View Full Version : Curious about raised lot edges (see photos)

In Sims 2 someone had told me that doing this would put a tear in the file, or something like that. Aside from it being unsightly, is there anything about the lot edges like this that would not be suitable for uploading/downloading on a site? Thanks.

I haven't observed any problems, aside from being rather ugly. That said, anything uploaded to MTS should be on a lot that's completely flat near the edges, so any terrain variation would be in the middle of the lot, away from the edges.
Even if you upload somewhere else, flat lot edges are still a good idea, regardless of policy.

Yeah, I know...call me a rebel =) I was going to specify the lot site to place it on (the one I used), if that'd help.

I like to be a rebel too sometimes lol, curious about your lot now. Will you be uploading it here? I wouldn't dear saying what the moderator might think. Specifying the lot might help though.
You could try sending a question to creator issues.

If there's a good reason for the lot being wonky on the edges and it's meant to fit in a specific spot (like the cliffs area sorta near the beach in Sunset Valley) then it's fine - you just need to say quite clearly that the edges of the lot are not level, so people don't go and try to put it somewhere else and then get confused.

Ah, well, that makes sense. No, I wasn't planning on uploading here...hope that's not being rude, asking for input =)
So, there's no real technical issue with the lot edges as they are? Or does the "being in a specific area" nullify that?

The shape of the lot edges need to closely match where it's supposed to go in the end; if it's one of those cliff lots that I mentioned from Sunset Valley, then you need to put it either in that same spot in the world or somewhere very similar in another world. If you build on a flat spot, then the lot should be put on a flat spot too. AFAIK, it won't mess up the terrain permanently like in TS2, but it won't really look right if placed in the wrong spot.
