As most of you are well aware, there has been a leak on the new 7th expansion pack here (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=471035). This thread is for those who are excited about the seventh expansion pack and want to talk about the positive aspect of the expansion pack.

For me, I'm very excited for the werewolves to come back. I also am curious to how the zombies will be implemented as well.

There is a video on the expansion pack effects here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=-5oZefGqwDA) by SimsMixeiRU. :bunny:

Note: For those not too happy with this expansion pack, I have made a complaint thread here (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?p=3804330&posted=1#post3804330). :)

My favorite part of the Sims have always been the supernatural life states. If the next EP is all sup'd out then I'm all for it. I really miss the zombies and werewolves.

Like the OP, I too would love to see the return of the werewolf and the zombies. Don't really care much for the other stuff though :faceslap:

That was very nice of you to make this thread. Maybe we won't kill each other before it gets here. (Although, a thread for all-out jello-wrestling wouldn't be too bad.)

I also love playing the supernatural life states, and if we get multiple life states in this expansion I am going to be so STOKED! This is the first time in this game cycle that I am SERIOUSLY excited about an expansion pack! I hope that if we get a new town it's like Magic Town times a thousand!

Remember the clamshell in the Showtime trailer, and they said it was a hint to the next EP? I wonder what they meant by that. It doesn't have anything to do with Faeries, Werewolves, Witches...

I am really stoked about the detail that they put in these creatures. Looking at the coding, I cannot wait to hear more information about this. I am also curious what these new skintone sliders are all about.

If they make a world for this expansion pack, I am curious what it will look like. There are so many possibilities EA can do to make either a Magic Town world for us or something completely different. From the coding, it looks like the witches are a lot more involved then they were in Sims 2. I am curious if they are planning to do the cat familiars again or if they decided to leave that out this time.

I am also wanting to hear more about this gifting system and the creatures being created in CAS as well. :bunny:

I am curious of that, actually. If they went for a very dark Halloween-style (no, not the movie series) village that might actually spark my interest. But what I'm imagining is not probably what the world would turn out to be.

Oooh mermaids - interesting...

I am very excited about this EP, and thank you to birdyfly for starting this thread - things were beginning to get a bit tense in the other thread, so I for one am glad I can come here and talk with others who are as hyped as I am :)

Am definitely looking forward to the werewolves; my fave creature from Sims2 - as well as the witches and zombies. Am also interested in how they implement the fairies too.... I'm just curious and brimming with supernatural gooeyness right about now, lolol....

Knowing EA, it was probably all LIES and PROPAGANDA (the whole clamshell=reference to next EP thing).

It's for the next Stuff Pack. I recall from a thread here it's sea and snow themed.

Thanks for creating this thread birdyfly. :)

If we had mermaids though, you'd think there would finally be an option for sims to swim in the ocean. I don't see that happening but I guess you never know. I hope there will be phases of the moon for the werewolves this time around but again... may be hoping for a bit much there!

I haven't been as excited for an EP since Pets!

I would love if it were a Halloween-type world. I am also wondering if there will be a sub neighborhood like WA/Sims 1 Magic Town, or if this world would be separate like most Sims 3 worlds.

Enjoji:
No problem! :bunny: Like I said in my other thread, I wanted to create two threads for people who are excited and miffed about this expansion pack so they can discuss freely without worrying about upsetting anyone.

The werewolves were my favorite creatures in Sims 2 as well. Since I had a lot of mods in Sims 2, the werewolves were quite interesting in my Sims 2 game. :p

I miss having witches as well. I love to travel to France in WA due to the Makin' Magic music in the world's background. It makes me want to install Sims 1 again.

crocobaura:
I can't wait to see more information about fairies just due to the fact that EA has never made them before. I also love the idea of the candle making and bee keeping as well. I'm already liking the concept behind this more than the Sims 2 witches. It feels like EA is trying to go back to Makin' Magic, which I do prefer over having two completely different ideas merged together.

chellekat7:
You're welcome. :)
If EA ever makes Mersims, I do hope they add the swimming in the ocean feature with it. With the town being an open neighborhood, it would make it a lot more interesting to have this feature as well.

metal_goat:
Makin' Magic was my favorite too along with Superstar. :D I wonder if EA will add anything like Magic coins again. Even though they were challenging to get without cheats, I remember feeling pleased with myself when I finally got enough magic coins to buy a house in Magic Town. If the EP is anything like the Store's magic items, then I would say the theme would be carnival/gypsy/makin' magic themed.

Zombies might kick major ass. I'm pretty excited to do some zombie apocalypse challenges for the Sims 3. I'm actually relieved by this expansion because I didn't think they would do all of the creatures we had in the Sims 2, but we will have most of them plus the others that other expansions have added.

The video about the effects were really nice, the model could have tried being a bit more enthusiastic but other than that looked great. The baby fairy effect, it looked very long, I wonder does it mean it's the same old baby in a blanket, but sparkly.

I can't help but think that EA is a True Blood fan, almost everything in that show, seems to be in this EP.

3+ creatures in one EP? It sounds too good to be true. But yeah, EA would need to step up their game since some magical sets are already available from the store.

I'm excited for an occult/supernatural EP. Having weather would be nice and all, but it doesn't add much in terms of new gameplay.

I go through the leaked features and don't see any mermaid clue yet. I would be blown away if they come out as a surprise in addition to the 3 existing creatures. Otherwise, they should come later with seasons and ocean/lake swimming. That's too good to be true.
How dreamy it is to see little fairies flying around in my garden. I think due to their tiny sizes maybe we can afford dozens of them in our magic world. Talking about world, with Appaloosa Plain and Lunar Lakes, EA proves that they could make decent world if they determines to do so. Then Starlight Shore is pretty lame, but I would forgive them completely if they are investing most of their human resources in this magical stuff.
I'm so EXCITED..sorry

I haven't seen any other info listed either. I really doubt they would add another creature as they have so many. Actually though, what you said makes the most sense, mersims (if they ever added them) would go perfectly with a weather EP (which I'm sure we will get eventually).

I'm honestly so excited about werewolves, WITCHES and fairies that would be more than enough right now. :bunny: The bee keeping and candle making sounds cool too, would go nicely with my farming sims who live off the land. Reading through the info (http://simsvip.com/?page_id=8081) it seems like the zombies may just be a temporary spell which is a real shame. I won't get my hopes up until there's more info on that one.

That is how I feel too. I was worried we would never get any werewolves, zombies, or witches at all for Sims 3. I'm also liking the idea of fairies as well. I cannot wait until EA starts talking about this EP. Unfortunately, they will probably keep closed lipped until after the next stuff pack is out.

Misanthrope:
For far, it looks like the zombie "creature" is a potion and the werewolves learn their transformation. I am not sure if those would be considered creatures or not due to that. If they do witches like they did with Makin' Magic then I doubt witches would be considered a creature as well.
I agree though that I am super excited for this occult EP. :bunny:

matrix54:
I'm thinking a couple of these "creatures" will be potions/spells. If this is true, I am still optimistic that there will be a fantastic modder that will figure out how to make it permanent or make the effects more interesting.

Nekonyami:
I think that is a cute idea. :p
I am torn on making a werewolf gang or having a zombie apocalypse.

noxnoxnox:
Your description reminds me of a few CC I had in Sims 1 where there were these fairy rings, fairy mushrooms, and a fairy trapped in a cage. I remember having them for every Sim witch I made. I am wondering if the fairies are a form of spawners and a sim can become a fairy through a potion.

chellekat7:
Like I stated above to matrix, I'm hoping there will be a mod to make the zombie potion permanent.

One thing I'm wondering is what the new skills are, if any. It seems werewolves have to learn their skills, but I wonder if witches will get skill points for potion/spell making. I am also wondering if the bee keeping will get a new skill as well.

I am not sure if those would be considered creatures or not due to that. There's a modified CAS layout overview image in the patch that has placeholders for the existing creatures and werewolf, witch, and fairy. Of course that's not a guarantee, but I think it's likely those three are creatures, while the zombie is only a potion effect/moodlet.

Does that include the simbot and ghosts? That's what the image suggests, though it's still at a very early stage with placeholders (whereas e.g. the gifting system already has icons). There are placeholders for simbot, werewolf, vampire, mummy, ghost, witch, fairy, imaginary friend, genie, and human.

If they do witches like they did with Makin' Magic then I doubt witches would be considered a creature as well.I hope they do witchcraft more like Makin' Magic (a skill that anyone can learn) and not Apartment Life (a lifestate). I always hated jumping through hoops to become a witch in AL: Why should "Witch" be a special "lifestate"? I should have just been able to walk down to my local bookstore to pick up a book to teach me the magic skill (Spellcasting Level 1: Mind Your Beeswax!). It's called witchcraft for a reason, EA!

On a related note, I can do without the need for "magical ingredients" and "reagents," though. (And I think wands should be entirely optional - not everyone wants to be brandishing phallic symbols!) Why not just make magic cost Energy? You'd still get the resource management challenge ("Will I pass out if I cast this spell?") without having to run all over the map looking for the one extremely rare ingredient that you absolutely need but that only spawns randomly (i.e. pink diamonds). I can see "ingredients" being necessary for creating potions, but I hope witches have a heck of a lot more to do than just brewing potions; I shall be extremely disappointed with EA if they don't! :wtf: (Breaks out his Little Voodoo Dolly from TS1 and holds it up menacingly...)

Hmm, already fantasizing about a new "Magic Register" to create an occult bookstore for my Sims... (Sadly, if it does have a skill book, they'd probably just have it be a random thing at the Consignment Store, but then again, maybe it could be a special book only available at a Magic Town travel destination... :sigh: One can dream...)

Either a special "Magic Register" or a special destination would be ideal. It's one thing to have magic books available, and another thing entirely to have them showing up everywhere - there should be some mystery involved! :)

I could also see EA going with skill objects instead of books on this one: You'd learn alchemy from a cauldron, spellcasting from a magic wand, etc. Of course, that could actually be worse than spell books if EA decides to ensure that all of its premade Sims in the new neighborhood have magical items in their houses... <shudders to think about the ensuing "plague of witches">

Exactly. If they are magicall then they shouldn't be available just about anywhere. They should randomly appear in old trinkets shops or flea markets. As for the alchemy, I guess they could use the chemistry table too. If they give them a cauldron, I also kind of expect the sims to at least know how to boil water before they attempt any alchemy.

I'm thrilled! I like it simply for the fact that they're putting all of the magic stuff together, which makes it easy both for people who do *and* do not want it. I know that a lot of people aren't into magic/paranormal/etc stuff, and since this EP is pretty much just about that, they can not buy it without worrying that they're missing out on anything they want. And similarly, those of us who do like that kind of thing can have an entire EP (finally!!) that includes it all. Win-win for everyone, really. I'm so, so excited. Great news, especially after hearing about the Katy Perry SP that I'm...less than excited about.

If they give them a cauldron, I also kind of expect the sims to at least know how to boil water before they attempt any alchemy. :lol:The "mysterious book that randomly turns up at the Consignment Shop in a suitably occult manner" scenario definitely works to preserve the mystery and keep the books from ending up on everyone's shelves. And if we can sell our candles and potions through the Consignment Register, I guess that would make the idea of a special "Magic Register" kind of redundant come to think of it. I guess I was thinking along the lines of the Pets Register where you'd have different types of themed merchandise all in one place - i.e. candles, potions, spell books, cauldrons, etc. But however they do it, you're right: The skill objects for magic do need to be harder to obtain in order for the magic to seem special (and to avoid plagues of celebrity-vampire-mummy-werewolf-fairy-simbot-witches - unless the player specifically creates them!).

I also agree - if we get cauldrons, using them safely should be predicated on having some degree of cooking skill - after all, cauldrons can start fires too! ;) And if you're a Natural Cook, you might even get a bonus in your potion's quality!

Still, it's all just speculation at this point. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much - I'd rather be pleasantly surprised by all of the new features than wistfully disappointed by all of the unrealized potential, which sadly seems to be a recurring theme (grumble grumble *apartments* grumble grumble *mixed use lots* grumble).

I think we might *finally* get more gothic stuff now! I think it's just disgusting that we had to put up with colourful, expensive modern (read: Katy Perry) stuff up 'til now (with the exception of VERY few things).
I think that with all that coding, being a witch/witchcraft would become a lot more interesting this time around. I don't mind if zombies are a temporary lifestate/condition, but if they are, then I sure hope that they connect the zombies and witches in a voodoo way. I just love voodoo. Black magic > any other magic.
If they bring back mermaids and - oh god! - swimming in the ocean then I'd be more than thrilled. I really hope they do. But another part of me has my fingers crossed hoping that they'll add in dragons again, even as extremely minor pets (as long as they're there!).

I wonder how candle making works. Will there be different shapes/styles? Colors? What purpose do the candles have? They're probably for selling and maybe work like Incense, to make different moodlets. Maybe it'll be like Flower making in Sims 2, except each type will have an effect instead of just the best one (snapdragons).

I, for one, am beyond excited about werewolves. Although I think this is the first time that there will be multiple life states in an EP? I really hope that some of them aren't false features.

And I wonder how they're gonna do the werewolves. I really hope they're not cheesy wolf-men like in TS2. But then again, they made a conscious effort to make Vampires cool, instead of Bella Lugosi ripoffs, so here's hoping that they do the same for my favorite supernatural creature.

Also, a spooky neighborhood would be AMAZING. I've been dying for more unique worlds. I feel like the current worlds are very bland and samey, with the exception of one or two.

I'm hoping they add more recipes or ingredients, or at least some plants to crop (i must assume this doesn't represent a big 'work' for the lazy ea people), and also that they add, PLEASE, a non rabbit hole cafeteria or restaurant, this is the basic of any sim game, and that the witches can be available as an skill like some of you have said.

About the expansion itself, i like the idea, only and just only, if they release this soon (as we can see, this new ep has a great progress till now).

Also, candle wax is a byproduct of beekeeping. In TS1: Makin' Magic, the beeswax was a magical ingredient in certain spells (or was it charms?), but it would be really nice (pay attention, EA!) if the beeswax were used as a raw material in candle making - and the candles were then used for casting spells (red for love spells, black for curses...). Oh, and honey as a cooking ingredient would be nice too.

Hmmmm..... i like the idea bout' the EP, however, I don't think that somebody can just go to a special town to get magical supplies. I think that like being able to see magical buildings only at speific time of day/week, or only specific persons being able to see those, like giving them a new trait ("Magic Fanatic" or somethin' like that, i dunno). Fairies seem like a nice adition and i can't wait to make my Tinkerbell and Peter Pan :D .For others, unmodded creatures in TS2 ( zombies, vampires, wherewolves...) were plain simple and boring. And remember Plantsims? If two Plantsims had a Try for baby, they won't get a baby Plantsim, but a baby SIM. It was pretty stupid, and so was the laziness of EA to create the rest life stages (baby, child, teen) for Plantsimmies. Werewolves were just a bunch excess-haired sims that like howling at the moon, and have the excess-hair plague. Vampires on other hand, were a pretty good try for being a good creature. They still have the "Humger" need, however, making them a human with a big-fang-white-skin-that-is-allergic-to-light plague. Then zombies of TS2, they don't eat brains, people, animals, or anything that actually makes them zombies. That means they are just humans that have a weird and slow walk, blue skin and a thought bubble with a brain in it that pops pout from time to time... I simply liked the SimBots most... Anyway, I hope the expansion will be a good one.
Sorry for the long read :)

I'm really excited about this upcoming expansion pack. I'm so excited, I actually compiled a playlist of songs to pump myself up for the release of this EP, and I have decided to share it! Oh yes. Here it is:

"Re: Your Brains" by Jonathan Coulton (zombies!)
