View Full Version : Creating my own NPCs?

I'm interested in creating some objects that will control sims and turn them into mindless NPCs, going about their tasks without having much mood drain (I've never seen a maid use the toilet in all my game play). Is that just done by putting a stop to mood changes, or is it using code to not allow mood failure exits? Also, regular sims can go up and interact with NPCs and then they will return to their tasks, is this done with activity advertising or some such?

I'm away from SimPE at the moment, so I can't look it up right away, but for the motives stuff you're probably looking for something with a name very much like "Motives Static". It's either a semi-global against the sim, or a flag that can be set, I don't remember exactly, but it's set through the BHAVs, and if you have a look at the NPC code you should see it. :)

Well, I surely don't know anything about this stuff, since I am a newbie, but I found various sites where people created NPC's so it should be possible, after all.
I made some npcs controlable to try if i could find something out about this, and i noted that professors at university and dormies leave into their rooms or into their lessons also automatic and that this action cannot even be stopped. It has a little blanc, iconless order-picture in the top of the screen. Though I don't know if this helps you.
Also i found two sides that provided new made NPCs; simslice and DMA. Perhaps when you download them and dismantle them with simPE you'll find the key? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! :bunny:

Well, there's Worker's Set (http://valdea.com/?page=1) from DMA Sims. Once you call the maid, they come and stay at the house all the time, they have a special NPC bed to sleep. The mod also lets you assign uniforms to the maid if you have OFB. It doesn't overwrite the regular maid, so I guess you can give it a go.
