I love this idea. I find it very difficult to make interesting looking sims, especially without CC. So, it's nice that you've included some no-cc categories.

Pity you have the ban on all the non-ear sliders, or I'd contribute.

Agreed with moryrie. I always use facial sliders for my simmies with a nice little warning for those that download. Poo.
But I like what you're doing Sookielee.

I used to search for CC-free sims when I were new to the game and scared of CC-related error, now armed with Delphy Dashboard, I have officially become a happy CC-addict. :king:

But, player made sims ARE custom content. Therefore, if I think that custom content is bad, why would I want to download your custom content sims, and wreck my game?
Like it or not, anyone making sims IS making custom content.
Besides, why would you be promoting this on a site dedicated to the creation of custom content?

HPG, they are asking for CC-free sims in order to keep compatibility and to reach a wider audience: for example, I avoid downloading sims that need sliders, and lots that require CC.
What sounds more practical to you? That in order to keep a sims' looks you need to download a dozen sliders and CC or simply the .sim file and that's it? Now extrapolate this issue with over a hundred sims, in case you want to populate a whole neighborhood.

My apology for announcing this here. Mod, please feel free to close/delete this thread. I was just trying to get more people to contribute to this project and did not intent to offend or cause issues.
TinTin: Thanks for explaining so well why we are not allowing sliders and want some categories cc-free.

What about ugly sims? I can only make really unfortunate looking sims.

What I am saying is there is no such thing as a CC free sim. By definition, non EA sims ARE cc. It says so right in the file description:

The no cc prohibition went far beyond sliders, but would also include things like hair, clothing and accessories. Besides, I don't know how you would package sliders with a sim.
All in all, this exclusion of custom content is a real slap in the face to all of the talented creators who upload custom content to this site.

Wow, way to pick nits. And, Dude, it's hardly a slap in the face. If it was, then MTS wouldn't accept lots and Sims that don't use additional CC. But they do, and they even allow you to put 'No CC required' on the title of the download.
The point of the project is to have an easily accessible stock of Sims people can plop into unpopulated worlds. Having them free of additional CC makes them accessible to everyone, without making people go around collecting all the required CC hair and clothes required for every Sim.

This is a cool idea. I’ve always wanted a site/project like this. However, I have to say, I was really disappointed that the sims can’t be made with the slider hacks. I definitely see why you won’t allow custom skins, hair, clothes or CC like that. (Those can easily be added later by the player anyway.) But, a ton of people absolutely hate the basic sims 3 face. For a lot of people, sliders are a basic necessity to play the game, and there is no point downloading a bunch of sims that were made without them. So, I think you’re actually limiting the amount of people who can download sims. Plus, it’s not like there are a million sliders available, everyone who uses them probably has the same ones.
Just my two cents. Obviously, you’re the one doing all the work, so it’s your decision.

Maybe.. since you have a bunch of sub forums already, you could include 2 more? One that is slider-hack+additional slider friendly but otherwise CC free, and one that is sliderhack+additional sliders+ cc friendly. Anyone using sliders will obviously list all the ones they are using +links in the download thread.
I'd totally frequent the first of my proposed ones. I really like looking for new sim templates that I can tweak. I understand how you don't want people to be using CC here as it certainly can be a pain to download, but I also think that sliders are different because, as aUserName pointed out, there are not a whole lot of them, and most people use the same ones. Simmers like TinTin can easily avoid those two forums, and stick with the others.

This sounds like a great idea, Sookielee! It will be a big help to players of custom worlds.

zzapp the witch: yes ugly sims are welcome.
Thanks to those of you that have been positive and have tried to defend this idea. It means a lot to me.
To those that do not like the fact that the sims can't use slider hacks: There are several different slider hacks available for download none have become the standard one used unlike CmarNY's ear slider. I do not wish to select one over the other, as I do not use them in my game and would not feel comfortable choosing one persons over another. Allowing free reign to use anything a person wants defeats the purpose of the project.
My main goal in starting this was to have a place that is not EA, where anyone can get numerous sims for an empty world. I understand the MTS is about custom content and apologize for posting an announcement here as it appears I have offended some of you and caused problems.
Moderator please delete or close thread. It appears I was in the wrong posting this here.
