I own the Sims 2 with several of the expansion packs. A family member is willing to let me use there copy of Sims 3, but I do not believe my computer can handle both. Would you rec amend that I delete the Sims 2 for the Sims 3?

As long as you have enough disk space and you don't try to run both at the same time, it's no problem at all to have both installed.

The computer I wish to put it on is a family computer, and I do not own a personal computer. Out of the 2, which game would you recemend?

yeah, i tried that in the past to see if my game would run smoother, but no change.
all it does do is make more space on your computer.

I liked TS2 more than TS3, but I currently play only TS3 just because TS2 feels outdated and I don't want to go back. If I were you I would continue playing TS2 until Generations is out and they fixed the most horrible bugs of TS3. Currently it's nearly unplayable if you don't install all the bugfix and story progression mods.

After you downloaded the Sims 3, did you ever go back to the Sims 2?

Well... if you play Sims 2 and are ready to go to Sims 3, I would suggest that you go and uninstall Sims 2. If you find out that Sims 3 isn't to your liking you can always uninstall it and put Sims 2 back on that computer.

My husband and I played Sims 2 until Sims 3 came out. He still has Sims 2 on his computer but has never started it up from the day he installed Sims 3 and started playing it. I was loathe to let go of my Sims 2 so I played both for a bit until it got to the point that I never fired up Sims 2 anymore. After about a year of not playing Sims 2, I finally uninstalled it and now I only have Sims 3.

Thank you for the help. Yes Generations looks like a really cool new expansion. I always did think that they didn't do enough with the younger stages.

My suggestion: Try TS3 first, Keep TS2 on your computer for a couple days until you decide if you like TS3 or not. If you delete TS2 and then you turn out hating TS3 then you're out of luck. I think the community is pretty evenly split (though TS3 is gaining ground) on TS2 vs TS3 debate.

Well my only fear is loosing all the downloaded content that I have from this site.

You can back up your downloaded content to a CD, DVD, or flash drive.

And, as I have so many times before, I am locking this "should I install TS3" thread because there is a stickied review thread and two entire subforums devoted to discussing the two games. If that isn't enough information for you to make up your mind, then you shall have to flip a coin.
