Speed Reader Mod

This mod alters the length of all books to 15, also increases the "fun per page" multiplier by 10 so all books are just as fun as if they where 150 pages. This amounts to a much shorter time to read books. Made this for two reasons... first, it allows you to get the "finished a book" buff quickly. Second, speeds up quests that involve having to read a book. Possible reason a person may not like this is if you use books for the increased fun while reading them. The increased fun from a book is only in effect while reading the book. So arguably, altering the fun factor is almost pointless since the book is finished so quick... but, its there anyway : )~

Has anyone noticed any bugs with this? Just "received" a quest book and it didn't go to my inventory. Reloaded previous save and received the book this time around with the mod still loaded. Dunno if its a game bug or a mod issue : )~

No problems here, I just did a couple of quests with quest books and they all went into inventory just fine.

ty, was assuming it was just a game bug since it didn't repeat the problem second time around. <3 Grim's auto-save, has saved me from repeating a lot of stuff more than once : )~

Sounds like a neat mod but I guess I will pass on it. I've seen so many mods to make things quicker, last longer, or not needed at all that I wonder what you guys do in the game now that the day to day needs are irrelevant or taken care of by 9am. I guess if you were just trying to get through a ambition quickly it makes sense but as a eternal kingdom player it would leave me with nothing to do all game day if I modded the game into simplicity.

My personal reason is I get more enjoyment out of interactions and goofing around in the game than doing tasks. From the get go my motive was to tip the scale in tsm more towards the traditional sims than the rpg style of tsm. If TSM had skills you lvl'd off the books, I'd left it alone. The main two relevant things with books and tsm is the focus buff and tasks in quests. Kind of like masturbation without a payoff. So, rather than sifting through the books to find the shortest one to read for the buff, I just made them all the same length as the shortest one. Would be just as easy to mod the game to be harder and more rpg oriented though. Give S3PE a go with the DTTB wrapper, nowhere near as much stuff to dig through in medieval as ts3

This mod is apparently made from the Books XML in the SASFullbuild2, which is the original stuff shipped with the game. There is a newer Books XML in the Deltabuild2 which has a number of new 2.0 and P&N books; these books are missing in this mod, which is certain to cause in-game problems and weirdness.

I'm pretty sure it's causing the village shop to malfunction, showing a blank menu.

ty shimrod, I'll have to add those in when I get time later on. Started the new job and haven't been fooling with modding past few days. Haven't noticed any books taking the usual time to read yet, but still haven't played all the way through the game with the mod. Haven't had any issues with the shop, but see that others have ran into issues. I'll fix this later tonight, expect the new download to be up before 6am tomorrow : )~ Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

I rarely go to the village shop so I almost didn't catch it. For now, I've forbidden bookcases in my kingdom. All people caught reading, shall have their eyes plucked out and made into jelly for the Ogres. and by Ogres, I mean the people of Crafthole.

I'm using this mod and notice no problems in my game or missing books.
