hey there! after some minor dabbling in sim-making, I considered maybe sharing a fresh face or two. So I decided to do some celebrity face-modeling as a training of sorts. It's turned out to be a lot more difficult than I thought! Anyway, even though normally I'd go for more obscure people/characters, I've decided to go with actress Emma Stone as my first project, because, for some reason, I've always thought she has a very "simmable" face.
Anyway, I've just found out that CAS pics aren't very reliable, so next time I'll upload some in-game screenshots, but I was hoping you could point me in the right direction. I'm having some trouble finding a fitting hairstyle (parted on the side, ear showing, shoulder length, "narrow" in shape - I've already checked the hair gallery and Anubis' entire archive) and I've had to juggle some CAS objects - had to sacrifice eyeshadow for eyebags, and contacts for freckles. Obviously any face-shaping tips you can give are welcome as well, as I can see it's still a long shot from being a real likeness, but I can't quite put my finger on what's wrong (other than her eyes needing to be smaller).

Well, as you said, the CAS pics aren't that what they promise to be. I will try to give you some feedback on your current pics.
First, I would say that she looks quite cute but not really like a human. Her eyes are a bit too green in my opinion and a bit too large. Than, I would say that her hair needs to be a little bit browner, it looks quite red. Maybe you could make her face a bit rounder?

Her jaw seems to be too high in my humble opinion. I also agree with Gincgo on hair and eyes.

Actually, there are only two things that I see are off: her nose is too long, and the eyes are a bit to big as well. It's also a lot better than I could do, I can't even do a decent self Sim! :(

Ok, I touched up the nose, eyes, hair and jaw. seems like whatever good that did was countered by the change taken by the screenshots actually being in-game, though :|
I'm having the darndest time trying to make her chin/lips/nose area look good in profile, any tips?
Next session I'll probably trade the makeup freckles for those in the birthmarks category, to see if some contacts do the trick. Also I downloaded those eyeball/iris/pupil sliders (I'm pretty sure I have every single custom slider), but they don't seem to be working. Ah well.

Thanks for posting the comparison pictures beside the in-game pictures, but they're a little small. You want to post a larger image so it's easier for everyone to see the details - probably no smaller than 800x600.
You also want to show your sim looking forward with a neutral expression. Your sim is smiling in the front view, as well as in the 3/4 view, which really distorts the features. Here are two pose sets that have fairly neutral facial expressions:

If you are downloading awt's eyeball sliders, make sure you include the eyeball mesh replacement. This allows the sliders to work. The file should be named "aWT_MSH_LOD0-Eyeball". Make sure you have that package file.
For freckles categorized as freckles, the best ones are probably by Vasilla:

There are also some great freckled skintones:

However, you'll want to focus on sculpting her facial features for now.

She is looking great ! Just maybe just turn the tip of the nose slightly outwards so it looks a little bit rounder from the side if that makes sense ? And the chin is lookinga little off. Other than that she looks brilliant !
