At this rate my Sim lady will be too old to have a child...why is it taking so long to be able to propose? It's also taking forever to find out her long term boyfriend's traits..I only know one so far (vegetarian) and that was a long time coming.
I think he may also be a slob. (keeps burping and I think he might have gone outside at one point to pee..lol).
Could is be he is 'commitment phobic' so I will not get the option to marry her to him? They have dated and woo hooed and hung out numerous times.
Just wondering if anyone had this issue, also.

Did you try asking him to stay the night? Sometimes I notice that the propose option will only appear after I do that, and then get the 'extremely irresistable' relationship going.

Yes, he's stayed the night, granted in the sleeping bag...lol...Mom and daughter share a room. The only other bed is a sleeping bag for the boyfriend.
I will keep at it and see what happens. Thanks for the reply, Simsample.

It isnt like sims 2, they have to be romantic for a while (at once) before they can do it. They must say you are "alluring".

That's correct. You have to turn them on first and when they're weak in the knees, go for the kill. I mean, pop the question.

I can't get the proposal option at all since reinstalling when pets came out. I've done the song-and-dance routine of romantic interactions many, many times and still no proposal option. So my sims live in sin.

I wish there was a mod to make it like Sims 2 where you could use any interaction whenever you wanted.

I wish there was a mod to make the Sims 3 exactly like the Sims 2 except with CAST, body sliders and beautiful scenery. I wish we could all get along like we used to in middle school. I wish I could bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles and everyone would eat and be happy.
I don't go to this school, I just have a lot of feelings.

That wasn't the case at all in TS2. Every interaction had a whole host of preconditions, including but not limited to mood, personality, and daily and lifetime relationship scores.
Basically what TS3 did was replace the dual relationship system TS2 had with a different dual relationship system. It still has a short-term and long-term component, but instead of a continuous but fast-decaying daily (decays quickly) and lifetime (moves slowly towards daily), we have the interaction-based system which is divided into distinct steps.
Aside from the difference in how the short and long term relationship scales are displayed, the only real difference is that in the TS3 system, the "short term relationship" score is much shorter-term: over the course of a single series of interactions of the same type, rather than a day.

I think the whole romantic-mood thing is the most annoying thing in the entire game :|

It's should say "<Sim's name> is very aroused" or something like that in the top left corner for the interaction to become possible. (Sorry, can't remember what it says exactly)

I know, but if your relationship was high enough you could do stuff like propose at any time without talking forever about stuff. I want to do that. :) They replace "daily relationship" with the talky thing in the corner of the screen, I guess.

I've decided to get rid of her boyfriend. They were not progressing anywhere...he was a slob and kind of ugly, too. (in my game he's named Milton Tong, a townie). Now she has a new guy interested in her-Jasper Sherwood (I think that's his name). He was more responsive so I am hoping they can wind up together--he's more charming and handsome.
