I understand that it's unwise to use the Sims 2 body mesh importer for an object file since object files do not retain a sim's skeleton. However, I'm wondering whether it's possible to import a mesh with a sim skeleton first and then import the object file over that. Would Milkshape retain the sim skeleton? I'm assuming that it would based upon my experience with age and gender conversions. Thanks for replying to my thread.

I think MilkShape should retain the original skeleton. I've imported obj files over body mesh files (when doing hair, for example, and I use the obj files as a template to get things in the right place). Whatever you import first seems to be what's retained.

sure, as long as the skeleton is there, you can compound multiple different file types before export. Sometimes i mash obj, lwo, and 3ds files together when meshing. As long as its rigged, grouped, and has proper comments before export, it should* work
* sometimes unforeseen variables may occur, save often and make backups at sensible milestones

Thanks guys! This information will make my meshing projects so much easier since I hate using Milkshape's texture coordinate editor.
