Never done anything with sims 2 but I need to open a skin file from sims 2. I got myself simpe 2 and opened the sims 2 package files and then extracted TXTR files, but after that I don't know how to continue. How to actually open/view the files it extracted? (6tx. files.) Photoshop doesn't read them, so does some other program? Could someone help me out? :)

You need to export (not extract) the TXTR files, if you're going to recolour that way. (Is there a particular reason you're not using Body Shop? That will automatically extract your textures as bitmaps that Photoshop can open.)

If you want to use just SimPE, you can export your textures by right-clicking on the texture itself and choosing "Export" from the drop-down menu. I think that will export the file as a PNG... which Photoshop can definitely handle.

There is no "export" anywhere on any right-click for any of the files produced with my version of simPE. Only "extract".

If there's something else I'm missing, please tell me... I've been at this all morning, after a frustrating night of trying to get Homecrafter to work (and failing, I'm on windows 7, and have a long, long list of memdump files to show it's just not working). I read the tutorial elsewhere on making walls and such show up in SimPE and that's great, they're in now, but getting these textures to export has been impossible.

I'm using version .7-something.

Try looking in the plugin view.

Ah, okay there it is.

It'd be far less confusing if tutorials sometimes got updated. Obviously, the one used for the tutorial I've seen was quite a lot older than this version, many changes have been made.

Thank you very much!
