Object conflict? Repeat Guid?

I've searched extensively but I may not be using proper terminology. If I'm in the wrong place, please point me in the right direction.


ok, here's my situation - and it makes me curious how many times this might happen that I didn't catch...


I acquired some curtains which I really like so I went looking for recolors. I didn't find any recolors but I came across another similar curtain (same author, same bedroom, different websites). I really like both curtains, and want both in my game, but I can't load them both, only the 2nd one shows up.


I have really limited knowledge when it comes to object creation, but I have poked around in simpe a little and have read/downloaded enough to realize a guid might have something to do with it. So I loaded both files into simpe and it does look like everything is the same in every catagory....

Now my question... is there anything I can change so that both curtains are usable? Or do I have to choose between the two?


I tried changing the guid using the "get guid" under all 3 of the object data spots but obviously I have no idea what I'm doing, I just thought it couldn't hurt. Both objects then showed up in the catalog (with different icons) but when placed them they looked the same (like the 2nd one that was unedited)


Any help you can give me would be appreciated. I really can't seem to choose between them and with no recolors I'd just love to have both.

If it helps at all, I can attached both files, but I didn't get them here so I don't know if thats allowed. Better safe.

Did you get the mesh for both curtains? Also, one of the curains might show up as a recolor of the other curtain.

I have both meshes, both are meshes - they show up properly when I load them one at a time. When both are in the downloads folder, only the 2nd one shows up with no recolor option.

Presently, I'm living without the 2nd one... still want both though :D

I have no idea either, but if the GUID was the same for both try manually changing the GUID for the first one so that it is one digit away from the other one. (This doesn't have to be at the end, just change one digit somewhere in the GUID.) If it has 3 places where it can be changed I believe that you need to follow the same pattern used in the original GUID. I remember from somewhere that the diagonal GUIDs are based on the first and last halves of the straight GUID, although that might just be doors and windows.

Again: I am about as ignorant as you are about what is wrong so I'm just floating an idea since nobody else is.

Thank you Ghost I appreciate the attempt :) I did try to register it a new guid, that failed. I don't know what the problem is. I settled on keeping the open curtain (as opposed to the closed one), and recolored it myself :D

What site did you get the curtains from? Was it here? If so, you could always see if there anyone posted comments with the same issue and/or contact the creator.
