What do you do with your Legacy Leftovers (non-heir children)?

Do you mean spares (non-heir children) or an overstuffed (post-Seasons) refrigerator?

If you mean spares as in legacy spares, I play them, each and every one. Granted, I've only done one legacy in my lifetime, I don't follow any score system, I'm only on generation four, and I'm addicted to "max motives." I just like the whole "get married, have babies, see how long you can stand one family" aspect. But I'm the kind of person that grows very attached to all of my sims, so I've let my spares get married and have kids of their own. Now that there are like 15 generation three members though, I'm basically limiting each one that has a significant other to one kid each. Eventually I'll get to the point where I won't marry off every single spare or have each one have kids, but it's not crazy unbearable yet.

I don't usually have spares, because I usually only let my sims have one child. :P I just find it too difficult having to look after a baby/toddler and then go right back to do it all over again. But maybe I will sometime.

Usually I leave my leftovers in the fridge until they rot and my sims become displeased with me XD

I played the first generation of spares, but I doubt I'll be playing the others. I might play them eventually or turn them into townies. In a perfect sim world I'd play them all but they'll overload your hood eventually especially if you let the reproduce. So now they are packed into a house together visiting the main house from time to time for bdays, weddings,etc...

I play them all. I see a Legacy house no different than any normal house I would play. Except that somebody always needs to stay in the house to carry the family name. My legacy is also not a work-> reproduce -> choose hair -> kick everybody else out -> repeat x 10 type of game while only staying in this house and this house alone. Also it's fun when your kids have cousins.

Spares can help with children. If I have a set of twins, say, a boy and a girl...eventually the boy gets married, and if he and his wife both work, his sister gets to be a live-in babysitter. I do that a lot.

The current Legacy I have, they sit in the bin...about 4 generations worth. In my pseudo Legacy of Winchester Isle, they get to have their own life.

For me, there's no such things as "spares." In fact, I often end up becoming more fond of the "spares" than the heirs in the game (last legacy, my two favorites were Gretchen, who was the younger twin sister of the heir, and Joplin, a crossdresser who had an alien hybrid daughter). I play every one of my Sims, let them get married, have kids, get abducted by aliens, and so forth. Makes for an interesting family tree, because after a few generations, I can see definite variation in the branches of the family (last legacy family I played, there was one branch that had a really distinctive nose, kind of like in real life-- "You must be related to So-and-So, you have her nose!").

I love playing with the spares from my main legacy, the founder had 5 children, Ben, Blake, Bianca, Bethany and Blaize... you can guess I'm playing in alphabetical order and I'm going to try for all 26 names (legacy will end when I get back to A) lol. Anyway, I'm playing so that the heir is the teen that most looks like the founder or heir (in facial features), so the Founder Alex's first born Ben was the spitting image of him! His brother and sisters are all now engaged/married.
Bianca is the only single born. Ben and Blake are twins and polar opposites, Ben rocks on and is always being social and Blake is more of the brooding sweep you off your feet sort. Bethany and Blaize look exactly the same (it's UNCANNY! and unnerving haha). Both sets of twins were natural without any boost from aspiration or hacks/mods. I find it nutty, as most of my Sim families (I would estimate 3 out of every 5 families) are popping out twins naturally! O.o It must be something in the water!
Ben is married and has twins, Cal and Cain. Although neither of them seem to look like him they have both taken after their mum! :) Although maybe they may take after Ben's Popularity aspiration, that Sim can be the life of the party.
His brother and sisters:
Blake is engaged and cheating (he is a romance Sim after all). He lives in a nice 3 bedroom terrace style unit with his betrothed. She hasn't caught him cheating yet, but I'm sure sooner or later she will. In the meantime Blake bought a hot tub and is smooth talking his way into his neighbours beds.
Bianca is a feisty one, I expected her to be the youngest child (but no her parents just had to have more). She's a financial Sim working her way up the career ladder and is always on the phone with her mum, and happily engaged to her teen sweetheart. Bianca lucked out at being the only single born in the family, I'm hoping she produces natural twins (if not cheesecake and if not then I'll force it).
Bethany and Bianca seem to be attached at the hip! They thoroughly enjoy each others company and are both family Sims. They share a 6 bedroom apartment (its HUGE) and are married to another pair of twins. Bethany has already had Coryn and Blaize is expecting. Blaize can't seem to stop feeding Coryn though and Bethany keeps talking to Blaize's tummy LOL. I think I'll be leaving their families at 1 child each otherwise it all may spiral out of control.
Anyway that's just my favourite legacy family spares, there are plenty of others, like the twins Bethany and Blaize are married to Xavier and Vince Jones who are apart of the 26 children alphabetically backwards legacy. Their father is Zack, and so far I've filled up to T (yes it's been slow as I'm only allowing 6 kids in the home at a time). Zack has had, Yasmine, Xavier, Wendy, Vince, Ulyses and Tobias. I think Wendy is engaged to Blake, because I think Yasmine is Ben's wife.
Anyway that's all off the top of my head and I haven't played them in a few weeks lol. >.<

I like playing everyone from my family ^^ Because I easily get attached to my sims and my sims easily get attached to their brothers/sisters/cousins/friends, so I prefer keeping them close.Of course, I will have to start limiting the number of kids every family can have ( for now, I think most of my families have two or three kids [mostly three kids], so the population will increase).
Well, I realized that if a family has only two children, the population won't increase or decrease ^^ And, of course, I won't be able to stick to that rule ( I'm a little bit like "What if they had another daughter ... ?How will she be like?I know!I will make this one more like ... " ), but there's always an option like "Poor X ... She died in a tragic car crash/plane crash/fire or had cancer and her husband was left alone to raise their three kids ... maybe he'll remarry now and have other kids!" ^^
Many of my families are divorced (John and Jennifer Burb divorced shortly after Lucy got married and moved with her husband ; and then Lucy also divorced, but she'll remarry) or one of their members had a tragic accident (Cassandra Goth-Dreamer died in a tragic car crash, leaving her husband alone with their infant daughter, Bianca ; so Darren married Brandi Broke and now their family is something more like "Your, mine, ours" XD ).My only fear is that every sim from the town will end up being everybody's relative >.> But ... as second grade cousins can marry ... I think I can continue like that ... ^^

Depends on the situation.
If the house is in it's own neighborhood and I'm using that neighborhood to only play the legacy family then the spares sit in the bin forever. However I do age them up and eventually inSim them to death so that they aren't hitting on their great great great whatevers.
If the house is in it's own neighborhood but my plan is to expand the neighborhood then the spares get played.
If the house is in an already populated hood (I currently have two in my BACC) then the spares get played.

I'm actually trying a legacy with four heirs.
As I stated in another thread, I imported Vincent and Naomi Moore (from Life Stories) into Sims 2, and created a custom 'hood, Bitville.
Vincent and Naomi had four children. The oldest is Vincent II, followed by twin daughters Kelly and Darci, and then Marianne.
Vincent II, being the oldest son, returned home after college, married, and had a son, Vincent III.
Kelly married Gilbert Jacquet, and Darci landed Malcolm Landgraab IV. Gilbert and Kelly have a son named Peter, and Malcolm and Darci have Malcolm V.
Marianne was a late baby, so she's an orphaned teen, living with her brother, sister-in-law, and nephew. I plan on matching her up with Cyd Roseland.
I'm going to see how long it will take for distant cousins to marry and eventually have one Sim who has all four Moore children as ancestors. (Why not, the European royals did it, they're all related, several times over!)

I'm playing the Test of Time challenge and I play all of my spares. I'm on Generation 4 and I'm just now, trying to limit how many kids everyone has. Later on, when I have a whole bunch of families, I'll probably age the other families up with boolprop, just so I don't have to wait and so they grow older, like they would in real life. I'm using the challenge as a guide anyway, not super strict about the rules, now that I'm in the roman Stage. It's all about having fun!

I started with empty neighborhoods, and sub neighborhoods. Put in 15 families, and play every household (one season at a time). All children start their own household, in a new house (except one who keeps the parents house), and all get played, one season at a time. I currently have 89 Sims (2 3rd generation). It was a bit hard to keep track of, but then, that's why I am making my Sim Tracker program.

I love that last idea; I might try that myself!

I'm only on G3 and really only have one spare right now, but I plan to put them in apartments so that when I'm playing one, I get to see the others easily. It's a shame you can only have 4 playable families in apartments though. I'll have to take over a couple of apartment building by the end of this gen.
