Since there's a few "spoof" Occupy pages on Facebook like Legoland,Disney World, & Sesame Street, why not collaborate and do an Occupy Sims 3, or an Occupy page for each of the game's towns? We have sims that protest at City Hall in each town, right? There's a start. Maybe focus on things from a sims point of view towards the players.

Occupy? I haven't seen those. Could you explain a little?

In the US there is an Occupy Wallstreet (and various cites) movement of peaceful protests (most of the time) protesting the way the government is running the country and the prioritizing the rich over the poor and the shrinking middle class.

I know there are spoofs out there, but how would a player "Spoof" that in the game?

I think they (OP) are considering a Facebook page that mirrors the other parody ones they've seen. I haven't gone looking, so I don't know if it exists. If it's well done, it would be funny though :D.

You could start a FSBS site or blog.

Well, look at the Occupy Legoland spoof page on Facebook for inspiration. The creator of each town's page could address the concerns of the sim residents regarding players & whatnot. For example:

Agnes Crumplebottom stated she was sitting at home last night when it seemed like time froze & she couldn't move. She then claims to have witnessed a entire wall in her home just vanish, and new stereo popped into existence in midair and settled down in the spot where the wall once resided. The mayor of Sunset Valley has stated he has heard similar reports coming in from all over the town.

Make sense now?

I love my Sim people dearly and I am certain they love humans. But even with a vigorous FSBS campaign, consciousness-raising among the Sims may require a lot of patience --

It's an international movement.

Set up tents or sleeping bags in the parks and have them occupy the area. It's simple.

Because stupid lazy people are not exclusive to the USA.

No, because exorbitant and continually growing income inequality is not exclusive to the USA.

Neither are completely ignorant know-nothings. You might want to look at the wealth disparity between the top 1% and the rest of the globe, before you spout nonsense. If you don't understand what you're talking about, then you'd be well advised to read up before speaking out.

I'm not sure what to click here. I disagree with your characterization of the movement, but clicking "Disagree" wouldn't be precisely right because I don't want to say that stupid lazy people are exclusive to the USA. I can agree that a great many of the rich in that country do seem to whine incessantly about how downtrodden they are at the hands of the supposedly socialist government under which they've amassed their wealth, and how hard their lives are because of their workers and customers. However, you're right in saying that the behaviour is not exclusive to one country or another.

The point being made was definitely about the movement rather than national stereotypes.

First of all a spoof or even a serious parrallel done with the sims 3 would be lovely. If done in a more serious or a spoof way it could make a point or a counter point.
Second
Because stupid lazy people are not exclusive to the USA.
This statement is not a fair assesment of what the occupy movement is ment to be its not about people not working in order to protest its about the govenment not being able to adress flaws in the system without extream measures and while some people feel those participating are lazy because they are not working I say that those who are peacefully protesting might be doing the right thing. Peaceful protesting is one of the best ways to get mass attention to a subject and its so much more affective than petitions and other means of getting the govenments attention. And to say what these people are doing is LAZY or EASY is hardly accurate living out of a tent for several weeks and eating box food and things you can make with a battery power hot plate is hardly easy. I like to see you try.

OK guys... Occupy Wall Street (etc) is a political movement, and there is no way to have a discussion about its merits that is not a political discussion. Feel free to have such a discussion in the Debate Room. As far as this thread goes, please keep it on topic... relating to the OP's suggestion... or it will be locked :)

Ohh and you could pretend city hall is the federal reserve and sims can protest outside of it additionally.

A lot of it could be done by placing city hall on a VERY large lot that includes town square and a few other buildings then placing sleeping bags you coulld make the lot a park or other venue then have a party. And a Picket sin accesory wouldn't be too hard to make. In fact they may already exist. anyway from there it would be all about good staging.

If you "throw party at..." such a lot, can it attract foot traffic so we end up with more Sims than we'd get from the invitation list alone? Or will they not come because the venue is "reserved for a party" or some such thing? It would be nice to be able to get the invited ones plus the roving mob that shows up by coincidence whenever you visit the town common.

^ As long as you don't click the "Exclusive Reserve" (or whatever) box you should get uninvited sims.

This movement is absolutely crucial and just. If young people are made aware of what is happening because of this message board, then that is fantastic. Some people may never enter into the "debate room." I've never even heard of such a room before. The occupy movement should have a home anywhere we find it.

Some things are too important.

JRD7 My question is this when it comes to the occupy movement.. What is their central message.. People like me would support even joinj the movement if their were a clear message. Which seems at this point to be lacking.

Debate room: http://www.modthesims.info/forumdisplay.php?f=575

Which is part of the General Discussion area, under Community, which is for all things non-Sims-related. Whereas this forum is for Sims-related topics. This thread started off Sims-related, and it would be a shame to get it locked because it went too far off-topic, right? :)

Not trying to shut down any discussion here, just keep it sorted out.

Vagrants are important? Shelters for vagrant sims.
