skill books missing when installed generations, help?

Luckily I still have a back up of my family, however, after installing generations, they can no longer do any skill builiding, am I the only one with this issue or are there others and any suggestions as to what to do. I have deleted all the caches and removed anything that was skill builiding......... the only thing I have is the content from the store and clothes, hair, skins that is it. Still when I send them to the bookstore no books on skills, go to the library no books on skills, try sending them to the grocery store, they just stand there stupified. Anyone have any suggestions?

Since installing Generations - I do have skills books I can buy, and my sims do follow commands but they have no skills whatsoever. They can do skill building activites and it seems that doing skill building is helping them in their careers, but there are no notifications that they have gained any skills and the skills panel says that none of my sims have acquired any skills at all.

Do you have that mod that allows children to read skill books? All my books disappeared at first, too. One of my sims even had an opportunity that required reading a book, and when I clicked to accept it, it told me something along the lines of, "It's not a very good idea to toss out the book you needed!" So I closed the game, took that mod out of my downloads (it's the only mod I have related to books), reloaded, and all is well now.
