So I've been told to avoid welding

well can I ask is it safe to weld something and then unweld it?

If welding does something bad does unwelding do something bad?

BTW I check and if weld something and then unwelded you are able to fix the uv map with out the two vertexes becoming permanently together.

But was it really ok for me to do that or am I doing something problematic to my mesh?

Well, un/welding does have some applications, but only experienced milkshapers that know what kind of results welding will cause should use it.

It would take me, personally, a novel to explain it all. Perhaps someone else could.

But no, you haven't ruined your mesh like that.

You can use the weld option without to many problems but alot of meshes have their parts uvmapped seperated from eachother and welding the seams on those parts can give you a error when trying to export(or even worse, it will ruine your uvmap)

so if you use the weld option it is wise to use the modelcleaner when done.
The cleaner will split up your meshparts again using the uvmap as reference.(when using it click no on the popups!)

thank you

I sorry bloom base but I have no idea what that is.

But my question was basically answered

I already tried this mesh in body shop and it appears to be ok. But I have welded stuff in the past and I was informed that, that wasn't good to do and some one had explained why, so I decided I was gonna get cleaver and unweld it to fix that problem. But I wasn't sure if unwelding it would cause another different problem that I am also unaware of. I do understand meshing in milkshape pretty well but I don't understand the process of what importing and exporting does after doing all these things in milkshape so I just wanted to make sure it was ok to do that.
And my UV map is fine.

Also I am aware that you can't smooth a mesh after you unweld every thing because it will mess up the mesh. I was forced to weld because I had a horrible line that I just could not get rid of any other way. I had combined two very different meshes the body of a female mesh with a male chest because (its for a transvestite character) and I needed to make the boobs go away.

Any how I think my question is answered but if any one else has any other info I should know about that would be welcomed.
