I used to be able to install downloaded package files just fine by double clicking but when I do it now it says I do not have a program that can open that kind of file and opens something called file type assistant. I downloaded Sims3pack installer but that doesn't work.

Also, the icon for sims package files is not there either. It is just an icon of a blank sheet of paper.

I haven't played Sims 2 on my laptop for a while because people told me my laptop would get damaged because I didn't have a graphics card. But I called Geek Squad today and they said that is not true. They said all that would happen is the game wouldn't run smoothly.

Other than that I have not changed, moved, or done anything to my Sims 2 game.
Thanks

You called Geek Squad, huh? The people who make a living selling compters, and therefore would be doing pretty well at their jobs if you ran your computer into the ground playing TS2 on it, and then had to buy a new one from them? Never trust Geek Squad, BestBuy, PC World, or any of those mugs. They are worse than incompetent.

So - you're trying to install Sims 2 .package files, using two programs which are respectively for .sims2pack files and .sims3pack files? I think I see the problem. :) If you can afford to replace your computer, I suggest you re-read either Game Help:DFFI if you've totally forgotten how to install CC, or Game Help:Downloading for Fracking Geniuses if you just need a quick refresher.
