use cheats, but it was worth it. They were so much fun!

That would be an amazing way to play an asylum. Which was your controllable character?

Nissun, that sounds awesome! *echoes mangaroo's question* I assume you used cheats etc to make them in CAS or quickly change them into supernaturals?
I may have to try that - it'd be a nice little break from my ISBI household! :-D

I started playing with the alien, but the vampire was giving me trouble, and made her my playable instead.
All of them were made on CAS and then transformed on the lot, except for the servo (bought and activated there) and Bigfoot. I had to send the Alien on vacation to get him, and then start playing the asylum.
It's really funny, but almost impossible to play without cheats. Still, I recommend it for a good laugh.

Cool, cool. I have just downloaded treeag's sim transformer, and plan on using that to change the sims into the various supernaturals so I can give this a go! It allows you to spawn servos and bigfoots (bigfeet? :-D) too, so that'll come in handy!
It sounds like a lot of fun! I assume the vampire kept coming out of her coffin in daytime? I may just let the vampire die if my asylum one does that. Haven't decided which sim to control yet though, so we'll see. Anyway, thanks for mentioning it Nissun, I'd never thought of tying this and it sounds awesome! :-D

Technically, I think a coffin's comfort level exceeds the parameters of an Asylum, but I would make an exception for this. However, in my experience, vamps don't autonomously seek their coffins before they are immolated, and by day three in the Asylum, most Sims are competing for the 5 bedspaces available...so vampy may find herself locked out of her own coffin. I guess what I am saying is -- controlled or uncontrolled -- surely the vamp will be the first to go? I still want to do this, probably with MATY's zombie apocalypse installed to make everything that much more inconveniently awful.

Agreed. The last time I played an asylum nobody died though, it was very boring, I think this would be more fun! Though I guess the servo can't die? Can zombies? I'm just loading up the game to create my supernaturals - I won't be using MATY's zombie apocalypse though, at least not for my first go! :-D

I believe both servos and zombies can die by fire, and that's how most of my Asylum residents went last time I played. I've only played zombies once, but I think they had a hunger meter, so starvation also for them?

Ah, cool. I'm sure I'll find out! (if I can get my game to load propely - blah!)
Just when I have something I really really want to do, too!

I once made a Alien-Werewolf-Plantsim (I beleive it was all three.). It was fun as ****. (I don't swear, in real life or messaging boards.)

Do you play creature sims (werewolves, vamps, witches, plant sims, ect.)?
I hardly ever play "creature" sims for various reasons.
It kinda makes me sad sometimes because outside of the sims I love roleplaying vampires, elves, ect. and playing with "creature"/unusual characters.
It's just that most of the decisions maxis has made regarding this subject...I'm really annoyed by their choices.
Aliens - mixed feelings (I get a big kick out of mpreg though)
Other than looking different and maybe learning things faster, aliens don't have any special powers or anything unless you download a mod....so they don't feel that much different from playing other/non-alien sims.
Vampires - I'm disappointed with the decisions maxis made here. I wish they had been more serious with the vampires. Even with the mods I downloaded to help make it less annoying to me, I still get annoyed with simpires quickly...then I go and play with some other sims.
Magical sims : I haven't played very much yet. I have a good witch right now that I haven't played much with. I haven't played with an evil or neutral witch yet.
Werewolves : I don't have Pets expansion so I'm left wondering how fun these are to play. They seem like they would be fun to play with though. Hopefully maxis did a better job with them then they did with the vampires.
Plantsims : I don't have Seasons yet but it seems like plantsims would be fun to play. Well, maybe for just a while...I don't know.
Servos : I already hate how servos look. I'm glad that there are mods to help change how a servo looks. I kinda have mixed feelings about robots and aliens because I'm more into fantasy stuff than sci fi. I don't have Open for Business. I won't know for sure how annoying or fun they might be until I get that pack and then some mods to change how they look.
Bigfoot : Gah! Why, maxis, why? I hate bigfoot! There are so many (and much more interesting) cryptids...this is what maxis chooses?! ARG! I don't have Bon Voyage right now though. But once I do, it'll be war between my self-sim and bigfoot. Hahaha.
There, I think that covers all the different "creature" sims.
How far into the creature sims have you gone?
Not very far, right now my main reason for not playing them much is because I'm in the process of downloading things, renaming files (I hate it when people leave their files as just a bunch numbers or don't bother to add what kind of wall or painting just downloaded is...badly named files annoy me so much) , sorting through my downloads folder for the umpteenth time and stuff like that
What are some fun things you do with the creatures?
I love getting my male sims pregnant (via cheating or alien abduction) and seeing how the kids turn out. Hahaha. It's probably going to be fun when I make that evil witch and have her casting spells on npc/townie sims that I don't like. *smile*
Can/Do you crossbreed creature sims?
Haven't tried it...yet.

Alien- I've played the aliens and they are only different from regular sims in your imagination.
Witch- I have good witch that I haven't played yet.
Vampire- My current legcay torchholder is a pleasure sim that wants fifty first date and has fallen in love with the grand vampire. He snuck into the house the other night and autonomously bit her and turned her into a vampire it was kinda cool. I will be getting them married after 14 more first dates.I'll keep him as a vamp for a while.
Plants- I played the plant sim that came with Riverblossom hills for a bit I kinda enjoyed her. I want to make one of my own sims into a plant at some point. Their needs are very easy to satisfy which is pretty cool.
Werewolf, Big-foot,Servos- haven't gotten to these yet.
