View Full Version : Glasses think they are earrings? (updated with another issue) *sigh*

I think something went wrong and now my glasses have an identity crisis: they show up in Bodyshop with handles attached to where the earrings should be. This is my first time making glasses, so, although I followed the tutorial, I might have screwed something up. I've cloned the geek glasses, and all is assigned to head. Does someone know what might be causing this?

Thank you :)

Geek glasses... do you mean the round ones or the thick-framed rectangular ones? The round ones are notoriously messed up; don't use them for cloning.

I can't really envision what the problem is (a picture would help), but if things are showing up in the wrong category, it's probably something that's gotten set wrong in SimPE.

Thank you for your reply, Fakepeeps :) I figured it out just a few minutes after I posted here. Turned out I linked one 3D ID that I shouldn't have. Oh, and I know about the issue with the round glasses - I used the thick-framed ones :)

I do have another problem now (god, it takes me days just to get the damn thing show properly in game). I managed to get everything working, then I went and worked on my mesh some more, imported it and now my Bodyshop is closing down the moment I click on the glasses section - no crash message, no nothing. I changed nothing else but imported a new mesh into my package, which was just a tweaked mesh that has worked perfectly just moments before. I even tried putting the original mesh back in, but that didn't help either. So I am pretty confused now, and I think I might have to start from scratch :/

EDIT: Started over, now all is good :)

Oookay...It all SEEMED well, until I went to check them out in-game. I have this really weird thing going on - like the lenses are getting out of the frames, and the mapping seems to be slightly distorted as well. It happens only with teen male and male adult versions. It also can't be seen in neither BS nor CAS.

This time I come prepared with the pics:

These are basically the same meshes (female one is the adjusted male mesh), both linked to the same texture. I don't get it :faceslap:

That's weird. Maybe someone else has some ideas, because I don't. The only thing I know is that the game can sometimes distort things on the face (I don't know why), especially in teen boys. Ever watched your Sim boy grow up when he's wearing the round glasses? :)

I'm assuming the bone assignments and weights on the frames and lenses are exactly the same...

I've never really noticed any problems with the round glasses, probably because I think I've never been using them much :) But I'll do a little test, to see if the problem is similar to this.

The working female mesh is exactly the same as the borked male mesh, so I'm truly confused...I'm sure I didn't miss anything. I keep checking to see what could have gone wrong, so far I have started from scratch twice (without meshing the glasses again, because that would be nuts :P), but everything I do seems to be futile.
