I've got $70 and an xbox 360. I just got it for my birthday last month and the only game I have so far is the Saints Row platinum edition (1+2).

I'm hoping to get a lot for my money, (so I'm ruling out brand new games because they're fucking expensive).

Any suggestions?

http://i.eho.st/pjw6wxt0.jpgThe Mass Effect series is simply the best set of video games I've played. Both should be under $20 each at your favorite game store, used or new. You will not be disappointed. Plus, the final chapter of the game comes out in March, so you may as well get hooked now. :D

If you're not planning on getting Xbox LIVE, you can also pour a lot of time into the Fallout 3 GOTY Edition. It's quite cheap as well. Nerd.

Element Leaf's suggestions are quite good. Being a recent ME convert myself, I can vouch for the appeal of these games. Great storytelling, nice gameplay. A+, will probably play again. They're like 15 EUR each on Steam, and probably cheaper on Xbox Live, seeing as you're a vile Merkin. The downside to this is that you may be tempted to pre-order the collector's edition of ME3 when you are done.

I recommend getting Fallout: New Vegas instead of FO3, though, if you can only buy one of the two. All the DLC has been released, but I don't think there's a GOTY Edition yet.

Red Dead Redemption is very good - open world and kickass gameplay.

Portal 2!While Portal 2 is great, it's probably better to play it on a PC, since it's constantly on a Steam Sale for super-cheap. Plus, the system requirements are pretty lightweight.

I managed to get far too much shit.

The Orange Box
Grand Theft Auto IV
Mass Effect 2
Red Dead Redemption
Arkham Asylum
Dead Rising 2
Create
Tornado Outbreak

Got some bargain bin stuff for $2. I figure this would be a good variety as I have the attention span of a toothpick.

If you're at all into that sort of thing, I actually find picking up last years racing and/or sports games is usually a good investment. They're cheap and they've got tons of replay value.

That should last you for a while.

They're running out of stock. Ordered mine months ago.

Mass Effect 2

As they are part of the one continuous story I'd hold off on playing ME2 until you've played through the first game. Not only will you get more out of the story but the second game can make use of your save file to create an experience tailored, in-part, to the consequences of actions taken in the first game.

It's called Mass Effect: Genesis, and will run through the story and let you make the big decisions from ME1.

Though it's still preferable to play the first game, this comic is cheap, convenient, and especially useful for those of us who don't want to spend hours with ME1 just to see the results of different choices.

Yeah.. See? If you were a PS3 person, I would recommend the greatest game of all time - Uncharted, but since you are not I should take my business elsewere
