Had a thief come in one night, before I bought an alarm, and did he steal that expensive statue? Nope. That nice looking painting? Nope. He stole the freaking CAT SCRATCH POST. *Facepalm*

Ok so today on the sims 3, A THIEF TOOK MY TOILET.

When I first started playing, that happened to me too. The worst thing is that I was new to the Sims... So, while I got the message that something had been stolen, I didn't know what. When my Sim started getting the gotta potty thoughts, my reaction... Well why don't you go! What a dumb game (I thought). Right up until I started looking for the toilet myself...

I had a totally empty lot except for the bed my sim was sleeping on. He took NOTHING and just stood around tapping his foot for a while before running off like crazy.

One thief stole my sim's dresser from her bedroom while she was asleep. Must have been some very deep sleep.

A burglar once stole a black gum tree from my hobo sim. The only possession on the lot was the tent the sim was asleep in, so I guess desperate times call for desperate measures!

Well, this goes back to Sims 2, I had a burglar come to a new legacy lot which didn't have very much to take. He took my wastebasket, which really upset me, because I was going to compost that trash.
In Sims 3, the burglars almost never get a chance to steal stuff in my game. Yesterday I had a burglar show up and three of my Sims (one cop, and two with the Brave trait) lined up to beat up on the burglar before he could take anything.

I had a burglar steal my spiral staircase once. My poor sim was trapped upstairs, route-failing, and sad that he couldn't properly freak out about a thief in the house.

That was right after Generations came out and really just a bug. I was quite surprised that a burglar could steal something from build mode. I believe it was fixed in patch 1.24, as the notes said "The Repoman can no longer repossess Spiral Staircases." So I assume that applies for thievery as well.

Aww, my thieves never steal anything funny. They always seem to take my TV, a painting or sculpture or my piano.

Not my toilet, but a thief once took my toilet paper roll off the wall right next to it. I didn't press charges, though. You've got to be in a bad place in your life if you have to steal toilet paper!

In real life, my house was broken into and the thief stole half a bag of flour, a stack of plastic food containers, a serving spoon and the contents of all my ashtrays. Nothing else was touched, including computers and cash, etc. It was very odd to say the least, reminded me of the craziness in Sims game.

My aunt's house was broken into and while they DID steal some of the usual stuff (cd's and laptop) , the thief also left with porkchops and a box of corn flakes.

Well, IRL, when my VCR was taken along with some other small electronics and jewelry (using one of my own pieces of luggage to cart it way, to add insult to injury), the burglar took 2 Disney movies. I guess it was a family burglar who figured their kids would enjoy getting some loot as well. Not nearly as creepy as porkchops or my ashtray butts, though.

Not stealing, just the repo man but he decided to take tons of the cheap stuff and nothing that would have covered the bill at once. So it was some stuff I can't remember, the toilet paper roll, and the toy box! The toy box, can you believe it??? What a jerk.

I had a maid take my parking space marker one time when I didn't have enough money to pay them. No car in the space. Just the little bumper itself. I was like "dude, if you wanted that you could have just asked, I'm not using it..."

As for burglar...the burglar alarm. Only thing in the house he stole.

I've not had a burglar take anything odd -- but playing a klepto burglar was so bizarre. I'd stand him next to an expensive painting, a flat-screen tv and a sculpture, and he'd take the LIGHTBULB.

Repeatedly!

And since I couldn't sell what he stole(rules of the challenge), he had the most well-lit shack in the whole town. :)

I wonder if your burglar was a Sim. The actual number of them living among us is no doubt very small, but I believe a few are employed in the computer game industry in Northern California, as models and voice actors. It must be especially hard to discourage a burglar whose motivations are so incomprehensible. Perhaps they won't actually enter your home if you leave a spare disconnected toilet on your lot somewhere easy to get. I just don't know. It is, as you say, very odd.

Oh, this is a good one.
I had a thief come to my house, stealing my TV, my shower (i have no clue as to why), and my fridge. I called the cops twice through my sims son, and my sim. i got fined twice for "prank calling" and they let the thief go.

The toilet paper roll. I don't remember what else, but I know it was nothing much better than the toilet paper roll. My sim didn't even call the police. It would probably have been too embarrassing of a situation for all involved anyway. Sometimes it's best just to let things go.

A cheap rug inside the house.

It reminded me of a similar situation I studied College abroad a few years ago, when someone broke into my room and stole a pot of plastic resin... while there was more valuable stuff there.

Maybe not so funny but annoying nevertheless. To do something about my boredom I started the "A New Life" challenge. It required an empty lot with one bench, a table with two chairs and an evil, mean-spirited parent who hates children and a child. Needless to say it's an eye-opener. I'm just glad I chose Twinbrook with the community garden with lots of edibles.

I never played homeless sims before. Even my poor sims always had a roof over their head with a kitchen, a bathroom, and enough beds. So, of course, since my lot has no walls, I get a burglar. :faceslap: I almost never get them! And of course, he takes the bench. The only thing on which they can at least nap! Not a chair or table which they don't need anyway since they only eat vegetables from their inventory.
I'm not allowed to buy anything until the child ages to teen. I have two more days to go until I can buy one sleeping bag. I'm getting tired just thinking about it.

So in my little house I have a bunch of expensive gems and fish (in fish bowls) all around... When I saw the burglar I was like "Anything but this..."
But then he took the fishbowl with a goldfish in it. I would of had my sim beat him up but it was too funny  Not the deathfish, not the angelfish, but the GOLDFISH.
As for Sims 2 the funniest thing that happened was.. My sim was at the community park, then a burgler walks by (like townies do at your house), waved at my sim, dusted himself off, and left. Also a fact that after a while when your sims hate a burgler they get a 100/100 relationship with him/her.

Yesterday this topped everything. A burgler stole my cheap alarm clock. Again, I have a bunch of expensive relics, gems, and fish all around in the open, but he goes into my sim's room to steal the ALARM CLOCK. It's not even the Landgraab version. :|

One of the CC homes I download comes with female and male toiletries installed in it...One of my sims was performing at the a club across town last night and her twin was at home sleep. The dog was in another room sleep. The house came with a box of TAMPONS in the restroom! The theif walks in, sneaks up the stairs and goes straight for the tampons. Never mind the 4 flat screens and the 3 amazing stereos and the awesome toaster I have...just take the tampons....Sad thing is...it was a guy. The girl woke up and took 5 minutes (real time because my computer sucks) to beat up the burglar and her twin gets home and just screams lol The dog slept through it all.

At least they got the tampons back!

I have had a burgler steal my Sims lamp, flowers and trash, no joke. I forgot to give my Sim a bin and watched the burgler go right up to the pile of trash and giggle with delight as he look at his, now full of trash, bag. Sims never gets old :D .

When I first started playing sims, I was more for gameplay. I eventually moved into Wolff Manor and a burglar came. I had refurnished it so it had tons of insanely expensive things including a ton of stereos, a Margaret Vaguester, and such. The guy comes in goes upstairs and takes my decorative tiny potted ivy plant.

My sim's house (mainly the living room) was filled with expensive paintings, that huge sculpture, a flat screen TV, and that foosball table. A burglar came while my sim was asleep, passed the living room and stole the cheap plant in my kitchen.

That and lamp-posts. I don't know how she does it.

I had a klepto sim once. I let her steal without interfering and let her make the best choice. She ended up stealing a decorative bottle of cheap wine and a knife holder instead of a Androgynous Automobile.

I remember I just bought my sim some very expensive items for her before sending her to explore the catacombs when I heard that eerie sound and got the message that a burglar just broke into my home. Of course I completely forgot to buy an alarm so I watched in fear as the burglar walked around on the lot while I was completely helpless since my sim was still in the catacombs, unable to call the police.

Of course the burglar walked 3 flight of stairs just to grab the toilet (cheap one that came with the house) and leave. I once had a burglar keep stealing stuff until my sim called the police and since he's so slow the burglar was gone before I the police arrived. So I was very surprised he didn't even attempt to take anything else.

I had a klepto sim steal a tombstone from the cemetery autonomously. I wasn't looking for 3 seconds and I see her grab the "loot". I was just one of the pre-made dead sims she didn't even know. I knew kleptos can't help themselves but this is a sick compulsion indeed if you can't resist stealing the actual grave. O.o

Must of been hard to carry.
I was a real life klepto, I stole the weirdest things. A marble, expo marker, few sheets of abandoned paper, hair spray-- but there was the time when I would grab things that made sense. Like a few doll dresses and somehow I managed to smuggle home a dollhouse. I don't even use any of these things anymore. I stopped when I was in my third year of middle school because I realized how serious stealing was. I still "steal" pieces of abandoned paper (trash) with words on them, but that's about it.

All 4 of my cars and my TV.
Also I had an alarm, and I manually called the cops too, the funny part is the reason they got away.

The cops started to fight them, and my sim (5 star celebrity) came downstairs to witness it, and suddenly they stop fighting, the cop walks over to my sim and asks for an autograph, meanwhile the robber keeps grabbing stuff and waltzes out of my house while the cop stands around taking pictures of me.

Real. :(

That honestly sounds like he was making some sort of drug and didn't want their purchases to be tracked or they couldn't afford it. The spoon is what concerns me the most.

LOL. I've heard on TV that there are thieves that steal underwear. The Sims thief may have been after the underwear.
I saw that on spongebob years ago, I think. Very informative, that show.

All of the real life stories here make me sort of wish I was robbed before. Here in my village, nothing is ever stolen. Ever. We have hundreds of cops patrolling the place with guns ready to shoot anyone who doesn't look like a secretive businessman, his trophy wife or their snotty children. But of course my neighbour's plantation (protected by extraordinarily high fences from view) is not suspicious. Or his collection of sports cars that seem to increase each time a major car theft is announced in the news.

But on topic now. For some reason, my ts3 burglars never steal cars or laptops or tvs or paintings. They only steal things that are supposed to be bolted into the walls. Like the bathroom sink for instance. Nevermind my tiberium collection right across it.

typically burglers in my game take heaps of steaming, dirty washing from the floor ( were sims have run out of room in the laundry baskets ) and trash that has been dropped on the floor! The sims market in illicit goods must be an odd one indeed :D
Oh, and my klepto did exactially the same as virgalibabe's with the tombstone .... also concerning was that a few moments later she stole a statue of Death! Black arts sim-style?
