View Full Version : Save Sim In-Game?

Hi, all! I recently started a game, and created and saved both a monarch and physician that I really like. You know when you just find the right preset, and everything just goes perfectly? Well, I went to play it ... only to find out that I accidentally picked the wrong throne room, and now my big, strong, very handsome, salt-and-pepper Sean-Connery-type monarch now resides in a pretty pretty princess castle. Obviously, this is a situation that needs rectifying, and immediately, but I just don't feel like redesigning the entire castle (and, if you've ever seen the preset I'm talking about, you know that it would take that).
Is there any way I can save my Sims in-game, using a cheat or even a mod, so they pop up in the Sims Bin in CAS? Something akin to the "Save Sim" button when you "changed appearance" via the mirror or "planned outfit" via the dresser in TS3?

Caitie, if you were able to save your sims, they should show up in your sims bin. Try creating a test kingdom and select the create your own monarch. Then check the sims bin to ensure that your saved sims are there. I'm pretty sure that they are, because I made some modifications to some of my previously saved sims, and the new ones showed up in the sim bin along with the originals.

That's the problem -- else, I'd have a copy of them already. >_< Just to make sure I didn't save them and forget it, I checked the "SavedSims" file under My Documents, and it's empty.

Caitie, Try this method provided by alexpilgrim found here (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=439390) in post # 5. Since they already have a profession, you can probably skip that step. The idea is to export them to the CO folder then place the file in the CO folder into your SavedSims Folder. I've used this often to save my offspring. I also used it to save some of the adult sim Guards, so it should work for you. Hope this helps! :king:

I attempted the age up my children the way alexpilgrim said in that thread because i too am desperately wanting to save a couple of my sims, but every time i do it ends up with the grown and now professional adult sims unclickable, which makes it nearly impossible to play the character.

BlindingEchoes - I use alexpilgrim's method strictly to save my offspring sims (and some NPC sims) to the SavedSims folder. I do not use the aged up children in the game in which they were born (i.e., I don't save at the end of the "Brave New World" (BNW) quest, so my kingdom remains as it was - full of heros' children, but now I have an adult copy of them in my SavedSims folder to use in other kingdoms).
I'm not sure how your children are remaining in your game as adults, since they should have sailed away to their own kingdom at the end of the BNW quest. If you saved your game, they should be gone from your kingdom. If you quit without saving, they would remain in the kingdom as children, since all the changes you made to them were not saved.
Are you saving a copy of the file that shows up in the Saves/CO (Carry Over) folder at the end of the BNW quest to your SavedSims folder? This would be the only way you could save a copy of your sim. There can be only one file in the CO folder at a time. It will be replaced the next time you save a sim. Once in the SavedSims folder, your sim will show up in the CAS sim bin. If you have not generated a CO folder and saved to your SavedSims folder, you have not saved a copy of your sim. That could be the reason the grown up sims are remaining in your game. Have you tried creating a new kingdom and checking the CAS sim bin to ensure that your sims have been saved?
Again, I'm not certain what you did to end up with the "aged up" sims as unclickable adult sims, but you may be able to make them "clickable" by using the Dynamic Professions mod found here (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=439543) and assigning them a religion.
Sorry for being so long-winded! :king:
