So I recently got a new gaming system, with my older system Sims 3 tended to run pretty slow but I figured cause it was an older system. After using my new computer it seems that it takes a lot longer to load create a sim, neighborhoods and such. I am fully patched up and have all Stuff packs and expansions. The only thing slow on my computer that I can think of is my 5900RPM hard drive.
Specs:
AMD FX-6100 3.3ghz
16gb DDR 1600 RAM
AMD Radeon 6790 1gb
Windows 7 64bit

Service Packs, and drivers all updated?
It runs other games flawlessly? And doing other tasks? Did you compare your CPU benchmarks performing some synthetic tasks and gaming task as per the reviews on the web? Is it comparable, give or take some minutes/FPS? Because the test system is obviously going to differ from yours, but try to find one that is close so you can know for sure if your new gaming system is under-performing.
Urm..a six-core that is benchmarked lower than older four-cores in different hierarchy charts I looked at? I find that weird...
This is still on vanilla configuration? No CC and new games?
You can use Process Monitor to see where the lag is occurring. Game_Help:Package_File_Lag
The game engine itself has some flaws, so no matter what sort of speed demon of a gaming machine you have, the game won't ever not lag in anything. Plus, technically Sims 3 is a 32bit game on DX9. See also

1. Win7 and my hardware are fully updated
2. All games run with absolutely no issue at all and on max/ultra settings
3. I am running some custom content but its only in the 80mb range, and I combined all the packages into one package.
4. Process Monitor showed access of custom content was not even in the hundred range.
5. I even removed the CC and it did not resolve the issue.
So it looks like it just very well is an issue with the programming in the game.

Yes, it is not a computer issue. We all encounter the lags.
If you have other problems with Sims 3 or further questions related to Sims 3 and not generic non-Simming Computer Hardware or Software issues, please post in Sims 3 Help.
