View Full Version : Trouble with making friend real

One of my sim kids has an imaginary friend and got the opportunity from the science lab. Well, I was lucky enough to find a rainbow gem with one of my other sims and transferred it to the kid's inventory. The opportunity didn't update, but I chalked it up to lazy/annoying programming on EA's part and had the kid send the gem to the science facility in the mailbox.

Then, nothing happened. I suspect it was because I've been hopping around the neighborhood using Twallan's Story Progression (the Dreamcatcher thing), which lets me change active households without losing opportunities and wants, etc. I was really annoyed, but I figured that I just wasn't playing that household when the quest should have gone through (Oh, God help me for referring to anything in the Sims as a "quest").

I was seriously peeved, as you can imagine. No one wants to waste a frickin Rainbow Gem for nothing. Still, I'm a trooper. When my other sim was lucky enough to find -another- gem a few days later, I again transferred it into the kid's inventory (but not before SAVING this time!). I had the kid take the gem right to the science facility. He went in and came out without the gem. And nothing happened. The opportunity still hasn't updated.

WTH? Does this take time or something, or is my game just messed up? Just wondering how this is supposed to work.

I've had problems with this, too. It sounds like the opportunity has got broken somehow- whenever this has happened to me it's been when a sim has aged up with the opportunity active.

For the opportunity, try cancelling the opportunity and then re-giving it to the sim. I did this by using Twallan's debug enabler. Click on the sim> Nraas> Degug enabler> Options...sim> Opportunities> Add opportunity> EP4_Occult_Imaginaryfriendpotion2.

For information, posting the gem into the mailbox will mean that you have sent it to be cut- so you should get it back in a few days. :)

Nope, I'm sure it said "Send to Science Lab" and I never got back a gem.

Anyway, I'll try resetting the opportunity like you suggested. Thanks!

UPDATE: Cancelling the opportunity and restarting it with the debugger worked. Thank you!
